I loved seeing the happy news posted by mom2rjcr about her husband’s new job. I’d love to see more happy stories Here’s mine: At the beginning of November, my dad had a stroke. It was also discovered that he’d had a few mini ones before that. He has a few different health staff/therapists that come twice a week. Thankfully, he’s doing much better than we expected. Through one of those therapists, my mom has found the perfect place for my aunt (her special needs sister) to live. My aunt has only been there three days, and is very happy. The home caregiver is a nurse, as well as her daughter, and will be taking great care of her…even getting her out of her wheelchair and walking again. She will even be able to come home to visit at Christmas now! They are both beside themselves with relief. It’s been a long time coming.

1. Creepy guy at poetry is finally leaving me alone. (Huge deal for me though I still don't like being in same room as him).
2. Finished antibiotics and steroid rounds.. 3. Selling more things on eBay lately.

We finally got our truck back from the body shop today! It was damaged nine weeks ago in a parking lot accident. Dealing with the other drivers insurance company has been a true comedy of errors. I cannot believe this particular insurance company is so popular, because our experience with them was terrible, but it’s all over now!
A week after our truck was damaged, my FIL had a heart attack. DH and I got on the very next flight we could to get to Arkansas. It was a pretty stressful few days, but the doctor was able to place three stents and FIL was released from the hospital the next night. A few days after he got home was his 91st birthday! DH and I stayed with him for his first week back home, and he is still doing well and feeling good. We are very thankful!
Tomorrow is our 21st anniversary, and we are celebrating by going to see a stage production of White Christmas! We have a lot to celebrate right now!

I cannot believe this particular insurance company is so popular, because our experience with them was terrible, but it’s all over now! UGH Accidents are a PITA. I am so sorry you had to deal with that, but glad it’s all over. We are just now getting our Jeep fixed from an accident about 3 months ago. Our ins says that her also very popular ins is a true PITA to work with. It has taken the body shop 3 weeks to get our bumper. We dropped the Jeep off on Monday, and they are saying we won’t get it back till after Christmas! A week after our truck was damaged, my FIL had a heart attack. Oops! I totally messed up the quote stuff. Most of my responses are within the quote box.

My good news is not as good as yours…
But, I *almost* graduated from college 23 years ago. I was unaware of one math class I needed to take, and found out a couple of months before graduation. So, I walked anyway, then figured I would get the class done later so they could send me my diploma.
23 years (and 3 kids) later, I finally finished the class. They are mailing me my diploma in January, and, in April I am walking again with my college, just for fun! LOL!
I am 53.

My DD and her wife are finally moving into their new house this weekend. They had their offer accepted back in May, but the owner died in late June, which caused a very long delay. They finally got the keys on the 1st of November, and have been busy rewiring, replastering, painting, sanding the floors, etc etc. They are so happy! Their rented flat was tiny (about 350 sq ft!) and now they have a 3-bedroomed house with so much space. I’m driving down next week to spend Christmas and New Year with them, and I’m looking forward to it very much.

Ds22 was asked to be the estimator for a construction competition, in February, by a very large construction company that is sponsoring the group ds is in. They had him shadow their estimator, and ds showed their estimator a new trick. They immediately offered him a job when he graduates in May. He is quite chuffed to be wanted, and can now see that he is likely to have multiple offers as a result of the competition, which he fully expects to win.
I'm pleased to see him launching in his chosen field, and so very proud of him.

My brother filed a military PTSD claim seven years ago. This week he finally received a judgment and compensation backdated to when he first filed. He’s spent a lifetime with emotional issues related to his service but we’ve heard it’s hard to get a judgment. We’re so grateful - he can absolutely use this money.

These stories are giving me goosebumps!
My good news is next Friday dd and her partner close on a condo. They will spend a few days getting it painted and then move in by December 29. Many of you remember she left a bad relationship when dgd was 5 months old and they moved to our new home with dh and me. It’s been a tough 7 years for all of us with dd and ds losing their Nana and Dad, losing my dh and Dad and so much life happening along the way. We are all thrilled!
On January 8 I have a painter coming to start painting all of the ceilings and walls in my condo. He’s also going to paint the trim and interior doors which have been stained/varnished for over 30 years and he’s painting my oak kitchen cabinets white! On January 22 the contractor comes to replace all of my flooring with LPV and they’re replacing the carpet on my stairs. February 2 I have a new refrigerator and dishwasher being delivered. I’m making a huge investment in my home and am so excited to have it all done!

This is a wonderful story for you - having had our two grand babies at 2 years and 9 months I appreciate your joy for the wonderful outcome for you DD and GDD. Our DD had a good outcome as well but it was difficult at the time. I can hear your excitement in getting your home decorated for you! A lot of work but I’m sure it will be worth it in the end. A new beginning for you.

It's stressful, but fun. He sounds like a great guy!

I had a partial mastectomy in December 1st. Also a reduction and lift at the same time. My pathology report came back all clear with “good margins”! N will be taking a low dose preventative and have 3 weeks of radiation (also preventative) but feel very lucky that everything was caught early AND seems to be cleared out. We had already planned on Christmas in CA with my best friend since I was 9 and I am cleared to travel. My DH and I are going to Disney to celebrate in January

My 86 year old mother was able to attend my grandson's hockey game last night. My sister drove her and my brother stayed with dad.
She saw a great game - they won, grandson had a goal, a penalty, and a great check right in front of us. So, she saw it all!

Companies are on board too if it means some people get frustrated and stop trying to deal & get less money. I’ll never voluntarily leave my insurance company, they dealt with the other dudes asshole ( and popular ) insurance company for me & it is worth every penny

The pharmaceutical company changed manufacturers of the cancer drug I take and it messed up my insurance/ pharmacy/financial aid. The drug cost over $22,000 a month, after insurance I still owe about $11,000 a month. I have a rare cancer with so very few alternative treatments. I literally need it to stay alive. Yesterday I got my pills and the relief was immense. I’ve been so stressed out for the last six weeks or so. I finally feel like I can breathe a little.
This thread is a really nice start to the day.
