Did the derm give you any ideas of cost? I assume it would be covered by insurance. I have a lot on my forehead. I don't think it is noticable by anyone but me but I hate it. No and I’d be shocked if insurance covers it because I feel like it would be considered cosmetic. Agree, that was supposed to be "wouldn't".

Adding a few products to my "to try" list.
I don't suppose that anyone has any favorite products to deal with hair frizz. My hair is naturally curly and I use product in it. The bottom part of my hair isn't the problem - it's mildly frizzy depending on the weather, but nothing terrible. But the gray hairs at my crown that are now growing out are super wiry and frizzy. None of the products that I've tried have tamed the frizz there. Anyone find anything that works for that? Open to gel, paste, or wax - anything to help. I've tried a ton of different things, but they don't work or work for an hour or two only.

The texture of my greys is of the devil. I’ll be watching to see if you get any recommendations. I will say I love the shampoo and conditioner I use, from Briogeo Superfoods line, the green one. Plus the avocado & kiwi mask. They do make it much softer, but the wire-y frizzy aspect is no where near under control.

Not new, but new(ish) to me. Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream. Finally found a base that I think looks great, really natural. It doesn’t settle in lines or pores, feels great, and is a good color for me. I use a damp BeautyBlender to put it on, easy peasy.

I have started to use Glossier foundation. It is now my favorite one. I really like the coverage and color.

KikiPea and meriannj or anyone else using Laura Gellar...what do you consider must haves? I wanted to order the Baked Starter Holiday Kit but they are sold out.

Not a new product, but a new technique. I have always suffered from dark circles under my eyes, even as a child. I saw a tip to try an orange color correcting concealer under my usual concealer to combat the darkness and it is really working! I was skeptical so I just got a cheap Elf orange concealer to try it out. I pit a small amount of each concealer under my eyes and blend with a damp beauty blender sponge.

Drunk Elephant
Lala Retro™ Nourishing Whipped Refillable Moisturizer
I have psoriasis and just weird skin these days - can be anything from oily to very dry on any given day. This stuff seems to really calm my skin. I only wear it at night, as it's pretty heavy, but it just seems gentle and calming and hydrating for me. I wipe the extra bit from my hands onto body areas that are giving me problems, and I don't even have to use as much of my medicated creams.

Question for the hive - I have my yearly gift exchange tonight with a $50 limit. Ideas for a gift from Sephora?
I was gonna walk over there at lunch - was thinking of a Tarte eyeshadow palette in something sparkly and festive - thoughts??

I love the Baked Balance-n-Brighten Color Correcting Foundation and eyeshadows. I also have the spakle skin perfecting primer in champagne. It’s also sold out. They have been having some huge holiday sales. I placed an order for the blush, brow lifting sticks and hydrating lip color and lip mousse. It hasn’t shipped yet, but I’m excited to try it.

Nothing groundbreaking but I am enjoying the skincare products from the Estee Lauder gift (the one that was $85 dollars with purchase)
and Curlsmith products I bought during Ulta's black friday sale.
I like Misha perfect cover when it is on sale. They had another BB cream that they discontinued that I also liked, it was in a squarish pump and it was swirled with a brightener I think...

~summer~ link Anastacia Bev Hills eyeshadow palette @ Sephora and link Urban Decay makeup basics also @ Sephora together in a nice bag. Just under $50 right now because the second thing is marked down, but there's also 20% off on top of that. I have the eyeshadow palette and really like it, and the other stuff is just kind of staple for a lot of people who wear makeup.

Where do you find it on sale? I’m happy with the $22, especially comparing it to the IT Cosmetics I used to use, but would be happier to save more money!

busy and RosieKatThanks - I got a sparkly Tarte palette - do you like those other brands better? I’d like to get a holiday one for myself. I also got a eyeshadow brush to go with the gift. Everything was 20% off so I stocked up on more tanning drops, eye sticks, and a liquid eyeliner. Oof.

I've tried a ton of different things, but they don't work or work for an hour or two only. I’m only 55, but 85% gray. And the grays were wiry and frizzy, no matter what I did. I’d either have to use a curling iron to curl it or a straightening iron to straighten it. My friend recommended a keratin straightening treatment. I was balking because it’s SO expensive. But since I stopped having my hair colored during Covid, I bit the bullet, paid the $450 plus tip, and had it done. I couldn’t be happier. The hairdresser said people react differently and it could last between 4-6 months. I had it done in late June. We are traveling this week and last night I washed my hair, slept on it half wet and woke up and brushed it out. That’s it. It’s got a bit of body without being frizzy. And since I’m not blow drying or using any appliances, it’s incredibly healthy so I don’t have to have it cut as often. Obviously you’re not there yet if it’s just at the top, but keep it in mind when it’s grows out!

With the K18 mask, has anyone had or read about any issues? There is so much alcohol in it! It’s made a huge difference in my hair, but improvement continues over time. A couple of uses isn’t going to transform your hair. A couple months of using as directed likely will. About the alcohol: “I noticed there’s alcohol in the formula. Isn’t that bad for my hair? In chemistry, the term “alcohol” is used to describe a broad range of organic compounds. Although the ingredients have “alcohol” in the name, they all behave differently and serve different functions in a formula. Many of them are very different in appearance and function from Denatured or Isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. Denatured alcohol is used in K18 formulas because it opens keratin’s porous structure and helps deliver the peptide to the hair’s damaged sites. Isopropyl alcohol is at a very low level (about 0.5%) in the K18 Mask formula. It is part of an ingredient blend, but it is not directly added to the formulas. It acts as a solvent by making the conditioning agents able to blend into the formulations. Cetearyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol with a wax-like consistency. It is often used in hair care conditioning formulas because of its smoothing and softening qualities. It does not contain ethanol and therefore is used in products that are marketed as alcohol-free. Benzyl alcohol is an aromatic alcohol used at 0.5% in the formulas and acts as a preservative. It does not contain ethanol and therefore is used in products that are marketed as alcohol-free.”

It’s the denatured alcohol that I was really worried about because I’ve read that it in particular is bad for your hair, and I suppose typically it is if it opens the hair’s structure. IIRC it’s listed as the second ingredient after water.

Nothing glittery that I remember (no thanks!), but I’ve only used them once. I’ll be using them again tonight. I’ll let you know about creasing. I didn’t notice any last time.

I recently went on a girls’ trip to Chicago and had an hour to kill before I regrouped w/ my friends, so I headed to the makeup counter at Nordstrom. The man who helped me convinced me to try some Valentino products, a brand I had never tried before. He gave me a whole makeover, using the Valentino products. I loved it all. I ended up buying the primer and an eye shadow palette. I debated about buying the eyebrow trio liner, but decided against it.
When I met up w/ my friends, one of them immediately said “wow, your brows look great!” The others agreed, although I’m not sure they would have noticed if the one friend hadn’t complimented me on it. Anyway, after lunch I returned to the makeup counter to buy the Valentino Eyebrow Trio Liner and it’s definitely my favorite new product.
