lg, the markets sounds interesting. Are these booths in a building? Just tables at my Nannas church, think very small but regular and profits go to charity so I’m all for our old stuff blessing one person as they now own it and another as the money helps them out 😁

Tossed some expired food items.
Consolidated and tossed some of the Christmas decor boxes when taking down the tree this morning. Spent all the energy on taking down the tree and getting the boxes back into the storage room. How I wished I had energy to declutter just a little in the storage room.
Struggling terribly with fatigue. Been off work for a month and a half due to COVID and “viral syndrome.” Today was a big win for me.

Today has turned into an organize and scan important documents day. We recently moved retirement funds to a new financial advisor and have settled on a separate retirement advisor (they will work together in tandem). Went in somewhat prepared yesterday for the meeting but came home with a list of documents I needed to send over. Some were in .pdf form but the older stuff was not so I've been scanning those. Now I just need to send the email over. For those needing to scan documents check out the Notes application on the iPhone. While DH has a pricey Evernote account he saves documents to I refuse to pay the Evernote prices for an occasional scan. The instructions to scan with Notes are here and I'm wishing I'd figured this out sooner. Struggling terribly with fatigue. Been off work for a month and a half due to COVID and “viral syndrome.” Today was a big win for me. I'm so sorry you are still dealing with the fatigue. Hope you regain your strength soon!

**GypsyGirl** Work is going through an audit of our records, and our HR girl asked me if I had a copy of my 2nd offer letter because she didn't have access to her physical files. She's lucky I'm a paper pack rat with a scanner. 😂🐁

Daily declutter task from My Simpler Life Declutter Calendar:
Declutter one bedroom shelf.
They are convinced we have several bookshelves in our bedrooms. If you ran out of shelves last time, are all of your other horizontal surfaces decluttered? What about the chair or exercise equipment acting as a clothing valet?

I feel this, I have fibro among other issues that affect fatigue and it can be debilitating can’t it? I’m really sorry you’re dealing with that. HUGE win if you got all that done especially feeling like you are, not just big. HUGE. Where is sockmonkey with the (Julia Roberts’ Pretty Woman) GIF when you need her? I have to sit down to do a lot of my decluttering. Which is one reason why Dana K’s put it in its home immediately when decluttering doesn’t work for me. It’s got to be all about efficiency. Get up to go to the restroom or get a drink? Take things to put away en route and maybe grab a basket and some items out of a drawer on the way back to go through before I get up the next time. Also big on using a basket to put everything away in a circuitous route around the house when I declutter. Less steps = less energy used. When you start with your gas tank 1/8th full you’ve got to get inventive Hope you’re feeling better soon!

I’m at the point where I think I’m ready to invest in a good document scanner. Been going back and forth for a while because I do like having some items physically and I didn’t want a mixture. But I finally decided in the past couple of weeks that it’s happening soon so I’ll look into this. I started Evernote way back when before they charged anything beyond purchasing it. And I have so many long term notes in there. Even to use it free I have to decline the option to pay for options that should be (and some that were) part of the original package every.single.time I enter Evernote. So I’m looking for different options for that as well. Thanks for the Notes recommendation, I’ll check that out, I'm also a prolific Notes user because of Evernote’s fees, but there are lots of things about it I’m not in love with. Maybe this source can help me with those too!

I “decluttered” at least a dozen jars of tomatoes that DH canned… in 2015. 😳 Yeah, nobody is eating that! So I dumped all the jars, washed them and moved the empty jars down to a box in the basement. I didn’t want to get rid of them because sometimes he gets an itch to can or pickle something and the jars can be hard to find at certain times of the year. There was space in the basement for them so that’s where they went, freeing up space in my laundry room for other things that would be more conveniently stored there.
While I was pulling all the rest of the empty jars out of the cabinet they were in, I went ahead and trashed some dog food that expired in 2019 and some really old, stale open bags of dog treats opening up another half a shelf. 😎 While I was in that cabinet, I noticed that there’s a bunch of party paper plates and napkins in there too that could be taken to the lake cabin. We use paper plates there more often than we do at home because we can burn them in the fire pit, so off they go to where they’ll likely get used.

A bag of worn out toddler make-pretend toys went out last trash day. A huge, large bag. gone from the basement.
Tossed two of the three pairs of yardwork sneakers. Just kept one pair (the best fit & condition).

Sounds as if we manage the same way. My reference through was a battery. I never have more than 25% of my “battery” full. Now, I am waking in the morning at 5%. Thank you! 😊

alsomsknit Oh no, I’ve heard bad things about COVID setting off pretty severe autoimmune flares. No wonder you’re feeling so rotten! The fact that you’re functioning at all, anything beyond eating and basic hygiene is awesome. I hope this trend of being able to do more continues so your batteries is your version of fully charged again.

Daily declutter task from My Simpler Life Declutter Calendar:
Declutter one bedroom shelf.
If all of the visible areas are decluttered select another drawer to work on.
I am hoping to finish up in our master closet this weekend. Then it and our bedroom will be in excellent shape!

alsomsknit - (((Hugs))) my decluttering task is only half done because I was unwell and ended just going to bed - going to finish it up now. DH bought me a huge paper pad of photo realistic paper a year or so back. I've used a few sheets but as a 8.5x11 scrapper - not all of the 12x12 designs will cut down well. So I've pulled the pad apart and sorted into keep and donate - now I need to put away the keep and bag up the donate. I have another paper pad I need to do this to as well.

Today I mainly put my energy towards sheet mulching a path between a fence and my veggie garden plot with cardboard. Next month I'll cover the cardboard with mulch. It involved moving heavy paving stones, etc. It used a lot of my energy, so I didn't declutter today.
But I have had lots of decluttering thoughts. Noticed several things that are going to leave the house tomorrow. I'll list them once they're actually out. Don't want to declutter-jinx myself.

Ha, almost never! So with this list when I am feeling up for it I can quickly find something to attack that I know will be fruitful. That along with the declutter calendar and my newfound motivational videos and I’ve made tons of progress this year!

Found some out of date muesli bars in the pantry (almost unheard of in my house as I’m a huge first in first out and clear the fridge/freezer/pantry before shopping gal… some of the meals we have are super weird 😂) and got rid of them. Threw out the shelf stoppers in the fridge - I like my shelves sliding so I can clean more easily and I am not moving any time soon! Sent the old soft drink can dispenser to the markets - hubby not drinking soft drink any more so we don’t need to store heaps of cans in the fridge. Also cleared out our games cupboard (took to the markets) and kept just a couple - my kids don’t like puzzles or board games. Why do we have a cupboard full of things they’ll never play or use? I’m not huge on playing them either which doesn’t help 😇
Got my hiking box out of storage as my daughter needed some items from it for an upcoming camp and decided the 20 year old sunscreen and bug spray were probably past their use by dates. Went through the rest of the box and threw out the leaky water bladder and the torch that had battery corrosion through it (also got rid of batteries in my head lamp but thankfully that still worked) Lastly I was storing about 20 moving boxes for a friend and she had a friend of hers come and collect them yesterday - these boxes have helped four people move to date and I’m so happy the blessing continues…. And that they will be at someone else’s house 😂

And that they will be at someone else’s house 😂 FYI you can usually fix battery operated things that had corroded batteries in them by scraping out the bigger chunks of crud and cleaning the rest of the residue with a Q-Tip dipped in white vinegar. Let the vinegar dry completely, put fresh batteries in the thing and odds are good that it will work again. I’ve fixed dozens of kid’s toys, flashlights and other things that way! I would much rather take a few minutes to fix something that I can still use, possibly donate or sell vs. putting it in the trash.

I’m a fix and donate girl myself but this was a $2 torch with 20 years of corrosion and rust all over it. No one was going to buy it or take it for free from the markets in its condition 😁 Thanks for the tip though as I will use this method on the head lamp that I am definitely keeping for at least the next 20 years even if it is just stored in the backyard shed 😅

If any of them are Nickel Cadmium (NiCad or Ni-Cd) you would not use vinegar or lemon juice to clean them. The instructions for both cleaning methods is here - How to Clean Battery Corrosion

Got the decluttering energy back, ran with it. Tossed: A dollar tree filled junk bag that I bought from the neighbor girl because she was going door to door fundraising. It was $3 and worth it just not to make bad blood. But gosh, couldn't toss it fast enough.
A tiny baby food food processor. I got my money's worth out of it, but have a regular food processor now (and no babies).
Two opened cookie icings from Christmas. Gone.
A Ziploc bag full of Chinese food condiments. Why did I keep it originally though?
A make up bag, with 20+ make up items. Gone, bag and all. I haven't worn make up in 3 years. I hate wearing make up. None of it was expensive make up. If I really, really, really ever want to wear some again, I think I should get fresh stuff, for health safety sake if nothing else.
A stained kid's snow suit, three sizes too small. We haven't gotten big amounts of snow in awhile.
A suit that I haven't worn in 13 years! !!! Yeah, gone.
A huge bag of kids books. 30+ books. I let the guilt go one that one. I can't donate everything. And even when you donate, so many things are tossed by thrift stores anyway. I still have more to deal with, but those, at least, are decided on.
I also went through the livingroom junk drawer. It's mostly cat toys, brushes, etc. And a few misplaced odds and ends. I tossed broken feathers, an annoying bell sounding toy, a couple cards that weren't even addressed to specific people, just signed. These were from 3 years ago. Were just vessels for handing over cash. Gone.
I'm going back in the basement to see what else I can do.

I finished a book last night, and it is in the donation pile. I've read 5 books this year, only plan to keep 1 so far. Pulled another pair of jeans out to donate. It joined another (clean) pair in the laundry room. One pair was so big, I can fit both arms on either side of me and still have room! I found this book Easier-Than-Ever Scrapbooking Treasury www.ebay.com/itm/355323277186?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=-5B6kWuOTx-&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=r_OGc4QoQ8G&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY and I'm flipping through it. I've gone through 122 pages, and have only ripped out 6 pages to keep. I'll add it to the donate pile when I'm done. Edited to add: I kept 28 pages from a 288 page book. If I cut them down and paste the ideas I want to keep on copy paper, that number should go down, since many of the ideas I liked were 2 page layouts on 2 pages that would easily fit onto one 8.5x11 sheet of paper.

Made more progress. Asked the kids about 15 huge preschooler toys. Think Imaginext Batman castle sized things (and some bigger!) They're fine with them all going. Went through the giftbag/bows/tissue paper/ holiday card bin. Took out party decorations that I haven't used in years, so I know I'm not going to suddenly reach for them now. Condensed the reusable grocery bag of Christmas bows and cards into just that single bin.
Cleared out the cabinet over the fridge. Last time I did it, I left quite a bit, just in case those items were asked about. Think promotional water bottles, old candy molds used once, etc. It's been over a year and no one has ever opened that cabinet. Gone, the lot of it.
Took the shower gel & lotion out of the big giftbox it came in. Recycled box. Toiletries are in the bathroom for next to use.
I feel like I really made a dent. There are things that I need to ask other people about still before a final decision can be made, but I'm feeling like a huge amount of headway has been made.

My mom and stepdad were here this weekend. I gave my mom another bag of beauty products to bring to my sisters in law next weekend since they liked the stuff I gave them at Christmas. I have been focused on choosing paint colors and flooring, which has been too mentally consuming. I started to move stuff out of the rooms that are being painted and am excited to get back to de-cluttering when it's done. The way one of the rooms looks right now is a little emptier than it was, and I think I will keep it that way, even though that means getting rid of some things I thought I still wanted.
