Hi everyone! I had a bit of an adventure last night ... I hadn't been able to get in touch with my girlfriend for a couple of days ... her neighbour friend called me last night saying the same thing and that there were packages outside her apartment door for days ... ugh! So I go over there (her neighbour has a key), we let ourselves in expecting the worst ... she's asleep on the sofa ... totally drunk ... sigh! At least she was alive ... I need to have a big conversation with her today because this is ridiculous (not the first time) ... Anyway, thanks for letting me vent! I should probably check on her today ... I need to grab a few groceries and then get ready to go see Alberta Ballet's performance of The Nutcracker tonight with my dd's! We haven't done this in years! When I had season's tickets it was an annual thing. I will probably take them out for dinner after ... I also need to start writing my letter of resignation so that I can hand it in to my principal on Wednesday ... Emma said she would help me with it! This is what I posted on Facebook today: How was Ellie's first night home jeremysgirl? What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

leannec enjoy the show with your daughters. jeremysgirl Congratulations on your new furbaby. She is beautiful ! I'm going out to do some errands today and might go have a light lunch. Tonight we are going to a dance in the clubhouse. The theme is "It's 5 o clock somewhere " Sounds like it's going to be fun. Dinner will be a taco salad.

Good evening all, leannec - the situation with your friend doesn't sound good, to be out off contact for so long and you finding her as she was. I hope you can guide her to find help. We've had a fairly normal, quiet Saturday here. Grocery shopping as usual first up. When we were in the butcher shop the young lady serving us asked if we had put in our Christmas order yet - we hadn't, so we ordered a baby turkey (about 3-4kg) to pick up next Saturday morning. Once we were home, I also made a list of everything we will need for Christmas dinner. I will also need to put some thought into what else we will need to survive the Christmas break . shops here are shut from Saturday evening (about 8pm) until Wednesday morning (7 or 8am), so we need to be prepared. After lunch, DH went into the city to go Christmas shopping and I stayed home to do some baking and wrap his presents. He snuck in the downstairs entrance when he came home, so I guess my presents are hiding in the cellar! Dinner tonight will be steaks with a pasta bake that is chock full of veggies. We have just heated up some Glühwein for a predinner drink.

leannec, does your friend have other friends or family who support her? Sounds like she desperately needs rehab and intensive therapy. Time to put up your boundaries and support w/love, but take care of yourself. Are you teaching now or on leave? Enjoy the ballet. bklyngal62 have fun tonight. Woohoo! sueg, clever dh is hiding your Christmas goodies. I get lots of puzzles for Christmas and birthdays. So, whenever an Amazon package arrives and I can hear the shaking I tell dh that something he ordered arrived in 1000 pieces. I'm feeling pretty icky. So, nothing will happen today. I have one thing to wrap. We were gonna go to mil's house, since we haven't been there in several weeks, but I have a call into one of my doctors and it just doesn't sound like a good idea. Still, Santa must prevail. So, I will use the time to hit amazon and finish my stocking stuffers. I've been complaining about stocking stuffers for 2 weeks. How can it be so difficult? Have a fun, relaxing, happy day, tribe.

Just got back from a hike with DH. I'm pooped. Now I'm off to find another gift for him. The driver (golf) didn't work out so I'm back in the hunt. He needs a new pair of slip on loafers so I'm trying to find a nice pair. Dinner will be bean soup ~ so yummy! It took me a few seconds (and some counting!) to get this.

She doesn't have many friends ... she doesn't have a car so goes almost nowhere to meet anyone ... All of her family lives in British Columbia and we are in Calgary, Alberta ... her family is a strange group of individuals - especially her mother ... they constantly say the weirdest rudest things to her and it tips her over the edge (she is bipolar) ... I am definitely tired of treating her like a child ... I have two grown children ... I don't need the responsibility of a third! I am on a medical leave of absence until I retire at the end of January ... I will never have to have a classroom of my own again! The ballet is going to be a lot of fun!

leannec We all need a little vaca, ish 5 cloch shumwhere. bklyngal62 If it's 5 o'clock somewhere, it's gotta be fish tacos. I was going to cook a big roast, baked potato, corn on the cob, and muffins, and bake an apple pie. I just remembered, tonight is $12 Christmas dinner at the Clubhouse. Maybe some other day for the roast.

We are taking advantage of the unseasonably warm weather and smoking some chicken wings. I think these are the last of the wings I had in the freezer ($1.99/lb over the summer and it is only drummies and flats, already cut apart)
I have a box of Suddenly Salad, but I ditched the packet inside and threw Olive Garden Italian dressing in it instead. And a can of baked beans to round it out

Hi guys! Sorry it took me so long to check in. It's cookie day and I am up to my eyeballs in sweet treats. Pictures to come.
We had a nice night with Ellie. She's nervous. But she's pretty sweet. She's been with us all day over here at Grandma's house baking cookies. We couldn't leave her alone all day when she doesn't really know us or the house yet. But everybody seems to be a big fan. She's on good behavior. I think she's going to be a nice addition to our house.
Anyway we just ate tacos for a very late lunch. So maybe later 2e will want a snack but nothing too big.

Silly me decided to do a WalMart run for groceries! Why oh why would I go on a Saturday when I can go during the week? Bad idea, it was crazy busy.
We are going to the local brewery to celebrate my brothers 60th birthday tonight. He told his kids that he wanted a party so they are throwing him a party. I bet we don’t stay long but need to put in an appearance.
There will be food at the party but not sure what or how much so we will eat before we go. DH will have soup and a sandwich and I’ll just have a sandwich.
A couple friends gave me some books today. I love love love getting books. They aren’t new, but new to me since I haven’t read them. I sometimes read three or four books a week so I go through a lot.

jeremysgirl. That dog is adorable. Where or who did Jeremy rescue her? They are smart dogs. Jeremy's oldest daughter has a girlfriend. They are young. She was living with her boyfriend and they broke up. She has to move and could not take this dog with her. Truthfully I could see just how broken up she was to let this dog go. We assured her she could come visit at any time. And I think it made her feel better to know that we were the ones who ended up with the dog. Since she knows my stepdaughter she knows we are good, responsible pet owners. Here's the end results but it was after all the kids left and took all their containers of cookies. So this is about 2/3 of what we actually made today.

leannec I'm so sorry about your friend. I have a friend who struggles with alcohol and it's tough on her and all who care about her. I hope you enjoy the Nutcracker. scrapmaven for the stocking stuffers are you looking for little things? or bigger ones? I hope you feel better. karenlou so glad Miss Grace is doing better! jeremysgirl That's great she could join you. Ours loves loves loves when we go to family. They have a golden doodle and they play and romp. Whoa! That's a lot of cookies!! I used to bake like that. Now I do three types of cookies. Next week I must do some baking. Today I did some clothes shopping and on the way home stopped for some takeout. The guy said "$6.62" so I gave him $21.62. He was like "ma'am do you want to apply the whole thing or just the $20". I had to explain he would give me $15 back exactly, no ones, no change...too funny. I seem to trip up sales people when I do that. Tonight we will just have chicken tortilla soup.

Goodness gracious jeremysgirl , that sure is a ton of cookies! How long did the take you to bake and decorate? It would have taken me days. (Sometimes I wish I didn't feel like I have to put on airs and graces here, and could say what the words that actually popped into my mind instead of "goodness gracious"! ) We took DS and his girlfriend out to a Vietnamese restaurant for dinner. We went back to the one that delivers your food and drinks on a robotic cart, because we thought DS's girlfriend would get a real kick out of it. Unfortunately we were seated at the booth closest to the kitchen, so an actual person brought the food to our table. Boo! But our drinks came from the bar, which is on the other side of the restaurant, so they came by robot cart. We placed three different drink orders, just so Mr Robot would come to our table multiple times. You also order food and drinks by QR code at the table, so it is really quick and easy.

AussieMeg my mom bakes the sugar cutout cookies the day before. She also started all the candy. I baked one type of cookie (2 batches) at home this morning before I left. And I took three other cookie doughs with me. My sister and I arrived at 11 am. She brought my teenage nieces. They began helping grandma finish the candy while my sister and I started the baking. Chloe rolled in at noon. She jumped into the candy too. They were able to finish it up by 1:30 or so. My sister and I kept baking our cookies. Jeremy's kids showed up around 1:30 and all six of them and the baby decorated the sugar cookies with Grandma and finished up just before 4pm. We took a break and ate tacos. My sister and I finished up the baking and after dinner we brought out the wine. The kids took their cookies and went home. And we stayed to divvy up the remaining cookies and take some pictures. I was home at 8pm. I made 4 kinds of cookies. My sister made 4 kinds of cookies. Grandma made one kind of cookie +the sugar cookies. And grandma and the kids made 5 different kinds of candy. It's exhausting, but we have been doing it since Chloe was a baby.

Hi everyone - Happy Saturday!
Today I did a few things around the house and then took dinner to my dad who is still on the mend from Covid.
One of my sisters texted that we needed to go to this cute store so we did and I have my exchange present for our family party tomorrow. After shopping, we went for wine and apps at a favorite place, which ended up being my dinner. Went and saw my mom in rehab and now I'm home relaxing with a glass of wine. All in all a fun day.

She’s staying at my sister’s house for the moment. Can go home when she’s strong enough. Housekeeper (hers/mine/ours) is helping out with the mom-sitting. jeremysgirl, your cookies and candies are amazing! I do nothing productive.

jeremysgirl what an adorable little helper! We have an ornament thief in the house. When you see our golden run down the hall you must assume he completed his mission to sneak by the tree and grab the knitted candy cane ornament. We finished our Christmas cards and sipped on the Italian liqueur and ate the shortbread cookies and watched You've Got Mail (while writing the cards). Yay!
