Ladies I want to make a great baked potato!
So......how do you make yours? Is there a link to a recipe or steps to make a great baked potato? We
Oh YUMMMMM!! We made the potatoes tonight! Thank you so much!! I loved the "drop from distance" part of making them. They did come out fluffy that way. Thanks so much for all of your tips! They turned out great!!

For me, I have been most successful doing it this way. Wash (and dry) the potato, poke holes in it using a fork. Brush with olive oil and add kosher salt to the top. Put in an oven preheated to 450, bake for 35 minutes directly on the rack with a pan underneath to catch the oil drippings, rotate, add kosher salt to the top and bake for another 35 minutes

Wash your spud. I use a vegetable brush.
Dry off.
Coat in light oil and sprinkle with kosher salt.
Poke with fork.
Air fry at 400° for 50-55 minutes.

Once cooked, there's a trick to making them fluffy. Before you cut them open, drop them from a pretty good height onto the counter below. It helps to break up the inside of the potato -- plus it's just fun!

Butter. Lots and lots of quality butter. Mushrooms cooked forever in butter and beer. Tender beef lightly seasoned with garlic and onion salt. Dollop of sour cream.

Wash potato Poke holes Rub with oil (avocado or olive) Rub with kosher salt Bake for 60 minutes in a 425 oven (more or less time depending on how large your potato is)
The skin will be amazing!

I will add I let mine sit about 5 min before I cup open and squish. The steam stays in and helps soften the potato more.

If you like a crispy skin, the skin does soften though. I steam my mashed potatoes the same way after I drain off the water. It really does make a difference.

I got a microwave potato bag for a gift years ago. It works really well. The directions to use it are typed out, so you know it is old.

Similar to everyone else, I wash, dry, and poke holes, but I coat mine in butter, because HELL YEAH. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, then cook at 425° for about 50-60 minutes, depending on the size.
A baked potato is my comfort lunch, and I eat it at least once a week.

When I’m feeling rushed or super lazy, I wash it, stab it a couple times with a sharp knife, put it in a bowl and microwave it for about 8-10 minutes or until it’s cooked through. Cut it open, throw some butter, salt, pepper, shredded cheese and a glob of sour cream and call it good. I really prefer them baked in the oven with nice crispy salty skins, but most of the time I don’t have the patience for all that. Someday I really want to try making hasselback baked potatoes, that always looks so good to me but that’s even more work! www.dinneratthezoo.com/hasselback-potatoes-recipe/

Buy a plane ticket to Leeds, UK and get a hot baked potato straight out of the coals of a street vendor’s cart. Best baked potatoes we have ever eaten and i have never been able to replicate it here. Might be the type of potato they use.

First off - it needs to be a Russet potato! Those are the best for baked potatoes. Never use red ones.
I love them in my air fryer. It's the same process as the oven, it just is quicker, and I'm not heating my whole oven for a couple potatoes.
I wash and dry, oil and salt, and put in my air fryer for about 30 minutes. Longer for a really large potato. Check with a thin bladed knife to see if done. I always forget to poke mine before cooking, but you should do that.

I grew up with a baked potato for almost every dinner. I didn't cook them often once I got married just because I was sick of them. I had a friend cook them where she sliced it into about five slices and stuck a little butter and onion between each slice and then popped it into the oven wrapped in aluminum foil. Delicious.

Well this thread sealed the deal that I needed a baked potato with my steak tonight rather than mac and cheese!

Hasselback potato! Probably similar ingredients, but the wedges of potatoes were pretty thick.

It helps to break up the inside of the potato -- plus it's just fun! I’m gonna have to remember this one. I’ll tell you what I do, I wash off the potato pit a few times stick it in the microwave for like 5-6 minutes and then I finish it in the air fryer.
