I only made it about halfway through the movie last night because I find it difficult to watch, but is anyone else watching/has anyone else watched May December, the new Todd Haines movie based on the Mary Kay Letourneau situation?

I haven't heard of this. Mary Kay was local to me (and I believe you as well) when it happened so I'd like to see this. What platform is it on?

It's on Netflix, and it stars Julianne Moore (as the Mary Kay character) and Natalie Portman (as the actor who has been cast to play her in a movie about her). My understanding is that it is getting a limited theatrical release for awards purposes, but is mostly going to be streaming. The time frame (at least for the first half that I have watched) is when the Mary Kay character's kids with the Villi character are about to leave for college, and Villi is in his 30s. |

I watched it the other night. I liked it but I’m not sure why? Lol. I like Julianne Moore as an actress. I couldn’t quite figure out the motivation of Natalie Portman’s character. These are the sorts of movies I watch when DH is out of town. 😄

I saw the actresses talking about it on watch what happens live... looks interesting but im not a fan of thriller or suspense... so im waiting to be spoiled to see if it is something i really want to watch or not....

I thought it was beautifully acted, but I didn’t really care for it. I don’t generally like melodrama, so I’m sure that played a big part in why I didn’t like it. I also couldn’t help but think of Mary Jo Laturno’s kids and how painful dredging all this up once again must be for them.
