My husband and I are on different plans - but he misplaces his phone a lot. So I'm wondering the best way to be able to locate his phone from mine. What do you suggest?

Have him sign into find my on your phone and have it locate/play the sound. Then hunt it down. This happens daily in my house with 3 phones, 2 iPads and a computer.

If he's into fitness watches/step counters get him an Apple Watch. I love my Watch, and honestly the single most used thing on there is the ping-my-phone feature. Probably less expensive to do what seaexplore suggested though. haha

. If you have an iPhone as well (or even an iPad or Apple Watch), this will be the quickest/easiest method to finding his phone.

does he keep the ringer on? I'm terrible at putting my phone down SOMEWHERE in the house and not being able to find it. I have DH or one of the kids phone it and then I can follow the ringing.

"Find My" on the iPhone. You have it on your iPhones already. They don't have to be on your plan. I have a couple friends that sent me theirs, so if they lose their phone, we can use mine to search. They aren't even on the same carrier that I am. You can always see their location when you look at it.
Works great. I lost my phone in a river bottom pasture in tall grass. No ringer on, phone was face down... but using my husbands phone I was able to drive my Gator around until I was right on top of it. Whew! Wouldn't have found it until that pasture was grazed down, and it would have been toast by then. I use it for my AirPods too.

I tried this, but couldn't get his phone to show so must be missing a step. Love the idea for airpods since I lose those myself.

I tried this, but couldn't get his phone to show so must be missing a stamp. He needs to have Family Sharing turned on as well. busy - is that something he can do by logging into his icloud account online?

He can use Find My from a browser without having Family Sharing set up. support.apple.com/en-us/HT201472But since this sounds like it's a frequent thing, I'd recommend setting up Family Sharing for the future - it will make it a lot easier.

I tried this, but couldn't get his phone to show so must be missing a step. He will have to do this with his phone: Open the Find My app and select the People tab. Tap the Add button . Select Share My Location. Enter the name or phone number of the person that you want to share your location with. Select Send. Choose to share your location for One Hour, Until End of Day, or Share Indefinitely. He needs to have Family Sharing turned on as well. You do not need family sharing on.

I LOVE the FindMy app - so I can find DH! It’s so useful when I’m waiting for him to pick me up from somewhere.

I LOVE the FindMy app - so I can find DH! It’s so useful when I’m waiting for him to pick me up from somewhere. I call mine "Find My Farmer" .. I worry sometimes when he is late. If I can see he is in his shop, I am not to concerned. But with livestock, I worry about him sometimes!

When DS was stationed in Hawaii and he called and told us he lost his phone. We used "find my phone" and he was able to go to the store where he left it the night before. Still sitting on the shelf. This was in Honolulu, I'm shocked it wasn't stolen. DH used to use it all the time to see if I was still at work when I was late coming home. I was notorious for not calling to tell him I was working late and my days didn't always end at the same time everyday. Best app ever!

This. It’s the simplest way to go. It’s also how you find your AirPods or the case!

If it’s just list somewhere around the house, I just call it.
We also have Find My Phone.
