We watched the episode that takes place about 6 months after Diana's death. The young actor playing Prince William was perfect but we didn't think Prince Harry was cast correctly. He looked too old for the part. JMHO of course. I think he would have been 12 or 13 at the time and the actor looked to be at least 15.

I just started watching last night and I agree with you about the casting of Harry. I'm about two episodes in and will finish watching today in between household chores.

I finished the season and the last half was..meh. Wouldn't have missed much if I hadn't watched it.

I haven't cared for it much since Diana appeared. Not that I don't like her but before the show was mainly centered around the Queen with smaller story lines for others then it just switched to the Diana show. I know she really stole the show (in real life) but the Queen was still doing her job, dealing with all the things she's always dealt with. The years before Diana came along, Philip, Charles and the other children could have had bigger story lines if it wasn't the Queen's show. Each Prime Minister always played a part but not since Diana.

I do not understand why they picked the actor they picked for Harry. Ye Gods he’s a terrible choice. But I am also having a super hard time with the sparrow from GOT as Pr Phillip and Umbridge from Harry Potter as QEII LOL I didn’t mind when they introduced Diana and Charles storyline but I just don’t love how they have moved away from the Queen as the focus.

Once Diana appeared on the scene all the other royals essentially became supporting roles in the media as Diana was the people's princess.

My biggest puzzle is regarding the choice as the Queen mother. She is horrible.

Yes he was a terrible choice and now I know where I knew the 'queen' from- I didn't make the Harry Potter connection but knew she looked familiar.

I just finished tonight and I really liked the episode centered on Princess Margaret. I didn't really like the episodes about the boys as much. The last episode was moving.
I will miss this series as I have enjoyed it over the past 6 years.

I, too, think Harry is miscast. I think his dialogue is ridiculous as well. Harry was in high school at the time of the first couple of episodes and he’s making all these witty quips that a thirty year old character in an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel would make. I just don’t buy it at all.
I also agree that the queen mother is miscast. She’s not given any good lines either. I’ve always imagined the queen mom as being witty and fun., even in her old age. (I’ve only seen the first three of the latest drop, so maybe she gets some better lines?)

I thought of the Queen Mum as sort of a cute older lady in real life. Not this one. And poor Margaret…she in many ways was also the spare, like Harry.

I'll dissent here and say I liked it. I literally bawled at the last episode, I thought her exit was beautifully done.
I'm not a Harry fan at all so I didn't think he was miscast. I don't think the writers were fans either as they didn't exactly portray him in a good light. I liked that they showed the cracks in the brother's relationship. They showed Harry as the angry one and William as the more sullen and introspective one. To me that tracked.
I am sad to see it end but it had to as I'm not interested in the story now that the Queen is gone.

I just started watching this show this past weekend because of this and another group I’m on. I’m not a royal watcher by any means, but I am an Anglophile of sorts from way back— Monty Python days— and I absolutely love it. There is so much I didn’t know about Britain— shame on me!

I thought all in all, the series writers were pretty kind to the royal family this season. They presented the story of Diana and Dodi from the royal family's point of view-Diana just considered Dodi to be a friend, she never intended to marry him, she wasn't pregnant and the wreck was due to Henri Paul's drinking. William was very likeable and dutiful. Harry was a brat. Camilla came off well. I've never been a fan of Camilla, but I almost teared up when Charles got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Kate was sweet. The only person who might be very unhappy w/ the last few episodes (other than Harry) is Kate's mother. They were rough on her. (Although I have always wondered if she did convince Kate to go to St. Andrews in hopes that she would strike up a romance w/ Will).

There was an article in this morning’s USA Today about the ending…the theory was that the ending wasn’t the ending. I too thought that the story would end with her death. When the door slammed, I was still thinking there was another episode.
I really like Imelda Staunton. For Downton Abbey lovers, did you know she is married to Carson the butler?

Those last 2 Diana episodes were so well done. The scenes with the photographers, the cars, the streets, it was so claustrophobic, you could just feel the tension. That was really well done. I loved the Margaret episode, too. I agree about Harry. Actually, I was confused at first when he had his first appearance, I thought he was a friend of William's at first. This was a good season. My absolute favorite season is 2, but this was good too. Oh, yeah that Queen Mother was just weird.

I've only watched a few of the new ones. It definitely has a different feel. But I guess that's what happens as time marches on.
The part that caught me off guard was Diana talking to Charles after her death. I didn't care for that interpretation.

We watched the finale last night. Overall we thought it was well done. I'm pretty sure H&M wouldn't like it given the job they did on Harry. The three miscasts were Prince Charles, the Queen Mum and Harry. I thought the actors playing the Queen, William, Catherine and Camilla did a great job. I thought they showed too much of Diana, I would have rather they showed more of William and Kate older. I'll miss the series.
