2024 is almost here (crazy, I know). Have you thought about what projects you will attempt in 2024? I am spending some time this week finalizing my plans.
Here's what I am thinking of undertaking:
OLW -- I know I will have a word. Unsure if I want to try the class and take a 'do what I want' approach or just do it on my own. Probably wont order the main kit either way as I like more color.
PL -- I am going to do a simplified version of PL. 1-2 spreads a month and call it good. I canceled my SC sub (on the fence if I will regret that or not). I currently have AE SOTM sub and wonder if I should cancel it as well. Going to give it a little time before I decide. There is so much product dedicated each month with specific months that I am not sure that I want all of that.
DITL/WITL - probably won't do, but could probably be convinced to do one of them. I haven't done either in over a year so perhaps it's time?
I haven't made a 12x12 layout in over a year and I am missing that....but am unsure how to get back to it. I know that sounds weird, but it seems so intimidating now. Not sure how to fix that. A friend recommended joining Simple Scrapper but Im not sure. Anyone have any thoughts on that?
So how about you? What are you thinking of working on in the new year?

I love this thread, I enjoying reading what everyone has planned. For me, this year I plan to: 1. Continue with PL - it is my favorite project. But this year I am changing it up. I’m still doing weekly but instead of double 9x12 pages I’m dropping to a single 12x12 page each week. I needed more space last year but this year I can cut down. I also really want the year contained in 1 album vs 2. Plus as a bonus I already have all the page protectors I need so with that and only needing one album it’s a cost savings. 2. Continue daily journaling I started this October. I’m considering this a scrappy project as I journal, use washi tape, pens, and stamps on the pages. This is also why I can move down in size on my PL- I can leave out some of the journaling as I have it in this journal. 3 December daily. So fun and a nice departure from the PL style with only pockets. 4. Week in the Life. Same thing- fun to both work in another side and outside the PPs if I want plus the creativity and deeper dive into the week. Random thoughts- I did OWL this year and ended up basically dreading it. The prompts were too woo woo and not for me. lol I will finish it and I like some of what I did but I’d rather spend my time elsewhere. I also have a travelers notebook if a private topic I’d like to spend more time on so I hope to do some things there - with no OWL and smaller PL I think that will work. ETA: I also have a 3x8 album I bought for fall/oct occasionally kind of thing. I wanted to this year but had too much life on my plate. I hope to do it in 2024.

Good question.
I'm not doing DITL/witl OR OLW (although I'll almost certainly have a word). Probably not doing DD or the Oct version either.
I'm debating about how to handle the family albums - I think I need to incorporate some...well not exactly PL but maybe monthly overview layouts for some of the recurring photos - cats, gardening, and so on where I pick the best or most representative photos and do a 1-2 page layout instead of trying to scrapbook multiple layouts from the same month. I see me using grid, colourblocked, and the like for these with minimal embellishment. I still want to do actual layouts as well but the volume of photos is overwhelming at the moment. I'm scrapping our family albums and also an album for the big kids (23/32 - they live together)
I'll probably do an 8x8 high school album for DD17 - she graduates in 2025 and I want to get that started early.
And I'll continue filling in gaps in older albums, working on travel albums, and hopefully get 2023 scrapped - first I have to finish printing - I was printing weekly ish but at some point fell off that wagon.
I do have a BIG trip planned for next October - two weeks in England and Scotland with DH, my sister and BIL - we'll visit our older sister and cousins as well as tourist-y stuff - and I'm so excited. I haven't been back to England since 1990.

I will do DITL WITL and OLW. I have decided to switch from 8.5x11 to 9x12 next year to try it. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but it is for me. I swore I would never switch, all my cardstock is 8.5x11 and I have done this size for 25 years lol. I am going to do a monthly PL and regular layouts mixed in that album. I started doing a decorative planner this year and will keep that up. My OLW this year is live. I love scrapbooking w/ all that I have, but this year I am going to live also

I love seeing what everyone is gonna work on this year.
1. Continue working on PL. I still love the 6x12 albums and stocked up on them a few years ago when Studio Calico had a huge sale.
2. OWL. I've made an album the last 3 years, would like to continue on this project. My word this year is "ENOUGH".
2. Dec Daily. I truely love this project. I didn't finish my 2022, so I'll need to play catch up on that.
3. Travel album. We went to Cozumel in 2023 and I still haven't made a album to document it. Have the supplies already, so just need to find the time to work on it.

I always pick an OLW but do not make a separate album for it. I will have a piece of jewelry made with my word and scrap 2-3 pages about it over the course of the year. Along the same lines, I participate in the photo-taking aspect of WITL but don't create an album with those photos. My Countdown to Christmas (December Daily) album is my favorite project so it's on the list.
I finished my coffee table book of our wedding photos, and it should be arriving in the mail sometime soon. I'll use 2024 to create a wedding album with all the words & feelings & memories that aren't included in the pretty-pictures-only coffee table book.
Aside from that, there's just regular scrapping + any vacations we take. We're talking with a friend who's moving overseas this summer to come & stay at his place in exchange for watching his dogs while he travels so I hope that pans out. We'll take the kiddos on vacation either way so that would be the 1 or 2 other projects I'd have for the year.
I have created 12x12 (printed as 8x8 softcover Shutterfly albums) for 15+ years but am toying with a new size as I create this year's Christmas album in 11x8. If I like it, maybe I will try to create pages for 2024 in a different size?!

mom I’d take the pressure off by scrapping photos that aren’t of a big or important time/person/thing. Alternatively, I’d pick something I’m really excited to scrap and just go. You can always throw it away and print new pics if you don’t like it. You don’t have to share it with anyone. It’s just paper, there’s plenty more where that comes from. Maybe even tell yourself you want to get it done in a set time, if that will help you just make a decision. I know with some people it would create stress. As for my plans this year I am just hoping to scrap more. Craft more in general. I’m making a bit of progress with my pain so hopefully I’ll be able to do it longer. We are going on a huge family trip to Disney this summer (kill.me.now) so I’m hoping to have a lot of pages sort of planned out for each of our must-do rides from each park. Have some ideas jotted down about what photos I want to make sure and take. Look through others’ Disney Layouts for ideas. Lots of itinerary ideas. I’m considering making a digital book for our in-laws and if I’m doing that I’d like a lot of it planned out beforehand as well so I can just add in photos. eta: I just remembered a project I want to complete next year. My Christmas cards! That I may or may not have started last year And I’d like to get my Silhouette set up, along with my scanner(s) and printer(s). And learn how to best use each of them.

I have also not scrapped 12x12 in over a year. I'm not terribly worried, I have stories to tell and tons of photos ready. This time in my life those aren't a priority, someday I will get back to those. It also doesn't help that I have not liked or had any desire to buy a single scrapbook line in almost 2 years. Zero inspiration.
My plans: 1. Project life. I've done albums off and on since 2011. I took 2023 off but have an entire year of SC kits ready to use for 2024. This might be my last year, or I will possibly continue through June 2025 when my last two babies graduate high school. I will probably move to 6x8 size and have less to document. I'm ok with this. PL is a huge commitment and I think it's run its course for me.
2. Ali's Story Kits - I have fallen in love with these. Two 6x8 albums full already and I just started in September. I can't get enough.
3. WITL - Favorite project, will continue this as long as it makes sense.
4. DD - Second favorite project. Also no plans to stop.
5. I MUST get started on finishing my twins School of Life Albums. Both are current up to COVID, so 7th grade. These are displayed at their high school grad party. They are currently Juniors, I promised myself I would not wait until 2 months before the party like I did with my oldest. My issue is I tend to not want to do what I'm supposed to do vs what I want to do. This is a combination of 12x12 and pocket pages.
ETA - I'd really like to try WLW. I've purchased and not used at least 3 kits in the past, so I'm hesitant. But I have all of the 2018 class content unwatched that I could use. I just don't know.

Well, my word for 2024 (unless I change my mind) is 'capture' so... taking all the photos (sometimes I get lazy) and writing stuff down!
DD #2 will be a hs senior in September, so lots of senior year related stuff at the end of 2024. DD #1 was a senior last year, and DS will be a senior in 2 years, so all the senior/high school moments are in my life right now. Also, starting in September will be DS #2 last year of elementary school. Lots of things to capture!
Other than that, just trying to scrap more consistently this next year. I made a jar of prompts for myself that I am picking out of when I don't know what to scrap that I'm going to work through.

I have next to nothing planned or thought of but I need to USE STUFF UP in 2024. I have soooo many more Pinkfresh things than I thought that's just sitting in bins and containers. I'd like to get back to PL for 2024 and will probably gut the 6x12 I was using at the start of the year. Maybe do some sort of monthly or bimonthly thing? I've got cards all over the place from SC kits that I'd like to use, too. I'm on the fence with AE projects and usually decide right before the day or month comes if I'll do it. I have one trip planned for a festival in Vegas but that's not until October so quite a ways away lol but I'll definitely be doing something for that even if it's just a small mini. In short, I wanna use product but don't really have plans for it

I would like to finish a full year of PL one day! I have been doing PL since about 2009, but I have never finished a full year! I am determined to finish a year and get it into a photobook. Who knows, perhaps 2024 will be the year I finally do it? One can only hope.
I also want to finish my Thailand / Singapore 2023 album. I have done 52 pages in the last three weeks, and that only covers halfway through day 5 of a 15 day trip! I am definitely going to have to split it into two books.

Great thread.
1. OLW - I will be doing Live this year. This is one of my favorites. Still debating what kind of album I want to use. 2. Dec Daily - always. 3. I started PL in a HS memory planner in 2023 and then could not keep up. I want to start again in 2024 back in a 9x12 which is what I did in 2022, just need to think about if I need a sub or how to best prep and plan. 4. Continue and finish up my 2024 HS grad's Senior album - really enjoying this project. 5. Will keep up with my weekly and daily planners. 6. Probably WITL as I have done it the past 4-5 years and even though I usually do not 100% finish, I get enough done that it is worth it. 7. A couple of travel albums I want to finish and start/finish from 2023.
That feels like a LONG list - probably more than enough.

Continue memory scrapbooking in my planner.
Finish up some previous years. Currently finishing up 2009-2010. I have my ‘regular’ planner pages I’m converting to happy planners. It’s so cool to reminisce how busy I was when my son was younger. I don’t know how I did it! Lol

I need to finish up 2023 pocket page scrapbook for dd and ds. And then of course add 2024. I do about 3 years per 9x12 album.
And probably DD. For sure not OD. Wasn't into that like I am with DD.

I am way behind. My priority is to do some photo uploading and printing. Do some productive scrapbooking. Not just work on one page for a month . If a layout isn't coming together like I envision. Set it aside for a couple weeks, and do a different layout--move ahead to the next set of photographs. Then a couple weeks or a month later, go back to the unfinished layout.

I need to finish my dgd’s scrapbook before her grad in June. I have most of the pages printed. Need to add some new pages and get them all in order in a binder.
I hope to keep up with my family calendar monthly pages. If I keep current it isn’t such a scramble to finish to be printed in November.
I signed up for a monthly sketch class with Allison Davis.
Hope to enroll in at least one SCT Crop & Create event.

I signed up for a monthly sketch class with Allison Davis. I signed up for this one as well and I really want to keep up with it. I think it will be a good motivation to do some regular scrapbooking. In 2021 I did a combo of project life and 12x12. This is my favourite album, so I want to document 2024 the same way. This means I need to commit to taking photos more regularly. I may do another monthly sketch challenge with my local scrapbook friends, so I will add that to the list in case it continues into 2024.

My main goals for 2024 are to resist FOMO (I don’t have high hopes lol), stash bust, drop all subs, finish some of my in progress projects.
OLW: On the fence but will likely do an album. Might take the class or I might draw from all the old classes I have. WITL: Yes! One of my favorite projects of all time. I would like to make a smaller version, like the journal, but we’ll see. DITL: Yes! I’ll just put this in my PL. DD: Yes! I love it. PL: Yes I still like this project. I’m ready for a change and would love to do it digitally but I have too much product to use up. I’ll stay with 9x12 monthly. I’ve been able to fit the last two years in one album and I’m happy about that. School Albums: I need to start these for my kids and come up with a formula I can use going forward. Baby Books: Finish up my daughters & catch up on my sons.

My plans for 2024:
OLW: will have a word but will most likely not buy the class, a lot of the prompts just don't work for me DITL: will do if the date will work for me WITL: will not do - my life is too repetitive on a daily basis Travel albums: finish 2 very old ones (Egypt: missing a few pages and Ireland: missing some journaling and a few embellishments) and start at least one new one (either Jordan, China or a cross-country trip)
I have almost stopped taking photos just because I am so behind in sorting, editing and printing them - would like to change that. Last month I joined Simple Scrapper and I really like it. I finally get things done and have now high hopes for next year.

What I’m currently thinking:
2024 12x12 album but I may mix in some PL with it
2023-2024 school album (we homeschool)
Finish up 2023
DD 2023 & 24 as I never have space on my albums for December so I kind of have to 😂

I'm pretty satisfied with what I'm doing so I'll keep going. - My main memory keeping project is a square blurb book I work on monthlyish and print for family and us at the end of the year. This past year I kept up with it better but didn't do as much scrapbooky stuff in it. I also took way fewer photos this year and that was OK. - DayOne journal for actual journaling, photos optional. (Digital, cloud based) - making lots of cards to donate - moving old film photos from CDs onto EHDs and Lightroom. I got stopped on that when one jammed in the drive, but I eventually got it out, just didn't get restarted doing the project. - sticker journal for bits and bobs that come my way - stickers, cute packaging or ephemera, etc. It fills up very slowly and I love it.

No projects planned for 2024 😬
My plans are basically doing the 12x12 layouts I love and completing the unfinished projects from previous years.
I have quarterly weekend scrappy retreat already planned, along with regular monthly dates at my LSS ... so this loosely goosey plan is going to work super well

Great thread, momI plan on continuing Project Life. I really enjoy the project though I have only finished 1 out of 4 years I've been doing this. My other goal is to go back and finish 2021-2023 (with about 3 to 6 months remaining to complete in each). I never do my December Daily project in the actual month of December. Life is too crazy and I like to look at the pictures I ended up with to decide what the stories will be and when I want to use certain embellishments. I'll start on my 2023 DD in January and finish it....hopefully by next December. Now that we have completed our big out-of-state move and our new home is finished, I may do a WITL or at least a DITL to reflect my family's new life and routines here. Other than that, I'll do some 12x12 layouts as I get inspired by photos or product.

2024 Goals
OLW-in for the project now that I got the 22 Main Kit for 9.00 I have the '22 class, so may use that. WITL-I have lots of product for this, so I'm going to do it UP this year! I may gather my supplies together soon I'm so stoked for this! Continue with my memory planning the Heidi Swapp method.
In my 24 for 24 List, I have finish 2 unfinished scrapbook projects-these will be my 23 Grenada Trip, 23 Az Trip.
Also on this list is "view all my scrapbook project classes". Not to DO all these classes, but view them, take notes about future pages.
Work on layouts as the mood hits. I recently remade my "workout room" to include a huge table and storage for all my scrapbook/media supplies-what a game changer to have SPACE for creativity.

If you are looking for ideas and inspiration, please take a look at our Challenges board. Right now we are signing up for Quarter ! teams for January to March. You can sign up for a team here in December, and then set your own challenge(s) in the first week of January, then earn points for your team every time you take a step toward completing those projects. Sorry for the blatant promo... Back to your great thread, mom...

PL - will continue to do this in 2024. I go for one 12x12 page per week but do not get worried if a big event week takes more pages.
12x12 - I have not made a whole lot of these over the past 3 years. I would like to make a goal to do at least 2 a month.
Catching Up: During 2023 I worked on PL 2020. It is the only year I did not do PL. I had a baby, Covid, and we did an international move. I have all photos and paper/cards in the albums (it took up 2 albums!). I need to go back and embellish/journal.
I also need to finish my PL album for 2023. I have this week off of work and plan to get it all wrapped up during a few sessions. I have all of the photos printed for the past weeks I have not yet completed.
I will also go on a scrappy cruise this year. Never done this in my life.

PL - I've only been doing PL since 2020, but really enjoy it. I like the idea above of doing one week per page to keep it all in one album and want to give that a try.
WITL - I love this project.
Card making - I've plans to make sure I use any of my purchased stamp sets that I have not used. My goal is to make sure I use or destash them this year.
12z12 traditional scrappy layouts. I've been scrapping since 1994 but I didn't scrap at all between 2015-2019, so I have 5 years of catch up. I've been doing a few layouts here and there and will continue.
