I read this on another source. So is there any instance where he would have had a medical reason to use Ketamine? Was this an unintentional OD?

I read it today too. Hopefully someone with knowledge of ketamine will reply. Regardless of how he passed, I’m still very sad about it.

From the article
Perry — who was "reportedly clean for 19 months" — was on ketamine infusion therapy, with his latest treatment taking place just "one and a half weeks before" his death. However, the coroner noted that "the ketamine in his system at death could not be from that infusion therapy, since ketamine's half-life is 3 to 4 hours, or less.

So sad. Addiction is a terrible disease, and so often it starts with self-medicating mental health issues.

Someone I know is taking ketamine for depression. He went from infusions in an office to being able to take it at home but in both cases, he's supposed to be in a dark quiet room where he can lie down while he takes it and feels its effects. He says there are 10+ minutes where he is not really aware of or capable of moving his body as he would normally so there's no way that a medical professional would have ever indicated that it was okay for Matthew to take ketamine in a pool.
This friend also said that no medical professional would have prescribed him to take both ketamine & buprenorphine at the same time. There has been some chatter about some doctors beginning to microdose people just starting on buprenorphine with very low doses of ketamine but if he was taking ketamine infusions, this would not have been why he would have both in his system.
It sounds like an accidental OD and him trying to get high off the ketamine which is hallucinogenic for many (but not my friend) people.

Ketamine therapy can also be used in cases of bad arthritis, particularly for psoriatic arthritis. I know I will never be able to have it. I shattered my ankle last year and when they gave me ketamine while they reduced the fracture and dislocation I stopped breathing. Not fun.
