I didn't take very many Christmas morning. I don't know why I didn't- I always make it a point to have plenty to scrap.
My nephew's birthday is Christmas Eve and we got together for that, so at least I have photos from that to scrap.
Because my nephews had to go to their father's Christmas afternoon the celebration was pretty short. The whole family is getting together Thursday to spend the day doing an escape room game, lots of jigsaw puzzles, and things like that. Just laze around the house like we used to do when the kids were young. I'll make sure I get a lot of photos of that.
So how many photos do you take Christmas day?

My son got a new camera a few weeks ago and he was the photographer this year. I have no idea how many he got, but I was happy to let him do it.

this year I got very few because I just got caught up in the moment. It is a fine balance, for me, of being present and just experiencing it all and then I can get too caught up in the pictures. I got just a few of them opening gifts which I do prefer to have more especially with the actual gifts open because. I think it is fun to see over the years what people get as gifts. We did a few family pics at my in laws later in the day but I do wish I had thought to get a family pic and more gift opening pics on the morning of. I did get a bunch of the tree before anyone opened anything...so at least there is that!

We pose each year for Christmas jammy pic's on Christmas Eve. And I got a few shots of dgs with his cousins after supper, and one of him with his Santa cookie plate. Family who is not "home for Christmas" (actually celebrating in their OWN homes, rather than at mine) usually share pic's of their activities with me aiming for a page or two in a scrapbook.
Christmas morning photos are difficult to take. Light is never good. Lots of action and clashy colours. Three of us had phones out and caught a few pic's of the action. Other years I have managed a pic of pulling the Christmas crackers open, but not this year. I had wanted pic's of the food, but didn't think of it when cooking or eating. During December I got photos of different cookies I baked and a couple of boys decorating with a Wal-Mart cookie kit.
Yesterday after our guests arrived and while I was making final touches on dinner, I gave my dgs (aged 10) my phone to go around the living room to take selfies with everyone. Lots of laughter I heard during the process, and the pic's are really fun.

I took 75 this year. That is between the stocking and tree with gifts, the dogs in their new beds, the kids going through their stocking, opening gifts (all 4 of us), using my new Le Creuset item, dinner, and gifts set up (Legos, train, etc).

I took a few photos of the gifts under the makeshift tree, then we went to someone else’s family Christmas (4 generations, cousins I barely know) so we only snapped a few pictures. We got a couple with our group together, almost everyone represented, but none of the entire gathering. I’ll have to see if my mother got anything that captures the chaos. I can work with what I got though. Sometimes having too many photos makes it more difficult for me to scrap.

I just sent in my Shutterfly order and I had 180 in my Christmas 2023 album.
Now that counts pictures from a trip to see my Dad on 12/23 where we did an ornament exchange, Christmas Eve at my Mother-in-law's house, Christmas morning at my house and Christmas afternoon at my mom's house. I also don't really edit my pics and I do take multiples and just print them all and scrap the best ones. I for sure won't scrap every pic. I tend to stick to a double page layout for each "event" so I should have 8-10 double page layouts for this year's Christmas.

Christmas season: 356 (which might include two December birthdays.)
Christmas Day only: 100. I haven't gone through and deleted the blurry ones or duplicates yet though.

I had issues with kidney stones on christmas morning so taking pictures didn't enter my mind at that time. It settled enough by late morning so we were able to do presents then, but only a couple photos were taken and only of DW because she asked for them. I have a photo of us by the tree and in front of the wall of christmas cards. Then another with our countdown boxes (Laduree for me, Cheese Brothers for DW). That's about it for christmas eve/day. I definitely had a lot more last year!

I have an abundance to choose from
Christmas Eve - 22 here and 49 from my older kids
Christmas Day - 103 here and 121 from my older kids
Boxing Day/book exchange - 22 here and 35 from my older kids
and we have another gift exchange once the last box arrives from the big kids so we'll have photos from that as well

I have quite a few between Christmas Eve and day but we’re on vacation so that’s why. We didn’t do gifts or anything. Just Christmas pjs pictures which is a tradition. Others are from activities we did those days.
Present opening pictures are actually my least favorite to scrap so I don’t do many of those types.

I took 35-40 photos of the four of us Christmas morning + 75ish? photos of the large family gathering at my parents' house. Besides my BIL taking several of his daughter, I was the only person taking photos at either gathering. Those were whittled down to 20ish for our morning + 40ish of the family gathering. For some reason, many of my photos were blurry at my parents' house despite lights being on & windows being up; I'm still not sure why that is but it made narrowing them down easier.

I'm almost embarrassed to say!
I took 340 on Christmas Day, which was in the morning with DSO and the kids, then at lunchtime with DSO's family. Then I took 110 on Boxing Day, which is when I celebrated Christmas with my side of the family.
A lot of them were multiple photos of the same shot, to make sure that I got at least one good shot without anyone closing their eyes!

Christmas Eve --- probably about 40.

Well, we had our Thursday get together and I didn't take many photos then, either. Except we took a lot of the pets with the .5 magnification on the phone so they look all distorted and goofy. I have a huge amount of those. They are very funny.
Looks like there aren't going to be many Christmas layouts this year. It is never my favorite thing to scrap anyways.

I don't take very many Christmas photos anymore either -- less than 10 of our immediate family on Christmas day, and a few (5 - 10) at the Christmas lunch at my FIL's. My SIL's take dozens of photos at my MIL's big family Christmas lunch (usually a day or two before Christmas) and posts them to Facebook, so I download any photos I like of theirs from Facebook (15 - 20), which usually only includes one photo of our immediate family, and a bunch of photos of theirs. IT's much easier than handing phones to other people to take photos, but then there's usually only 1 photo of me (since I'm an inlaw). There are not any young children at any of these Christmas gatherings, just us boring grown-ups, so that's probably why there's just not that much to photograph anymore. My total Christmas photo count is usually less than 50. And I usually only do 6 - 8 Christmas layouts a year - a couple of pages from each gathering.

I took too many. I’ve yet to find the delicate balance between being present and taking photos.
I’m the only one in my circle that takes photos regularly and it’s becoming more stressful than enjoyable. This year I’m going to focus more on enjoying the moment rather than taking photos.
