She's the nicest lady, always has a smile, and waves enthusiastically at me and my dogs when we're out walking. She delivers packages to my door when they don't fit in the mailbox and cheerfully picks up the numerous packages I ship out.
So of course, I wanted to give her a little something for Christmas. I had the gift card in an envelope already so when she backed up the drive this morning to drop off a large package, I ran out to hand it to her. We chatted a moment and then I grabbed the package off the steps and headed back inside.
I glanced at the label to see which of us ordered it, only to find out it was misdelivered! Same house number but wrong street. It belonged on one of the cul-de-sacs in our neighborhood.
I had to stand there and laugh that I had basically recognized her for good work only to be holding a misdelivered package!
The dogs and I dropped it off to the correct house when we took our walk.

You're lucky. Misdelivered mail is a common occurrence around here. Our mail delivery is horrible.

Our mail delivery is horrible. I read that frequently on-line. I hope our luck here continues.

The dogs and I dropped it off to the correct house when we took our walk. I do the same thing. There are people in my neighborhood though who will post in our FB group that they have a package for someone who is literally next door or across the street to them, and say "It's on my front porch!"

You're lucky. Misdelivered mail is a common occurrence around here. Our mail delivery is horrible. Same here. I get wrong mail all the time including one time the carrier stuck about 30 copies of a brochure in our mailbox. Each piece did have specific addresses on them so I am guessing she didn’t want to sort all the pieces and just put them all in our mailbox.

My son works inside the post office and it's insane this time of year. The plants sort stuff and it can get mis-sorted due to the sheer volume. Thank you for recognizing your mail carrier, they appreciate it!

You are lucky to have mail carriers. We need to pick our mail up at the post office. But the staff there is marvelous. Yesterday I took in a mandarin box of addressed Christmas cards. They quickly sorted them by weight for me, sold me the stamps I needed, then took one of the two piles and applied the stamps to those while I did the others!
We had a parcel delivered to us by Fedex's error (it was inside another parcel that WAS ours). I contacted the intended recipient (his phone number was on the shipping label of his pkg) and returned the parcel to the post office. The PO lady called me to say she could not mail it to him as the label was from FedEx and not Canada Post. I put him in touch with her and not only did she get his parcel to him, but she walked home to print the new label he emailed her, applied it to his package, and sent it on its way.

You're lucky. Misdelivered mail is a common occurrence around here. Our mail delivery is horrible. Exactly! I’m down to paying extra for full UPS delivery. Hate when UPS drops pkgs off to be delivered by the USPS. The pkgs are misdelivered and never show up far too frequently.

We were at my son's home yesterday. I saw a cooler full of soda and boxes of treats next to a big note thanking all delivery people and asking them to have a drink and treat on them. I thought that was very nice. You have to walk up to his door so it couldn't be seen from the street.

For awhile Amazon was doing that with packages a lot, but it seems to have stopped. Maybe they got sick of me complaining every time an Amazon delivery (through UPS I assume) got handed off to the post office. My package would be delivered days later, and sometimes not at all. I think Amazon might have gotten tired of sending me replacements and/or giving me a gift card (which they usually offer routinely if you have a legitimate complaint).

I had something similar with my UPS driver. I was outside, so I just took the package from him. It was for my next-door neighbor. I just laughed and took it over there.
