So Photoplay has new baby lines. The name of the lines?
Boy - To the Moon and Back (it has astronauts) Girl - Sweet Little Princess
Seriously? Why do baby lines have to be so gender focused? Babies look and act the same when they are little. Honestly, if you dressed them all up in the same colors you wouldn't be able to tell them apart. Why do we care about what is in their diapers?
I know we've been over this before but it just keeps happening.
And when they do make a gender neutral line it is brown. They can't think of other colors beside brown? What baby photos go with brown?

seems to me it's in part due to the gender divide on baby STUFF...last time I tried to buy gender neutral baby clothes for a shower...it was slim pickings much as it seems to be in the scrap world.
I'm with you - babies can wear any colour and mine did (many years ago). My two favourite baby items that were first my son's then worn by both daughters were a peach fleece onesie and a red/white/blue Paddington babygro.

Even worse than the colors are the stereotypes. Girls want to go to the moon. Boys want to cook and play with dolls. Sheesh.

I have been purchasing a few neutral baby lines. Thankfully the baby's momma also dislikes pink and the neutral colors do go well with most of her outfits. Once in a while she'll wear something more pinky-girly when the rest of the clothes are dirty.
I wish they'd put a bit more masculine line on one side of the paper and more feminine on the other and then make the colors/embellishments match both and let people decide what they wanted for the layout. However, I do love that they make more masculine lines because there are just way too many very frilly lines out there and people do need choices.

I wish companies would have a softer color pallet for one line and a more bold color pallet for a second line. Not boy vs girl.
Same designs, same embellishments and let the buyer decide what colors they want.
Have boy and girls in trucks or as astronauts or playing in dirt or cooking/baking or whatever else.
It really isn't that hard. Yet they draw that line every single release.

What baby photos go with brown? “Here’s a photo a day of the contents of baby peas nappies” - that would match those colour tones, complete the 365 photo challenge and is what the colours in those collections remind me of which is why I don’t want to use them… even though I hate pink and baby blue! Sorry peas I had to say it… My dd for one looked absolutely adorable in teal and aqua as it matched her eyes beautifully- trying to buy outfits and match to scrapbooking lines was a definite extreme exercise!

Photoplay also made a gendered college line last year I bought some of this. I have a son and decided that the “girl” sticker sheet had more of what he enjoys. He’s not into sports or video games etc.

See links & discussion of Photoplay - December release HERE. Only the creative director(s) at the manufacturers can answer your questions. Unfortunately, they must not read &/or heed the free customer feedback posted here that could result in increased sales. It seems there are several solutions to offer both stereotypical & non-gendered options so users could mix/match pattern papers/embellishments/sentiments.

Photoplay also made a gendered college line last year As the parent of a current college student, I am dubious that they included all the genders one finds at a college these days....

The colors weren’t really gendered, but some of the icons/stickers were. I bought both for my nephew. The colors were the same on both lines, just the items were different. My nephew isn't a stereotypical boy type so I found things on both sticker sheets that I liked. I don't remember the paper being really gender specific but it has been awhile since I scrapped with it so my memory might not be good. I need to get it out and use it again- I really liked it, the color palette was nice, and there aren't a lot of college lines out there. The thing that gets me about baby lines is not as much the colors as the message it sends. There is a big difference between an astronaut and a princess. Some lines use words like "brave" to describe boys and "pretty" to describe girls. It is annoying.
