I sent a package to our son in Canada, via USPS on November 27.
As I always do, I asked for tracking and then went online and asked for updates to be sent as it moved through the system. In past years, the updates would say it left location A and was going to location B, and would name the location. This year, the tracking only says it left a location (unnamed) and was going to the next location (unnamed).
The normal route is to go to Chicago, go through customs and be handed to the Canadian system.
After November 27 I got 3 (I think) generic messages saying the package was moving in the system.
Last night (Dec.6) I got this message: Your item arrived at our USPS facility in FAIRBURN, GA 30213 on December 5, 2023 at 12:05 am. The item is currently in transit to the destination.
This morning (December 7) I got this message: Your item departed our USPS facility in CHICAGO IL LOGISTICS CENTER on December 7, 2023 at 7:33 am. The item is currently in transit to the destination.
I would like to ask my Post Office to find out where the package is and what is going on, but I think that would be futile. Everyone relies on the tracking scanning. Apparently the package is having a trip, or some weird glitch is in the scanning system.
ETA: While I was typing in the above message, this arrived in my email:
Your item departed our USPS facility in CHICAGO IL LOGISTICS CENTER on December 7, 2023 at 7:56 am. The item is currently in transit to the destination.

Oh, it’s been wonky for some time now. I still can’t believe that DeJoy hasn’t been fired yet.

Sounds like your package decided to sneak onto the wrong truck, was lost for awhile and not scanned, and finally showed up in GA. Someone then found it, and rerouted it back on its merry way. Yes, so frustrating! With modern scanning, you would think this wouldn’t happen. Hope your package arrives soon!

I hear you. I had a package mailed November 27th from New York. It went to three cities in New York, then Pennsylvania, Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City, and two other towns in the KC area. It might reach me today. At this point, I'm just happy it's finally in the area and that I didn't need it in a hurry.

I for the most part I have had great success using USPS. But occasionally I have that temporarily lost package and it is annoying. I have never had a lost and never found package.

Oh yeah, the post office sucks, as my kids would say. I once had someone mail a package to me from Michigan. I live in Northern Virginia just across the river from Washington, DC. The package went from Michigan, to Pennsylvania (so far so good)... to Georgia, then to Florida! Then eventually back to Virginia. And the whole time I was getting the same type of tracking information as you had... "en route to the destination". I mean, I guess technically is was "en route" since it did get to me in the end. But wow, Florida is not really between Michigan and Northern Virginia. Not even between Michigan and southern Virginia! haha

I hear ya. They are on crack or something. I recently had a certified return reciept in the system for 3.5 weeks.Kept saying it was delayed. Well how long? Try getting a hold of a liver person as well. Almost impossible, but finally did. The woman said she put in a claim. Still nothing, called again and have 5=6 attempts got a live person. Said the woman filed the claim incorrectly. Spent quite some time, but the guy figured it out and said it indeed had been delivered, but someone forgot to sscan it. Call the place it was going too and said they received it, but why in the heck did it take them more than 3 weeks to respond when they normally reply in 2-3 days. Don't ever rely on them for something that is really important.

I know it's the holidays and they're extra busy, but I had a package recently cycle through at St Louis facility for a few days. I was really expecting a notice that the package was lost or damaged. But, it did finally arrive here safely.

After touring America, (or not) the package was delivered today.
Our tracking information had it in Georgia at the same time it was in Canada. One day tracking said it was out for delivery in Georgia, so ??
But it arrived, so that is what matters.
