If you could paint your entire house a neutral color right now, would you choose a pale gray or white or neither?
I have the same question for flooring. Would you choose carpet for bedrooms or hardwood/LVP throughout?

I would have to think on paint color, but do know it would not be gray of any shade. That color has been overdone in my opinion. I'm still old fashion though and like to stick with the egg shell tupe whites as you can change drapes, decor etc without having to paint each time you want a change.
As far as flooring, I think it depends on where you live. I can't imaginge stepping down out of bed and my feet hitting an ice cold floor. I about have heart failure sitting on a cold toilet seat in the midddle of the night. I live where it gets cold and do keep the heat down a bit at night, so I could not live without my carpet.
Have a nephew that has a flooring business. He's all for carpet. If you don't sweep the carpet one week, you can probably get away with it, but without carpet, all the traffic and dust shows, so you really need to sweep/mop floors often and even more so if you have pets.

We have revere pewter in a lot of our main areas and I still like it. But we are painting a few other rooms and can’t decide. I like the look of white (like Sherwin Williams alabaster) with other neutral colored accents (I think the influencers call it “organic”) but wonder how good it looks iRL and in a house that isn’t brand new. But Dh hates white walls anyway so that probably won’t be happening.
Havrillahome and apieceofmyhaven are two accounts I like.

I would choose a white, but there are a million whites lol. I'd lean to a slightly soft white, not a bright white or an ivory, with as neutral of an undertone as possible. I'd like to have the flexibility of choosing warm or cool tones in spaces without having them fight with the undertone of the white.
I'd definitely do hard surface flooring in all public spaces and bathrooms. I'm torn on bedrooms. From a comfort level, carpet is nice in bedrooms and since they're relatively low-traffic, they are easier to keep clean. But still... we have two long-haired cats and a double-coated dog, so that's a lot of hair on carpets, even if you vacuum every day. So practically, I'm more likely to go with hard surface everywhere and use area rugs as needed, with plusher ones in the bedrooms.

I think the overall consensus on carpet vs. hard flooring in bedrooms is 50/50!

Would you choose carpet for bedrooms or hardwood/LVP throughout? A neutral white. I’m done with gray. Hardwood for bedrooms and then area rugs (likely an elevated indoor/outdoor because our animals love to vomit etc on carpet.

White walls - and hardwood floors everywhere.

A brighter white, with NO yellow undertones. No gray, ever.
Wood floors.

Gray is on its way out and looks dated now. Greige and more nature colors are whats trending -- greens and blues.
I would do hardwood and no LVP. If carpet was in my home, I would immediately pull it up.

I went with having all of the carpeting pulled in this house and having the hardwood floors refinished. I love it. I did put area rugs in the bedrooms for warmth and to absorb the echos. I have always loved the look of wood floors and since the carpeting on this house was a wool Berber, I had no choice but to pull it immediately because I am highly allergic to wool.
I will eventually be painting every room in the house as well. The previous owner went with pale Easterish colors of pink, green, yellow, and blue in the rooms and I cannot exist in a yellow bedroom. The main areas are an off white but need refreshing, just not as urgently as the Easter rooms.
My plan is to go with a warm-toned white throughout and I will probably create a colored accent wall in each bedroom with either an earthy color pulled from the wood floors or an accent color to go with a throw on the beds. I might wallpaper that one accent wall too.

If you could paint your entire house a neutral color right now, would you choose a pale gray or white or neither? I have the same question for flooring. Would you choose carpet for bedrooms or hardwood/LVP throughout? White interior with wallpaper in strategic spots, and a medium toned hardwood floor throughout. If you want warmth on the floor add rugs where needed. I like the look of white (like Sherwin Williams alabaster) with other neutral colored accents (I think the influencers call it “organic”) but wonder how good it looks iRL and in a house that isn’t brand new. But Dh hates white walls anyway so that probably won’t be happening. SW Alabaster White is what most of my interior is painted and we love it. It's a clean white but with a warmness to it, not a bright, brilliant white. Easy to live with and goes with all colors.

If I absolutely had to choose only one paint color and it absolutely had to be a neutral, I'd go with a cream or a warm beige. It would definitely be a warm color. I would be sad about that in the kitchen & laundry, which are rooms where I'd rather have white than cream or beige, but I definitely would want warm colors in the other public rooms and the bedrooms, so I'd have to give up the white in the kitchen & laundry. When it comes to colors in clothing, gray has been one of my faves for many, many years--decades, really, but my goodness I would pick anything else for a house right now because my gosh, every single updated house for sale in my area is either all gray or white & gray. And I'm so over it after seeing it everywhere for years, now. (in all fairness, that's how I am with most trends.) I really, really wouldn't want to have one wall color throughout my house if I could avoid it, though. Flooring is easy--hardwood throughout, hands down, no question. I know people worry about animals with wood floors, but my house has had so many animals in it over the years---countless dogs & cats, and even a skunk! And the hardwood floors survived them all. We all chose rugs we loved for our bedrooms, and that solves the cold-floor-on-your-feet-in-the-morning-problem without having to resort to carpeting.

I think white and grey are overdone now (even though my home is grey and I find it calming and I love it). But when we had the basement finished last year, I chose a neutral greige. I did go with a slightly grey tinted white in the kitchen and bathroom, with LVP floors everywhere except black tile in the bath.
The upstairs bedrooms all have carpet and I prefer that in the bedroom, but in a basement I would never do carpet in case of any leaks or flooding so we did the LVP

We painted our house interior white (SW Snowbound) when we moved in 7 years ago, and while I still really like it, I might lean toward a slightly warmer white if I was choosing it now.
100% hardwood, with rugs for softness. I was persuaded to do carpet in a few areas as a compromise with DH, but I wish I’d stuck to my guns. I overhead my husband telling my BIL over the weekend that he actually regretted the carpet, so I expect we’ll be replacing it at some point.
Never would I ever put in LVP.
ETA: If you want to be at the forefront of the next trend, Dark Academia is what I think is really going to hit hard. It takes some guts, though, to go that bold.

No carpet ever!
My entire home and back covered porch is 20” square tiles. LOVE THEM!
Paint- Kelly Moore Navajo White with a lighter or darker trim. I think we did Kelly Moore Swiss Coffee with it.
