I love eating cottage cheese as a high-protein, easy lunch. Lately, I’ve been topping it with tuna and veggies. But it’s getting a little old. Does anyone have any easy toppings you like to add? Or is there already a thread? I tried to search….but the search function was grumpy. Thanks!

I think there was a thread not long ago but I’m not good at searching on my phone.
My fave is to sprinkle Everything Bagel seasoning on top. One of my favorite snacks!

I like it with walnuts and cut up apples. I like the crunchy contrast.

Freshly cut pineapple!
Blueberries and a handful of granola. Drizzled with honey.
I love cottage cheese and treat it like yogurt as far as topping choices - especially for breakfast.

Red grapes cut in half. This is normally the only way I eat cottage cheese. lol. I do like it, but I've just never eaten it except with grapes. The red ones only, no green grapes in my cottage cheese. haha -- If there are no good grapes then I can get by with canned peaches (based on the assumption that we can never get good fresh peaches here, but if I could then I'd do fresh). That's it.

To make it palatable I have to have pineapple, then I like to add berries and toasted nuts.

I blend it in my food processor with a pack of ranch dip mix. It’s not as good as sour cream, but it gets me to eat more vegetables.

My preferred mix-in is cantaloupe. Peaches are a distant second.

Tomato, cucumber, red bell pepper, green onion, chopped pistachios and a sprinkling of Everything But the Bagel seasoning. Basically, this recipe from Skinnytaste.com: www.skinnytaste.com/savory-cottage-cheese-bowl/I don't like sweet food for breakfast, (which includes fruit), so this is one of my go-tos, especially delicious with homegrown tomatoes in the summer.

Has anyone seen whipped cottage cheese in a major grocery store. There is a Tik Toker I follow who always has whipped cottage cheese. I think I might like that better. I loved cottage cheese as a child, but now there is something about it that I dont care for.

My preferred mix-in is cantaloupe. Peaches are a distant second. When I was a kid, my mom used to serve us a scoop of cottage cheese on a lettuce leaf with half of a canned peach on top. I haven’t had it that way in decades. Usually I liberally sprinkle black pepper on it and eat it like that.

Just blend until it’s as smooth as you like. There’s a jello salad that my grandmother made with cottage cheese, cool whip, sugar free orange jello, and fruit. She would cream the cottage cheese so that it wasn’t lumpy. In the winter, it was mandarin oranges and pineapple. And even fruit cocktail if she was feeling fancy. In the summer, she would add in grapes, strawberries, and blueberries. That’s my favorite jello salad. If you can overlook the cool whip, it’s actually pretty healthy.

It's takes a hot minute to get it smooth but once it is, it can used for so many subs in food.

I had a friend that made a mixture of cooked hamburger, onions, peas, and cottage cheese that she ate every single day. There might have been some grated cheese in it too. She said she sometimes switched to spinach instead of peas.
She felt it gave her protein, calcium, and a vegetable so she considered it a complete lunch or dinner. I personally never tried it. I just remember seeing a huge bowl of it in her refrigerator and her saying that she didn’t like to cook so she tried to come up with something that covered the bulk of a meal’s necessities and combine them. She would then have an apple for dessert. For her, eating wasn’t for pleasure but just for required nutrients. I guess it made her grocery shopping very easy.
I tend to make mine super easy by adding either one of those snack sized packs of chopped peaches or some fresh sliced tomato with a tiny bit of salt. I guess I am not that adventurous.

Tomato, cucumber, red bell pepper, green onion, chopped pistachios and a sprinkling of Everything But the Bagel seasoning. This blend sounds good too. I'm adding this to ones I want to try!

These are great ideas. Thank-you!
A couple others I like: chopped cucumber, red onion, Kalamata olives and a dollop of tzatziki (I would add tomatoes, but I don’t like them).
Chopped avocado, shredded cheese and pico de gallo (which I DO like…weird…I know).

My MIL had an old Nebraska recipe with cottage cheese, mandarin oranges, pineapple, orange jello, Orange sherbet, and mini marshmallows. It was so refreshing.

I scoop it with the homemade type tortilla chips from the Mexican market. I know that is not what you are asking for but boy is it good!😁

I like just plain cottage cheese. Or with canned peaches. I also blend it to substitute for yogurt and make dips. I also blend it to make egg bites at home.
