Is anyone else getting their scrap area ready for the new year? If so, what have you done?
Today I dusted my tables and shelves, vacuumed, took down the Christmas lights, organized, and wrote down the rest of 2023 pages I need to work on. 16 total. Going to start one tonight.

That sounds ambitious, pantsonfire! I cleared enough space on my counters to put together a couple of pages today, and put away some of the tools I have been using for cards. Need to go through my photos and make a list of page titles to keep me focused. First pages will be all about December, so I am keeping out all my Christmas scrappy supplies. My goal will be to finish those pages off and stow all those supplies back into the corner cupboard where they reside until card making starts in October.

I printed all of my photos for 2023 (up to October 31st). Then I put them in piles, found a sketch, found paper and have them all in baggies in a tote ready to go.
And then I think I need to paint my walls. The room didn't get painted when we moved in the house 2+ years ago and they had previously painted the walls and the trim all in the same color. I'd kind of like it to be fresh paint with a different color on all of the trim work. I have so much furniture in that room it will be an enormous undertaking, but I kind of feel like I could do one wall a day and be good.

I cleaned my desk off totally on Thursday. It was beautiful and lasted one day. It’s good knowing there is a desk under there though.

It’s been a work in progress the past few weeks for me. I reorganized all my papers with new sleeves, made things more accessible on the shelves, by theme, reorganized my carts, cleaned off tabletop. I have gotten to embellishments or PL things as I don’t know how I want them to be.
I also took out my exercise gear and put in a rug, curtains, chairs, bookcase and side table. Floors all vacuumed and washed. It’s a breath of fresh air now and I was all ready to start, but then DH surprised me with a new laptop. Setting that up with all my photography editing stuff, printers, etc was more work than expected!

That sounds like a great goal for this week, thanks for the idea! I'm off work until the 8th.
My scrap room is also a guest room, so there's a full-size bed. The bed is always my catch-all place for those items that need a home and right now, it has caught too much!

Yay! for everyone who's working on their area. My space is in pretty bad shape right now as all the Christmas stuff that I pulled out of the closet required me to pretty much pull everything out the closet to access Christmas. I took down my tree & decorations this past Wed and have gotten it in the closet but still need to put everything else back. My hope is to go through the 3 tubs of misc stuff and pare them down to 2. This weekend I ordered 4 inkpad storage containers fr sb.com to help corral that mess. Hoping this will keep my momentum going and I'll actually accomplish something. Thanks for the spark pantsonfire. Also: glad you found your desk @ecvnj

I *love* a good area reset. My scrapbook room is in pretty good shape as I got things organized back in December. I do, however, need to push myself to get in there and install all of my cabinet hardware. I have been putting it off for 6 months now and really want to get it done so I can just be done with the room and working on it.

I'm inspired to do a reset before I start planning pages for a crop tomorrow. I need to put away the piles and find my table. Thanks for the inspiration pantsonfire.

Honestly just cleaning up after the December Daily chaos has helped a lot! I got everything finished up and put away, reorganized my Christmas stash and tucked away the album. Now if I could get my PL album finished for this year that would help a lot. I've got too many SC kits backing up and cluttering my desk right now.

I will be tackling some much needed reorganization projects! I have bought various containers and such to use, but need to rethink how some things are sorted due to increased volume of products as my interests have changed. In general I took organization a lot more seriously over the last year or two to the point where I need to organize my organization supplies lol.
I also have a few areas which have become sort of dumping grounds, so need to go through those things. I have a tendency to hold on to every little thing that could maybe one day go in a scrapbook or art journal so I need to go through that stuff and do a serious purge.
I am also going through the exercise of documenting goals for the new year and plan to list out some more granular craft goals, most projects I want to finish. It's not as if I sit down to scrap and can't think of what to do, but I find putting those goals down on paper does help me with focus overall. My problem is always focus over time. I have time but don't feel like I use it intentionally, so just overall trying to set myself up for success.

I usually do this as part of my getting ready for and coming home from my big multi-day crop in the spring. I didn't get a chance last year because when I got home, I had to immediately start working on graduation party plans and decorations. Hopefully this spring I'll do a better job, especially since I'm finally at the stage where I will simply throw something out instead of keeping with the intent to add it to a junk table...because most of the time it is outdated junk.
I will do a minor clean up when I'm done with my DD album, but I haven't made too big of a mess with that this year.

I'm impressed with everyone who has started prepping for the crafty new year. My scrap room is an absolute disaster. I can barely walk through it. I hide all the Christmas presents in there along with the wrapping paper, ribbons and bows, etc., and then it's my son's birthday right after Christmas so I hide all his birthday stuff in there, too. So now those are all cleared out but left behind is a mess of stuff to organize and throw out and put in the basement, and then I have to clean up from my craft projects from December. I'm still finishing up a few mixed media projects and have to start on my December Daily - that 's my January project. I will organize and print my December photos while I watch TV at night.
I'll just use you ladies for inspiration for when I finally get a chance to tackle my room. Boo hoo I have to go back to work tomorrow, my free time has come to an end.

Yes! I've been working on getting my space into shape since putting christmas crafting away mid-December. I recently got a rolling cart to move my sewing machine onto permanently, freeing up room for a second workspace. I have art supplies to move where the sewing supplies were, once the sewing supplies are moved onto the bottom shelves of the rolling cart. Once the art supplies are moved over, I will have even more storage available in my scrapbooking workspace, so I will end up doing another reorg in that space. It's definitely a "give a mouse a cookie" domino effect in there, lol.
I have a 12x12 iris container full of layouts to put away that were made last spring during online events. Once that is done I think I will be ready to start creating again. I'm so excited!

I did a reset last week. I had been working on a big project and have almost finished it. I'm down to journaling so it was a good time to clean up the enormous mess I made of paper and embellishments. It covered my two desks and lots of floor space. Now everything is tidy and ready for new projects. I'm considering reorganizing my paper before I start any layouts, though. I'm not thrilled with how it's categorized now.

I started painting my space. I cleared off two walls and have painted one window frame and the inside of it (at leas a foot deep recesses window). My ACOT package showed up and I tossed it in my closet. Told myself I couldn't open it until I finished painting. Will probably take 3-4 days to finish with all of the painting and trim-work. Previous owners painted it floor to ceiling one color. The ceiling thankfully is white. They did this in other rooms INCLUDING the ceiling with grey. We've invested a lot in BEHR paint.
Once I finish with those two walls, I'll haul stuff back in and start the next two walls.

I've started a mini reset on my space that wasn't planned. As I was packing up my DD supplies, I took the opportunity to go through my embellishment containers and have pulled out some things I'm just not drawn to. I did a quick flip through my papers and found a couple of things to get rid of and am eyeing up my inks next. I did a full clean up last year of my stash, but I've barely scrapped since then and I think the distance has let me be more objective about what I really still love and what I'm likely to use.

I went through my photos and memorabilia and sorted out what I had. It’s now all in chronological order so I can see what years I haven’t finished. Shocked I still had 2020 stuff.
I don’t scrapbook by date, but I do put away by date so I thought the 2020 albums were complete.
Next I’ll be going through all my wet mixed media to see if anything has gone bad and in the bin it will go.

Yes! It's a work in progress, but this week I've been going through my stamp and craft die stash--putting new purchases into my storage system and identifying the ones I won't use (from DT work). There's an annual flea market for scrapbookers at a store near-ish me. I decided to sign up as a vendor, so that is motivating me!

I have also been working on this....oh my goodness. It is an eye-opening experience! I think I need to be in the deepest buying freeze ever! That being said, I still love my stuff and it's nice to see my desk again. I still have a fair bit of a ways to go but I think it will help me be more creative at the end of the day.

I finally got all my Christmas stuff down and put away yesterday. While working on that, I worked on some organization of crafty stuff. Like many of you, I feel like I need to get rid of some stuff and find better ways to organize what I do have! I get a bit overwhelmed with it though and am unsure where to start! Hopefully I find some ideas and get something accomplished.

I did an end of the year evaluation of my albums -what gaps remain, what layouts I still want to do for 2023, what trips I want to focus on this year, what needs to be printed still - and made a rough gameplan for the year of what I want to work on.
My scrapbook space is in pretty good shape. I tend to clean as I go and dusting/vacuuming is on my regular housework rota. DH did recently buy me some containers for my nuvo-type drops and I've gotten those into use.
At this point, it's mainly a case of getting started on an actual project...

I got an Amazon GC so I treated myself to a Scrap N Easel. I’ve one for a while. They cost more than I wanted to pay, but since I use my scrapbook room to work from home, I really need it. With it, I can more easily move a layout in progress. A few months ago, I bought some IKEA cubes to store my paper. I got them out of Iris bins stacked on a wire shelving unit. I downloaded some pictures to Shutterfly. I did a general dust and vacuum.

My scrapbook area is in my bedroom. In November I bought a 96” long sheet of melamine and had it cut to 36” wide. It fits perfectly in the area I have, along one wall, on top of 3 double stacked modular cubes from Michael’s. I have my two wide Alex carts underneath it. I have a 4x4 and a 2x4 Kallax next to each other on another wall. Starting this weekend I have to pack everything up to get ready for some renovations. I’ve decided this is a good time to reorganize some things and maybe purge a bit as well. My dgd is almost 8 and has a cubby in my cubes for things I pass on to her. She will be happy with anything I contribute!

I did a huge reset this summer when I moved into my new house. I was brutal in purging - so much so that I actually have some spare space in the closet. So far I have not been tempted to fill it up. My work space is two L shaped desks that form a U. Scrapping computer on one side - sewing machine and serger on the other. The desks face the window so I have a wonderful view of the olive orchard. At the far left of the desks is my heat press, cutting table for sewing and next to that is my paper tower. My embellishments are in clear photo boxes in a tower to the right of the computer.
I'm content here.

I just finished going through my punches (I have over 200). I purged about 20% of them. Felt good. I also finished painting my scrap room and just hauling it all off against the wall was time consuming and back breaking. I couldn't decide between a light green or blue. Went to the store and ended up with greige. I don't like grey, but thought the color would look nice against the white windows. The color looks taupe and the wall I face definitely looks beige. Can't explain how weird the color change is, but I do like it. It looks clean and all of the old holes are covered up now. I thought I'd be a good 5 layouts into the 2023 year, but I'm okay with being behind. I ended up putting five boxes of scrap crap and storage in my vehicle to bring to our local second hand store. So many storage pieces that worked well in my old scrap room but not this one. Here is a picture of the paint on two different walls. When they say the color reads differently in different lights, they aren't kidding.

I put away all December supplies and started cleaning up our office. I have some stuff to put on eBay and I'll take photos tomorrow. The weather will be too bad to go out, from what has been forecast.
I'm not going to do any scrapping for a while as it's time to declutter the house and do more work on the reno.
The one project I will do is organize my travel supplies. I sorted the paper but the embellishments are a mess.
