Today I stopped at In-N-Out Burger to purchase a gift card for our grandson. I finished the transaction with the nice young cashier, and before he hands me the card he asks "for here or to go?" We both had a good laugh over that one!
Share a fun, positive interaction you've had recently!

Just talked to an agent with the Colorado Revenue Service about locating an amended tax return from 2021 and he was so helpful and cheery!

I don't know that this was fun but was surprisingly positive. DH enjoys watching boxing so we had an annual subscription ($108.90) for Showtime which renewed Dec 5. Dec 7 the PBC announced they were switching to Amazon Prime so no more boxing on Showtime. Website says no refunds but took a chance and opened a chat. Explained what happened and after about 2 minutes, rep told me we would receive a full refund. And we actually got the refund notification a few minutes later.

Back in August, my spare keyfob went missing. I knew I had it the second Saturday in August. At the end of August, the basement flood happened and finding the fob became less important. I had heard something fall on the floor in the kitchen in between those events, but I hadnt been able to find whatever it was. We searched the kitchen, the garage, pockets of coats and clothes, but no fob. I hadnt wanted to buy a new one yet- it had already been an expensive year.
Yesterday, installers came to put in our new dishwasher. They couldnt find a bag of screws that they needed to attach the kickplate. They went through my garbage 3 times and then the main guy told the younger guy to look everywhere. He checked under the fridge and I heard him say, Well, no screws, but I found someone's keys! It was my fob. Since that fridge is less than a year old, it would have been a long time before we found it!
They couldnt find the screws, so we told them not to worry about it, we would superglue the kickplate if need be. Right after they left, dh found the bag of screws- in our kitchen sink. All of us looked at everything on the counter next to the sink, but none of us noticed them in the sink. I called the older guy and he sent the young guy back to finish the install- they hadnt had a chance to go too far, that's how fast we found them.
So, I may have had to replace all 4 kitchen appliances this year and clean up from a flood, but I didnt spend money on a new fob unnecessarily!

I hit Starbucks drive-thru for a latte or iced tea many days after walking my dog. I pay with a 2018 Year of the Dog Starbucks gift card that DS got me for Christmas and reload as needed. This branch went through a phase where it wanted names for the order. I used a made-up name, Kate, because my real name is unusual and just complicates things. I guess since my card is registered under my real name, it caused a bit of confusion because the name on the account isn’t Kate.
One day, the sing-song-y voice over the speaker said, “Hel-lo, this is Captain Capuccino just back from the whipped cream galaxy, what can I get you?” I laughed, obviously, and that was my intro to Taylor, who waits on me several times a week. He apparently adores my gift card, as he announces to his coworkers excitedly, “Starbucks 2018 Year of the Dog!!!” loudly and then says, “wait don’t tell me!” and recites my somewhat complicated latte order correctly from memory. Every time he waits on me, he creates a new character and catchphrase and remembers my difficult real name.
His enthusiasm and silliness are just so uplifting and always put me in a lighthearted mood. I emailed corporate and told them he was a great employee, a credit to the company and that if he wasn’t a manager, they should promote him.

Fun thread!
I went to the flooring store on Monday morning to place the order for new carpet in our family room. After finishing with the salesman, he sent me to the scheduler. I jokingly said, "So my salesman promised me that you can install this tomorrow." He grinned and said, "I just had a cancellation for tomorrow. Be careful what you ask for!" Indeed. I took the appointment and went home to spend the afternoon moving all the small stuff out of the room (they would do the furniture)! Tuesday it was installed. Wednesday, I put the room back together and put up two Christmas trees in there. And Thursday I left them a glowing review on Google.

Just called Costco to cancel our membership. We don't use it and got rid of their home/car insurance so no membership credit needed for reduced rates. Casper from Costco was great and helpful!

I had to call GEICO recently to pay our car insurance and ds's car insurance (we pay his while he's still in school with no real job). Dh usually pays online (and don't ask me why he doesn't have it set up for autopay...that would be another thread ) -- anyway, dh was out of the country and I couldn't get his login to work. I put off calling for a couple of days because I was dreading it. ugh. I ended up getting a nice American guy with a cute southern accent on a clear phone connection. We paid my and dh's payment, then he pulled up ds's account. Turns out this guy's name was Greg which is also my ds's name. And that cute southern accent was located in Georgia where my ds lives. Greg from GEICO thought that was a fun coincidence.

Over summer I was with ds22, and his car battery died in the car he had just bought. Lucky for us it was in front of an O'Reilly auto store. We pushed the car into the parking lot and went into to get a battery. They were unbelievably helpful as we ran into all sorts of problems trying to get the old battery out and then the new one in. I immediately called corporate, while in the store so they could hear me, to tell the powers that be about how amazing the 3 employees were. I admitted to corporate that I was currently in the store, and they asked me to put my phone on speaker so they could tell them that they would each be receiving a bonus. You could have knocked them over with a feather they were so blown away.

I went to Lowe’s looking for battery operated Christmas tree lights, and didn’t see any. A couple were there browsing the light, and since no employee was convenient, I asked: “How do you know which lights are battery operated? And the woman said they would be in a different location, and proceeded to help me find them. But the shelves were empty. So she told me Hobby Lobby had them, and was specific about where they were located in the store! She was so friendly and helpful. I wished them a “Merry Christmas “ and left with a smile on my face 😁 and joy in my heart ❤️

I went to the government center downtown to file a Transfer on Death deed, so my house title automatically transfers to my kids when I die. Of course, I managed to make a mistake on the notarized form. I thought for sure I'd have to redo it and return. But, nope! The clerks found the correct lot description, had me add it, explained why my original title was unusual, and filed the paperwork for me. They were amazing and fun.

Fun thread!
I bought my husband a very large 2 piece tool chest for Christmas. I want to be able to surprise him and it’s tough with such a large item! I purchased online and a friend and I took her husbands truck to go pick up. I was nervous about it for some reason and it was so so painless. The young man (unfortunately didn’t get his name!) helped us get it loaded and gave me a left down from the truck in his cart thing. He was so cheery for 730 am lol! Wished us a merry Christmas too!
I am always struck how such little gestures and kindness sure can make a difference and set a tone! It costs nothing to be kind!!!

I went to use my birthday credit at Madewell and decided to buy a sweater. I asked if they’d honor the online price, which was lower and had 40% off. The lady told me that the 40% was already taken off on the product page. When I left the store, I added it to my online cart and realized she was wrong.
I went back in and apologetically asked a different cashier if they could fix it. They were so nice and cool with it — even the manager who came out to adjust it — even though I was holding up the line a bit with my weird transaction.
I told them sorry for being a pain, but they were so great about it.
Also, my $100 sweater ended up being only $18 with tax 😅🤓

My son opened a Sam's account and added his son to the card as a complimentary member. He had his credit card attached to his card/membership. He sent his son to get something for him, but when he went to pay for it, the card was declined and said there was no credit card attached. Which there was because son bought groceries the day before and it was fine. Well, because they work and I don't, I told them I could call and ask how one attaches the complimentary member to the credit card. So I did, the woman was confused as to what I needed and told me it already is and I told her it wasn't and that is why I was calling to find out how to do it. After explaining to her about 5-6 times what they were trying to accomplish, she understood and told me a seperate account had to be made for the complimentary member, which I created while speaking with her and it worked like a charm. I thanked her for helping me and she told me, thank you for being kind. I was a little taken back at that as I'm sure I showed a little bit of frustation, but I think she probably was referring to the fact I didn't go bat $hit crazy on her because it took her so long to understand what I was trying to accomplish. I don't envy customer service associates.

This year Santa is buying some kids things and giving cash to others. There will be gloves filled with different denominations in the fingers. When I went to our credit union, I was trying to explain to the lady why I was asking for weird numbers of different bills. She got excited and was almost gleeful about giving me the money back in the order that I'll be stuffing the gloves. It was just a really sweet interaction. Made my day.

While we were middle class, my parents were really frugal 363 days out of the year. They were generous at Christmas and birthdays. My dad was beside himself when I put my hand in the ski gloves and pulled out the $20 in each finger. One of the best gifts I remember getting because it also brought so much joy to my dad as well.

On Saturday I was sitting in the Kohls parking lot waiting for my windshield to clear from the ice that built up in it while I was shopping. As I was sitting there my drivers side windshield wiper flew off. I gathered it up and looked at it and realized I didn't have a clue how to put it back on. There was no way I could drive and hour home in snowstorm without a windshield wiper. I saw an older man a little ways from my car and asked him if he could put it back on for me. He was the sweetest and chuckled at what had happened. I told him what a blessing he was and thank you so much. I could tell he was so happy that he could help me!

I have ordered a few times from Cozy Earth over the last couple of years. I LOVE LOVE LOVE their products. Anyway, last month, I got a handwritten note in the mail from the founder and CEO of the company thanking me for being a repeat customer and how it helped their business. He made me a custom code with my name and random numbers for 45% off my next purchase. I can't believe it! That is amazing customer service! Even if he does that all the time, it made me feel so special. I placed another big order and my goodness the 45 % off worked even with their big sale. I saved a bundle. He has made a customer for life! If you haven't tried their sheets or clothing, you need to. LOL! They are so soft and luxurious! Fun thread BTW, leeny! It's nice to read positive stories. Thank you!

I've been stuck over how to gift cash to my teenage GS--I'm going to do this. My good customer service story is with Social Security/Medicare. For DH, all the paperwork involving work, short-term disability then long term disability, then turning 65 (he's younger than me) and SS disability, has been a bit nightmare-ish. And then signing up for Medicare to start in Jan while all this going on--even people at the SS office have been confused. They set us up with a telephone help call 12/1, and in the meantime, we were stressed over having all actually happen within the needed timeframe. Well, the woman on the call was wonderful, understood exactly what was going on, told us they just needed one form signed by his employer (which we had already got, but could not submit until everything else was fixed from their end). We went in that day to the local office and got another wonderful gal that was able to contact the gal from the phone call, emailed her the form, and everything is now in order and set to start on time. Such a relief. I want to send a note of thanks/great customer service regarding these two ladies.

Then he put rubber cement on the edges of them so they stuck together like a paper pad. He thought it would be funny if I paid for things by just ripping them off the stack. Probably not even legal to do that, but my dad just enjoyed being a goof with me.
