Ds22 was asked to be the estimator for a construction competition, in February, by a very large construction company that is sponsoring the group ds is in. They had him shadow their estimator, and ds showed their estimator a new trick. They immediately offered him a job when he graduates in May. He is quite chuffed to be wanted, and can now see that he is likely to have multiple offers as a result of the competition, which he fully expects to win. I'm pleased to see him launching in his chosen field, and so very proud of him. I love "he fully expects to win" Good for him. I did a lot of estimating in my construction career. It's stressful, but fun. He sounds like a great guy! He must have spent extra time in the confidence line while being created, because he certainly has a lot of it. And he is typically spot on in his confidence. Way back you and I connected thru the fact that we were women in construction, amongst other things, like I simply adore you. When you said you did estimating I was rightfully impressed as estimating isn't for sissies. When ds said he wanted to go to school for construction mgmt, I could easily see that estimating, bidding, and scheduling were going to be where he would shine and told him as much. Holy cats was I right! 😋 I'm thrilled that he recognizes that he chose his degree well.

The pharmaceutical company changed manufacturers of the cancer drug I take and it messed up my insurance/ pharmacy/financial aid. The drug cost over $22,000 a month, after insurance I still owe about $11,000 a month. I have a rare cancer with so very few alternative treatments. I literally need it to stay alive. Yesterday I got my pills and the relief was immense. I’ve been so stressed out for the last six weeks or so. I finally feel like I can breathe a little. This thread is a really nice start to the day. Oh my! That’s a lot of money! I’m so glad you got some and are now feeling better, but sheesh! Big hugs to you!

My youngest DD has gotten accepted to 3/5 colleges she's applied to. We're still waiting to hear from the last 2.
The really good news: 2 of the schools have offered AWESOME scholarships. She's very interested in one and her top choice is one of the ones she hasn't heard from so the waiting continues!

Thank you for all of your positive stories, you've quite literally lifted my spirits.
I lost my mom in April and am doing ok, just every once in a while it hits me that this Christmas is without her and it hits hard.
My special needs DD (26) made me a "Positivity Jar" where she wrote positive statements on post its, crumpled them, and I'm to grab one when I'm feeling down. She did it 100% by herself and they are such sweet things. I'm so very lucky to have her and she makes me smile all the time. Today her and my other dd (25) are at their childhood best friends house and keep sending me pics of the shenanigans they're up to, I love it!
I'm just feeling very grateful today for my family.

Only once was I the person in charge on a small project. It was nerve wracking, for sure! I was usually just one of the grunts doing the labor, ha ha. I remember our previous discussion about women in construction.

May they be as merry as possible!

Let’s see… I have the kids still living with me and life is wonderful. DDIL and I are going out driving later because she needs practice. (She is an eligible but newer driver and DS drives a standard tranamission.
All my Christmas presents are bought. I need to get the dog some toys.
I have 2 parties to go to this week. I am getting my hair coloured and things are great!

One of DH’s vendors hosts a Christmas party for their employees and clients and we went to it last week. They always have a bunch of door prizes that they do drawings for and I almost never win stuff like that when all the names are in one big bucket. This year they did it a little differently and had us put our tickets in the basket for the thing we wanted to win most, and I won a $1400 Miele coffee/espresso/fancy drink machine! I don’t drink coffee at all but DH does, and we think we can use it to make hot chocolate too which DD and I would both enjoy.

Saturday (12/16), I graduated with my Masters of Science in Deaf Education!!!! It was an online program, so I'd never set foot on the campus before. The university is in the next state over (about 2.5 hour drive) so we drove up on Friday morning so I could participate in the pre-graduation activities, then graduation was on Saturday. It was awesome!
Thank you to the teacher Peas who answered my questions about various things over the last 2 years. Thank you to the Peas who contributed to helping me establish my new classroom. I use everything I was given and I am soooooo appreciative!
Merilee

Now time for the decision...I don't envy her in the least
