I watch things on YouTube occasionally, and with my diminished hearing, I sometime don’t catch what was being said. I do put the captions on, but I frequently have it on while I am walking around the room or folding laundry so I am not always looking at the screen to see the text. It has always bugged me that there is no fast forward/rewind arrows like on every other streaming service. And if it was something important to me, like the name of a product being used on a craft video, when I go to rewind via the slider, I usually overcorrect, going too far back and have to listen to the same stuff again to catch whatever it was I missed. Some of that is because of the small screen on a small IPad.
Well, I was wrong. There IS a way to fast forward and rewind! It just isn’t obvious. All you have to do is double tap on the right or left side of the screen! That will provide 10 seconds of rewind/fast forward. And tapping 3 times gives you 20 seconds. This has been a game changer for me and I thought perhaps this might be useful to others.
Am I the only one that wasn’t aware of this?

I’m not sure what you are referring to. I’ve been watching YouTube for years, and it’s always had a rewind and fast forward, or are you specifically referring to arrows that allow you to rewind a few seconds at a time? It doesn’t show while the video is playing, but if you tap the video, it pops up.
Glad you found it, though! Not having that would be frustrating.

My YT app and on line have never had fast forward or rewind buttons/arrows. There are arrows that you use to go to previous video or next with that YT creator. For years I have always double tapped the left to go back and right to go forward 10 seconds.

I recently switched from Directv to Youtubelivetv. I pretty much like it but I do have issues with the rewind arrows. I watch it on my smart tvs. It usually rewinds all the way to the beginning. 🫤

I only know about that feature because I use YouTube primarily for tutorials so I’m always needing to go back and forward repeatedly sometimes and pause to get to the right spot as I’m working along with it. It’s especially helpful for sewing tutorials and similar things where there might be measurements or other things on the screen that I need to take note of as I’m going through it.

Yes, if you touch the screen (not tap) while a video is playing, the 10 sec. buttons show up. Then you can go forward or backwards in increments of 10 secs. by tapping the buttons.
Glad you found this out! Helps so much.
