Ugh. I need to find a way to complain to Amazon directly. Once again, my package was left outside my front door, in the rain, despite me being at home. I have filled out the 'tick the box' form they provide, saying my delivery instructions were not followed and my parcel was left at my 'safe place' (which it isn't - I have never told them they can leave things by the front door) when I was at home. I just feel that my feedback is obviously not getting through. I know its a bummer. I'm usually in the back of my home and don't hear the trucks, so I don't know I have a delivery until I read emails. During the height of Covid, they quit using doorbells. Then I would say about a year ago, they started using the doorbell again, but I would say a few months ago that stopped again. I wonder if it is because of the holiday season or heighten sicknesses during the winter months.
I'm in an apartment. There is literally no place I can be and not hear the doorbell! We still had doorbells even during covid, at least for the delivery people to get into the building. Then would then leave parcels at our individual apartment doors, often ringing and dropping, not waiting for an answer. I haven't seen any info from Amazon saying they have changed, just that they only ring doorbells between 8am and 9pm, so early or late deliveries may be dropped without them ringing, but all of mine have been midafternoon. I guess it is probably because of the increased number of parcels they have at this time of year and they just want to get done quickly, as it started at the beginning of December. Interestingly though, it is only Amazon - DHL, GLS and Hermes are still ringing the bell. teddyw - that is bizarre! It isn't uncommon here for a delivery person to give a package to a neighbor, especially in an apartment building, but it is deliberate and the correct recipient gets a message saying who has their parcel. In our old building, we'd keep it and wait for the owner to come and collect; in our new building (only 3 floors, 6 apartments) we are more likely to put it outside their door, or leave it at the bottom of the stairs. scrapmaven - we also have Prime, and - apart from the Big Freeze - haven't had many issues with delays. Most of my packages are 1 or 2 day delivery still - one of Monday's was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but came early! Their tracking is not great - the trucks seem to go around in circles and the expected delivery time can be out by 2-3 hours.

Mom is still in the hospital, so I’ve had some long days there. She’s no worse, maybe a little better even, but they still haven’t figured out exactly what’s wrong with her. Lucy, I hope your mom will be okay. I was really impressed by her energy and wit when we met. I'm sending my best thoughts for a full recovery. How great that your DD can join the conversation with doc tomorrow. ((( hugs )))

I expect her to live forever.

Good Morning ! Cleaning the Texas room and addressing Christmas cards is on my to do list today. Might have to go get a few groceries as well. For dinner we will be having enchiladas with rice and beans. Just wondering what a Texas room is or if it’s an autocorrect. teddyw I asked the same question when we were buying this home and they said it had a Texas room. It's just an enclosed addition that's made to a home with either all screen or windows. Almost like a screened in porch. Ours is enclosed with 6 large windows for plenty of light. I use it as my craft/family room. I believe in Florida they are called Florida Rooms.

Almost like a screened in porch. Ours is enclosed with 6 large windows for plenty of light. Those are also called 'sleeping porches'. My Texas grandmother had one and it was where all the cousins slept when we visited her. Lots of fun memories of sleeping out there with the windows open and jars of lightning bugs in jars as night lights!

I pop into the dinner thread once in a while and i love everyone here. Your camaraderie and support of one another is a joy to behold. I'm just not sure I have the bandwidth to reply to everyone's sharing and it would feel rude not to... It also feels rude to comment on just one or two people's sharing, like I did with lucy, above.

flanz, it's not rude at all. Don't let that stop you. We have posters who post on occasion and others who post daily. It's like a big family dinner, we can't all get a word in edgewise, but we care for eachother and share recipes and our lives. It's a nice place to call home on the board.

Invitation accepted! Except I'm running out the door in a few minutes. xoxo

Yes, I had the great good fortune of meeting with lucyg, her mom and her beautiful daughter for lunch and conversation back in October. There is even photographic evidence, but i don't know how to post a photo here. We both squeezed in a meetup between family obligations and I'm so glad I had the bonus of meeting some of Lucy's family. I'm sure you guys would enjoy them as much as we all enjoy our friend L. She's the real deal! The only other pea I've met in person is katybee, which was also delightful.
