We are hosting 13 people for 6 days over Christmas and I am looking for a drink that I can make in a large batch so that I am not playing bartender all night. We tend to like drinks with a vodka or champagne base. I do love sangria - anyone have a holiday themed sangria? Or anything else I can make at the beginning of the day or evening?

maybe a cranberry vodka punch - there's lots of variations but they all seem to start with vodka and cranberry juice

I had cranberry vodka spritzer last night, it was good. I don’t like overly sweet cocktails.

My crowd where I used to live almost always did Sonic slushies with vodka for the punchbowl. Cherry Limeade was a favorite for that. There's no easier party punch than that!

This is absolutely delicious , I highly recommend that you use fresh fruits . In the original recipe they called for a whole cup of tequila and we could really feel it midway through the second one .
Palomas
Ingredients: 1½ cups freshly squeezed ruby red grapefruit juice (3 to 4 grapefruit) ¾ cup white tequila, such as Casamigos 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (3 to 4 limes) 1/4 cup simple syrup (see note) 2 cups ice Kosher salt 4 thin wedges ruby red grapefruit, for garnish
Directions: Combine the grapefruit juice, tequila, lime juice, and simple syrup in a quart container. Blend with ice and freeze if prefer frozen. NOTE: For simple syrup, combine 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water in a small pot and heat just dissolves and the mixture is clear. Refrigerate until cold.

I make a pitcher of Palomas but instead of grapefruit juice, use Fever-Tree sparkling grapefruit soda.
I make blood orange margaritas using the Whole Foods blood orange Italian soda.

The family expects these apple cranberry Moscow Mules for all winter gatherings. I need to switch to a punch bowl because I have to mix up a pitcher too often!
16 oz vodka 1 cup of cranberry juice 2 cups sparkling apple juice, such as Martinelli's 4-8 ginger beers, depending on bottle size and personal taste
I use the Trader Joe's Triple Ginger Brew for extra bite.
Serve over ice.

My dad makes a punch every year with cranberry juice, vodka, ginger ale, and champagne that’s really good.

Pimms winter cup. Not sure if it's available outside the UK.

I live in southern Germany. There is only one alcoholic drink for parties at this time of year here - Glühwein! Warmed red wine with sugar, citrus fruit and spices. I usually buy it ready made and just heat it, but many make it from scratch. Slow cookers are excellent for keeping it warm - it mustn’t come to the boil.

My go to for the holidays is Caramel Apple Sangria. We just hosted our neighbors party and it was a huge it. It's a bottle of white wine (I use a Moscato or a Reisling), a cup of caramel vodka, 1/4 cup of caramel syrup, 8 cups apple cider and 2-3 cups of diced apples (I use honey crisp). I mix it in a glass jar with dispenser. It's best it if sits at least a day for all the flavors to mix. If I want to get fancy I put a cinnamon stick in the glass. The alcohol infused apples are the best!!

I will be serving this Watermelon Mascato Sangria at my Christmas gathering. I've done it in both a pitcher or punch bowl and both work well. It's always a hit.
16.9 ounces white Moscato 4 ounces Ginger Ale 4 ounces Monin Watermelon syrup 3 cups of Ice 1/2 cup sliced strawberries 1 orange sliced
Wash and cut fruit into small slices Pour Moscato into large pitcher Add Ginger Ale and Watermelon syrup, stir gently Add sliced fruit. Add Ice, stir gently
I like to make mine without the ice and let it sit in the fridge for a few hours. I add ice right before serving. I make about 2 to 3 seperate batches depending on how many people. Adding a batch when the first gets low.

I haven’t made it before, but I found this recipe and I’ll be making it for a holiday gathering at our house. I’ll be adding a bit of Cointreau to it since my crowd likes things a bit more on the boozy side. www.cakenknife.com/christmas-sangria/

River That looks tasty! I already have strawberry, raspberry, and peach Monin syrups. What are your thoughts on subbing one of those for the watermelon flavor?

I've tried the Strawberry and Peach and they are just as wonderful as the watermelon. I did change out the orange for something else when I did the peach but can't remember what. I also usually add cut up green grapes to both the watermelon and strawberry one. I've never tried the raspberry so not sure on that one.

A spiked frozen lemonade - slushy style in a pitcher made with lemonade and Bacardi Limon. Everyone at parties always loves it and asks for a second pitcher LOL!

I was SHOCKED at Thanksgiving at how excited my family was for standard party punch. They went crazy with nostalgia.
I needed to get rid of some booze before we move again so I brought a fruity vodka, coconut tequila, bourbon, triple sec, and peach moonshine and put it in small glass bottles labeled next to the punch bowl.
They could drink it as strong as they wanted or not boozy at all.
I did a basic Midwest punch of ginger ale and sherbet, and I floated some frozen cranberries and sprigs of rosemary to make it pretty and then did little glass bottles of the booze so it wasn't clutter and a bunch of partially filled bottles sitting around.

We make jugs of Cosmopolitan's. It's the favourite in our house and does well in batches.
