You can believe what you want. But you can’t tell us what to believe. And your attitude above suggests that is exactly what you are trying to do. Here is what I think, if this country is stupid enough to elect dumpster don president and give him a majority in Congress this country will cease to be a democracy. And what is currently playing out in Texas will become a lot more common and not just for abortions but other issues that affect Americans as well. I’m basing this opinion by what trump and company have been saying the last couple of years. Do you know trump wants any migrants coming in this country to pass a religious test. If it’s not the right religion they won’t be allowed in. I guess he forgot that one of the main reasons the Pilgrims came to this country was religious freedom. Kind of what the country was founded on, the choice of religion or no religion at all. We know you don’t think this will happen and that is your choice, But here’s the thing, if I’m right then it will have happened because of people like yourself who refuse to see what’s in front of them and therefore allowing it to happen. I guess we will have and wait to see how this plays out. I'm not telling you what to believe, I'm telling you that the facts don't support your belief. It is of course your choice not to consider facts and only rely on your feelings for what to believe. Although that is something you once told me not to do. GemGirl once said: "It's impossible to negotiate successfully unless both parties are dealing in factual reality." To which you enthusiastically agreed. Funny how you so often dismiss factual reality after making such an effort to insist on it from others. You know what I like about you? You can always make me laugh. And after reading the two stories I posted I needed a chuckle. Those articles should scare the stuffing out of people.

onelasttime , you routinely dismiss opinion pieces coming from the Right as meaningless, and now you want to ignore facts in favor of opinion pieces.🤔 Got it. 🙄 I'll say it again: GemGirl once said: "It's impossible to negotiate successfully unless both parties are dealing in factual reality." 👉To which you enthusiastically agreed. You repeatedly change your rules whenever they don't work in your favor. 🙃

And you, making unending excuses for his horrific statements AND actions, does nothing to show him NOT to be a potential dictator. Pointing out absolute proven lies said about someone, anyone... is not making excuses for them making horrific statements or actions. If they didn't say it or do it, you can't make excuses for them saying/doing it. That's reality. I know you want so badly for those lies to be true, but they just aren't. Many of them have even been debunked by Left leaning news sources. I'm sorry you are so disappointed that the lies are not true and that anyone would dare say so. If you haven’t heard what Trump and his minions have been saying for the past year, it’s because you’ve chosen not to. If you’ve heard it all but convinced yourself they’re just joking or don’t really mean it, that’s not being realistic in the least. If you don’t remember what the four years of hell (2017-2020) were like, you’re deliberately ignoring the situation. The only reason he didn’t put his authoritarian ideas into effect last time was because he was surrounded by too many competent, ethical aides who stood in his way. That won’t be a problem for him next time, as he’s planning to hire only 100% loyalists. Competence and ethics will not be a requirement. Actually, they’d be a detriment to getting hired in another Trump administration. First they’ll go after the free press, the religions they think are “wrong,” the lawyers who prosecuted legitimate cases against them, and the political leaders and regular people who disagree with them. They’ve said so. Say goodbye to our constitutional republic and the whole idea of democracy. I've learned one thing and that is to not go around in never-ending circles with you. So that’s my last word on the subject. Go ahead, carry on with your gaslighting. I’m sure you’ll love bequeathing a fascistic government to your grandchildren.

If biden loses, the left can blame their own--the left wingers taking to the streets chanting "Genocide Joe has got to go" and vowing they'll never vote for him. It appears a lot of young folks are vowing not to vote for him either. Point fingers at the right all you all want, but his demise would come from the lefties. I do worry about this. But anyone who votes for Trump or doesn’t vote at all is responsible for their choice. Republicans don’t get a pass on that. After all, you are the ones who opened this can of 💩 to begin with.

This bullshit has been going on since the day he came down the escalators. Before he ever did anything. The nominees have not been officially decided and you're already deflecting and shifting blame. Unless you have some kind of magic glass ball, no one can predict who will show up or how they will vote on Election Day next year. There are way too many uncertainties for any poll accurately determine the outcome of the election this far out. The outcome of the war in Gaza, the state of the economy, Trump's indictments etc will all have an impact. Trump was the reason Republicans lost races in 2018, 2020 and 2022. There's a good chance he will drag down the ticket again and be the reason Republicans lose again next year. There's also a decent probability Democrats will unite behind Biden and against Trump. Unlike Republicans, Democrats are capable of uniting when it counts.

One just needs to known the difference between a factual event and an opinion and if an opinion is just that or based on facts. You are absolutely correct in that I feel all opinions by the current crop of Republican elected officials and opinion writers are meaningless. The reason because they are less than honest for just about everything they say. They outright lie, deliberately misinterpret information to fit their narrative. They make accusations and very rarely provide any facts to back up what they are claiming. They accuse the left of the very things that they themselves have done. They stand for nothing that benefits the American people. Just tonight on twitter there was Jim Jordan defending trump claiming he had every right to have those boxes of files in that bathroom at MAL because he was President. Well actually he wasn’t president then. Then there was that Lauren person going on about this country being in moral decay. She was the one a picture surfaced of her playing with this guy’s dick while he fooled around on her boobs while they were in the audience of some play. Then there was Comer going on and on about how the only reason the DOJ indicted Hunter Biden was to protect him from the Congressional hearing. Then there is Alito who received a “funded” trip to Rome paid by a Catholic Organization right after the Roe v Wade decision. I have never understood why these guys get all expenses paid trips. They make a hell of a lot more than I did but I paid for my trip like the vast majority of Americans. But not certain members of the Supreme Court. MTG and that new Speaker of the House made what they called factual claims but offered absolutely no facts to back up what they are claiming like we are just suppose to take what they claiming as the gospel with no facts to back it up. Seriously? And the list goes on and on. Now you are going to say the Democrats do it to. Yes but on their worst day they come no where near to what the Republicans and the right in general do. They have gone off the rails. But you have made it your mission in life to find “examples” of the Democrats doing the same thing at the same scale as the Republicans. But you are never going to find it because it doesn’t exist on the same level as the Republicans. Your example of that mayor of “the Democrats do it to” was like comparing a gold fish to a killer whale. The gold fish being your “example”. I can understand why those on the right don’t condemn members of their party on this board. Heck if the Democrats pulled even half the stunts of the Republicans I would either be criticizing them or MIA. More likely MIA. But what I wouldn’t be doing is looking for comparisons that aren’t true comparisons. We are in uncharted waters with this current crop of Republicans and those on the right. And IMO sadly there is a lot of truth in those two opinion pieces you are dismissing. But to each their own.

Are you really trying to diminish a pedophile compared to anything else? Because his town was small? Really? Seriously? Democrats are in no way on the moral high ground because your pedophile is from a small town. Just stop. Really.

If you think this is “fact” you have obviously not been paying attention to Trump for the last 30 or 40 years (or whatever). No matter how much you think it was “before he ever did anything”, that is not actually factual either. So just because part of this country has not had him on their radar for years doesn’t mean the rest of us haven’t (especially those of us on the east coast) and I would certainly not call it bullshit…that is more what comes out Trump’s mouth everyday. 😉😆 I have watched and seen Trump skirt (and full on breach) moral and ethical lines for so many years that from day one, IMO, I knew he was a detriment to our government.

Exactly. Before he announced that he was running for office, a lot of people knew he didn’t have the morals, ethics or temperament to be president. Plenty of people knew he was a narcissist, only in it for himself.

Trump’s allies are not even defending his authoritarian statements. Rather, they’re leaning into it. Trump’s allies are making their own threatening authoritarian statements. JD Vance wrote a letter to Merrick Garland asking him to investigate a Trump critic. www.nytimes.com/2023/12/09/us/politics/trump-dictatorship.htmlWhen a historian wrote an essay the other day warning that the election of former President Donald J. Trump next year could lead to dictatorship, one of Mr. Trump’s allies quickly responded by calling for the historian to be sent to prison.
It almost sounds like a parody: The response to concerns about dictatorship is to prosecute the author. But Mr. Trump and his allies are not going out of their way to reassure those worried about what a new term would bring by firmly rejecting the dictatorship charge. If anything, they seem to be leaning into it.
... In the meantime, no one expects Mr. Garland to take Mr. Vance seriously, including almost certainly Mr. Vance. His letter was a political statement. But it says something about the era that proposing the prosecution of a critic would be seen as a political winner. And this. Trump has told us exactly what he will do but his supporters either are not listening, they’re in denial, they make excuses and continue to defend him (like some conservatives on this board) or they don’t care about his authoritarian tendencies. “History shows that autocrats always tell you who they are and what they are going to do,” she added. “We just don’t listen until it is too late.”

Still defending him? Still think this is just the liberal media out to get him? Still denying that he will be a fascist dictator after his “poisoning the blood of our country” comments this weekend? www.washingtonpost.com/elections/2023/12/16/trump-authoritarians-putin-orban-poisoning-blood/heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/december-17-2023On Saturday, in Durham, New Hampshire, Trump echoed Nazi leader Adolf Hitler’s attacks on immigrants, saying they are “poisoning the blood of our country”—although two of his three wives were immigrants—and quoted Russian president Vladimir Putin’s attacks on American democracy. Trump went on to praise North Korean autocratic leader Kim Jong Un and align himself with Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orbán, the darling of the American right wing, who has destroyed Hungary’s democracy and replaced it with a dictatorship.

Trump's defense that he's never read Mein Kampf only highlights his own stupidity, lack of eduction and poor knowledge of history. Obviously, I wouldn't expect a president to have read the German version. But, I would expect them to have read some portions of the translated text and be familiar with it. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/12/19/trump-denies-mein-kampf-hitler/“It’s true, they’re destroying the blood of our country. ... They don’t like it when I said that,” he said. “I never read ‘Mein Kampf,’” Trump said, referring to Hitler’s political manifesto. “They said ‘Oh, Hitler said that.’ In a much different way. Now they’re coming from all over the world. People all over the world. We have no idea. They could be healthy, they could be very unhealthy, they could bring in disease that’s going to catch on in our country. But they do bring in crime.”

This is a forty year old unemployed incel, sitting in his parent's basement banging out stupidity on his keyboard. A true conservative would explain their views and comment on the right wing agenda. These keyboard bangers just troll and stir shit without any substance and disappear until the latest rightwing scandal blows over.
