My vent/rant for the season is just stop it with all the d#@* requests for survey and requests that I receive on a near constant basis lately. Every single order I've placed online for Christmas gifts has been followed up with an email requesting I fill out their survey. Some have come before I even receive the package! If I forget to unsubscribe from those annoying messages, they will send more requests. Go to any store these days and odds are very strong you will get a reminder to fill out their survey (usually following the request to donate/round up to their charity of choice ). No, I am not going to fill out your surveys/reviews. Stop wasting my time! It also seems that no matter what business you phone will include a request to "stay on the line for a brief survey". No, I will not stay on the line. This morning I had to call the insurance company to give them a new credit card number. They did not provide a way to take care of it online (which is annoying in itself). First thing it asks is to stay on the line for the brief survey. Had to call to schedule a mammogram (they disabled online scheduling ) and yet another request for my time for a survey. Enough with the surveys and reviews businesses! If you'd stayed through my rant I appreciate it. Now if you'd be so kind to just type a quick response and let me know your review of my rant/vent and if you would like to participate in future surveys? However, no elusive prizes will be offered.

I don't mind some of the surveys. But they are Christmas gifts that have not been given yet. How do I know if they are liked or useful or whatever??

The thing is, we know they don't actually care. So, I've often wondered what the real scam is behind all of those requests are. Of course, some for local or small business are probably just about engagement. But the corporations? What are they up to?

YES! I have just stopped responding to the requests. It's been my doctor, dentist, dad's dermatologist, Caribou Coffee, and Amazon all this week.

Unless a survey comes with something that benefits me (like Nothing Bundt Cake....do the survey and get a buy one-get one free bundtlet) or a substantial savings coupon (like 40% or more off an item).......then I can't be bothered to complete a survey. I always do the Bundt Cake survey(if I get one on the bottom of the receipt), because doing so is worthwhile.
Some but not all....surveys, ask the same question 10 different ways. It's annoying.

Of course, some for local or small business are probably just about engagement. But the corporations? What are they up to? It’s not a “scam.” They feed into metrics that assess the level of customer satisfaction, commonly NPS (net promoter score). They’re used in the performance reviews of individuals, they’re used to rate departments and teams, and many other things. Whether or not your feedback results in the kind of changes you would like is an entirely different issue, but the results are most definitely used.

Sing it! If I've been on hold and then on the phone for a long time, the last thing I want to do is spend more time answering your stupid survey. Also, I just want to click and submit. I don't want to answer a survey. Leave. Me. Alone.

A couple of times I DID want to let them know how I felt. I stayed on the line and no survey came, so then I hung up.
But, I agree with the OP--too damned many surveys from every corner of our life.

Unless it comes with a discount or something, it's not worth it to me...

I will do Chick-fil-a surveys because I get a free chicken sandwich for doing it. Otherwise, I ignore pretty much every survey that comes my way.

I always wish they would ask my opinion on the music they play while waiting..ughh Or the frequency at which they play a message about hanging up and using their web site, which clearly doesn't have what I needed or I wouldn't have been holding!

In addition to the surveys, after looking at an item I get “ did you forget something” emails. If I was ready to buy I would have.

I’ll be the lone dissenter because I received an email asking for a review on an item I ordered on Black Friday but never received! I went back through my emails to make sure I had actually ordered it and didn’t delete it from my cart, but sure enough it was on my receipt but wasn’t in the box with the other items I ordered. So in my case it was a good thing they asked for that review or I would never have remembered that I even ordered it.

Agreed!
I make jewelry out of polymer clay. What bugs is that I get a “review this item” request basically the day I receive the item. How the heck can I review something that sometimes take me weeks to even try?

Surveys and tip requests for doing a regular job (not at waitperson pay) drive me crazy. Tonight I picked up a meal from Chilis and the tip request started at 20% and went up. I went to the restaurant and got it myself. No one took my order, served me, asked if the food was okay, refilled a glass, cleaned off my table. or took my payment. I'll happily pay someone 20% for that, but bagging my food?

My sister in law was a travel agent. She’d get dinged on her review if her customers didn’t rate her all 5/5’s. That’s not fair to her. I might be totally satisfied with the service and rate it a 4.

I just got one that said that I have a "chance" to win something. Um, no thank you.
