Dr just left a message. I will try to make a rescan appointment tomorrow or Monday. The tech told me they were booking into January for recalls. On a scale of 1-10, how concerning is this find? I’ve never been recalled.

I dont think it's much to worry about ---- I think if it was super concerning, they would get you in much sooner than January. Big hugs. Recalls are no fun.

She told me this as a matter of conversation. I always ask a ton of question to keep my mind busy. She was put out that the people who NEED to come in have to wait 5-6 weeks while routine mammograms can schedule within days. thanks for the hugs.

I was recalled once and it was nothing. I was very nervous. Met another woman who told me she had been recalled several times and it was nothing. Yours is probably nothing.
Once when I was at the imaging waiting room, a woman was berating the staff for calling her back and it being nothing. The woman sitting by me muttered, "Well, would she have been happy to learn it was a tumor?"

i was recalled many times before there was actually something real. Most of the time it's nothing. Breathe in and out.

Me too-- I got tired of the endless rounds of callbacks, the US, the biopsies. The last time they wanted a follow up biopsy I REALLY thought it was unnecessary and another waste of time for nothing. My surgeon told me just do it, you shouldn't skip it, so I did because I trusted him. Well that time, it was cancer. I don't say this to scare you at all--but rather to encourage you that knowledge is power! You're being followed closely and that's the good thing. You can't prevent yourself from developing breast cancer (apart from preventive surgery), but you can rest easier knowing you're being monitored. And the chances that this is actually cancer are pretty slim ❤️ In general I don't waste time getting scared until I know there is something to be scared about. Take that with a grain of salt from someone who is leaving a trail of body parts behind her as she makes her way through life 🥴

This is one of the reasons why I wait for results. Where I go if there’s a problem, they see you right then and there.

I hope you can get in before January - that is a ridiculous amount of time to wait. Of course, chances are it is probably nothing but better to get it checked asap. Good luck getting in soon!

I'm 59 so I was called back maybe 4-5 times before. They say dense breast cause issues AND people with dense breast tissue also have more breast cancer overall. I was diagnosed last year and it was 100% estrogen. I'm good now.

Definitely breathe. It’s shocking to get called back, if you never have before. Maybe they can put you on a cancellation list. There is a shortage of techs, and now it takes longer to get a re-scan. Make sure the re-scan place is in-network for your insurance; I ended up paying an extra $600 for a quicker re-scan that my doctor set up (not realizing it’s up to the patient to make sure the testing location is in-network).

Not to minimize your concerns, but on a scale of 1-10, I’d rate this at a 2. The overwhelming majority of calcifications are benign. A teeny percentage is associated with a new cancer. Be assured. Get it done when they are able to schedule you and, in the meantime, try not to be too anxious about it!

My boyfriend at an intimate moment asked me if I felt a lump. GP felt the lump. X-Ray tech felt the lump. There was no lump. It was just calcification. That was a few years ago and I am still cancer free.

I then got a call the next day for breast MRI and a few days later a biopsy. I was diagnosed with breast cancer, Stage 1 , slow growing, non aggressive. I have had surgery and will start radiation tomorrow. They told me they had been watching this spot for THREE years. Ladies get your mammograms !!!
