They were rear-ended on the bridge to Tybee Island.
Here's the back of DD's car. (DH was driving...thank goodness...even though he was not at fault...other driver was ticketed)

and here's the other guy's car. (I cropped his face out of the picture...but I found it VERY ironic that he's standing next to the "Welcome to Tybee Island" sign" LOL)

Yikes! I hope everyone was ok. Everyone is okay. Thank goodness. I suspect USAA may "total" the car simply because it's 8 yrs old and has over 100,000 miles. Ughh!

I'm sorry. That would really suck to have to miss out on a family vacation because of an accident. I'm glad that no one was hurt.

Glad your family is ok. What a pain, though, having to deal with the car on a holiday weekend.

I'm sorry. That would really suck to have to miss out on a family vacation because of an accident. I'm glad that no one was hurt. They're still down there. The car is mangled in the back, and they couldn't get the luggage out of the back...but it is drivable. I asked DH if the handling was in any way "off" and he said no. The only concern he has for the trip home is one of the mufflers and I told him that before he ties it up or tapes it in any way, that he should call the insurance company to confirm that his "quick fix" isn't going to be a problem for them.
I asked DH earlier if anyone was sore today. He said that DS's (15 1/2) neck is a "little sore".

Glad no one got hurt. Were they able to go through the back seat to get the luggage?

Glad no one got hurt. Were they able to go through the back seat to get the luggage? Just saw this...they had to drag all of the luggage out through the passenger doors...vs using the large hatch in the back.

USAA will not "total" the MDX and have paid the collision shop $4,200 for repair. There's still the issue of the $500 (repair bill is $4700) deductible...but I've made it clear to more than one adjuster that DH was not at fault and last I heard, our adjuster has not heard from the other driver's USAA adjuster yet to finalize them paying our $500 deductible.
