As a spinoff of the Freezer thread for papercrafters on a self-imposed no to low spending period, anyone hope to spend more on the hobby this month &/or beyond due to increased disposable income/gift cards, interest in upcoming releases, creating/moving/changing workspace/room, or other reason(s)? TIA.

That would be me- I fell for some of the Black Friday sales (Joann and ACOT). I'm finally receiving some of the items this week. I justify the spending because I received a big check from my parents' estate recently. I know my mom would have approved! <3
ETA- I mostly ordered paper pads from Joann and single sheets (a lot of clearance papers) from ACOT. I also checked out Michaels today, but didn't find anything I wanted. I've been keeping an eye out for other sales on scrappy sites, but haven't seen enough to make it worth paying for shipping. Not yet, anyway!
Now if only I could get myself to start scrapping all those family photos I inherited!

Well, I was laid off this morning, so in theory I guess I'm supposed to be in the freezer.
I'm thinking maybe I'll have some time to actually sell some of the excess -- sets from event kits that I don't think I'm likely to use again, shopping mistakes from when I was a newbie and didn't necessarily yet understand my style or how to use/how I would like using various types of products.
Then I could justify maybe doing some modest spending, right? The cooler if you will, instead of the freezer. But not the hot stove for me this "off-season"....

Well I guess that’s me. I made sure to hold back on spending a bit knowing about BF deals. I got a bunch from Elle’s studio sale, ended up going back today for a couple of things as they are still on sale, got some things from Scrapbook.com, a bunch of large Evan’s cut files I’ve been wanting as they were also on sale and signed up for the crop & create April class. I also grabbed some restocks/essentials- nearly glue, acrylics for stamping cause mine keep getting lost and tape jungle adhesive. It was way more than typical for me but I was pleased with the sales and will go back into the freezer here.

Hope you're able to make a little bit of money off those extras. It does take some time and energy so maybe this is a good opportunity. I hope so. I don't think most people succeed at freezing for long but lots of us are chilly. To answer the question, I'm not going to be a frozen pea or a boiled one! I'm not too concerned about staying under a certain budget but I do try and get things I know I'll use well and use up. I'd like to focus more on the consumables that I enjoy (paper pads and die cut packs) and less on the durables that so many crafty influencers are selling new versions of every single month (stamps, dies, tools). I have a small space and need to balance intake and outflow.

I am luke warm. I guess I always am lol
Dh got a COLA and it was retroactive back to start if year but that increase will go towards food and things like new tires, new couch and chair, new mattress.
I have between $50-100 a month (depends on needs like college tuition, medical, etc) but not every month do I buy that much. Some months there is nothing and others maybe glue or refills of tape.
I notice I buy most in March, Summer, and October. New paper lines for every day use come out, and of course holiday releases. There is where I spend most money.
I also like to look at holiday items in January and February because sometimes you can catch clearance and sales to get rid if older product.

This past year, I have bought very little in an effort to use my stash and consolidate to prepare for my baby’s arrival. I live in a 2-bedroom condo, so previously the closet in my spare bedroom/office housed my scrappy supplies. I’ve moved most of my scrappy supplies to a coat closet, so I didn’t want to add more to my stash. However, I am giving myself the chance to buy a new baby collection this year. I just have to decide which one I like. I’m not in a rush though.

Hope you fondly remember them while scrapping inherited photos with your new supplies! I also rarely find "enough to make it worth paying for shipping," given the stereotypically feminine & floral dominance of the industry (& the few exceptions often include an odd yellow that makes it equally unusable for me)...ugh!

Shakti, you have my sincere sympathy on the loss of your parents, as well as being laid off recently. I hope you find new employment soon that is even better for you.

Not sure... I was thinking of joining something subscriptionish so I get happy mail every month, but I am mostly a flat scrapper so it would have to be one that doesn't come with bulky stuff I wouldn't use...
It doesn't help that most of the lines that are on the main sites/stores in the past year are not really my taste, so I when I want to shop I can't find much to buy...
On the other hand, I don't need really more things! Even when I'm scrapping like crazy, it doesn't seem to make a dent and my stash is on the smaller side!

Peamac - Condolences on the loss of your parents. I love that you said your mom would approve your spending on the crafty items you love <3 Shakti - Ugh so sorry to hear you were laid off. I was laid off earlier this year (after 20 years at the same company) but have since found a new job that I love. I wish the same for you! To answer the question - I have probably spent less this month BUT I sent my husband and son a good sized scrapbook.com wish list so I expect I will be getting that fulfilled for my Christmas gift.

I'm going to be a bit hot next week. I just came into a bit of unexpected money, and while the vast majority of it is going into savings, I want to splurge just a bit. There's not much that I want, but I'm going to pick up a few things.
Sending hugs to my Pea Friends who are going through tough stuff right now. Remember, we are always here for you!!

Like you, I also don't subscribe to kits since I usually scrap flat layouts, dislike the current oversaturation of stereotypically feminine & floral in the industry, enjoy mixing/matching supplies, & have a healthy inventory (although it pales in comparison to rooms/spaces posted online).

I don't have plans for any big purchases in the near future. Maybe Crop & Create if there are spots available in January.
I have a tough time restraining myself from purchasing EVERYTHING this time of year. My mind and heart are busy saying YES! to purchasing gifts for others, while my credit card is sniveling in the corner whimpering NO! Most of the time I can hold myself in check b/c I know: 1) my family will probably give me cash or gc's to spend on scrappy goodness after the holiday 2) there is a chance that at least some of the things I want now will be on sale in the week after Christmas when I actually have my gc's in hand.

Thanks for your responses. As reflected in my (lack of) spending over the last few years, I'm frustrated with the stereotypical feminine & floral domination of the industry (& the few exceptions often having an odd yellow-dominant color palette that is equally unusable for me). Hoping the industry gets out of its feminine/floral rut during 2024 (although not off to a good start, since recent releases appear to be more of the same...ugh)!

I spent most of 2023 solidly frozen in the freezer, but I have recently emerged. I left the freezer to beef up my stash of mixed media art supplies and also to replenish paper -- just bought big packs of Neenah Solar White 110 lb. Classic Crest and also their less expensive, partly recycled white cardstock, plus random single sheets of patterned paper from bunches of different manufacturers. And last night, I bought some paints, fabric glue, and a sewing machine...so hopefully I am done with shopping for awhile. I will promptly be heading back to the freezer (or at least, the chilliest drawer in the fridge.) Shakti, I am so sorry you've been laid off! I hope you will find a better job than the one you lost. Peamac, so sorry about your parents! How awful! I hope you are coping okay. I'm glad there was a bright side (inheriting family photos + funds for scrapping), but still,
