What is the longest you've waited in a line for something? Would you get in line at 2AM to buy something from a store that opened at 9AM? I don't know if this counts, but we've slept on the sidewalk for the Rose Parade before. Fun to do once, but not fun enough to do it again. Even when the boys were young, I never stood in a long line to buy them a popular toy or item. I don't even like waiting 1-2 hours to be seated for dinner at a restaurant. So, other than the Rose Parade, and a line at Disneyland, I would say 2 hours would be the longest I've ever waited in a line, and it was for dinner.

I waited about 40 min in a black Friday line once to get an item for my mom my dad asked me to get as he had to work.
Then of course an hour to 1.5 hours at Disneyland. That was during Grad Nite. I never went in line if more than an hour. I would circle back around later, especially during parades or lunch.
I think we waited about 40 min to get in to parking at San Diego Chargers vs KC Chiefs game once. We arrived later than we wanted and there was a line.

So, other than the Rose Parade, and a line at Disneyland, I would say 2 hours would be the longest I've ever waited in a line, and it was for dinner. Half an hour, maybe a bit more, and that would have been accidental. I suppose I've waited a half hour or so to be seated at a restaurant here & there, but it was never intentional. Like I didn't set out to try to get into a restaurant on a very busy day or for any kind of promotion or special event. But I don't think I've ever waited an hour. I'd guess 45 minutes would be my cut-off point. A few times I accidentally arrived early at a store, but it wasn't for any purpose. It just happened. It was a few minutes and I stayed in my car until the place opened. Even places like Disney I have never done the wait at the gate type thing. I try to arrive just as they open, or just after. And if a ride line is over 45 minutes, I don't get in it.

Several times back in the days before online registrations I slept on the verandah of the Kennedy Center in order to get free tickets to the Messiah sing-along at Christmas. We arrived by noon-ish the previous day, laid out our sleeping bags and other supplies, then hunkered down to wait. People used to bring tents, chairs, etc. and have little parties while they waited. The security guards were a lot of fun also. lol. Everyone was fun. We would start mini sing-alongs, or have alto vs. soprano competitions, etc. The doors opened at some point the next morning when we could get our tickets.

I guess I am not a line person. I think I've maybe waited an hour before a store opened to get something. It was an Xbox. I did get it. I won Christmas that year. My kid was ten and he was waffling on Santa that year. He told me Santa was real because I was way too cheap to get one (and actually find one).

We waited for a couple hours when a Lego Store opened- they only let in a certain number of people at a time. And whatever wait times there were when he went to Disney. Generally my time is worth more than anything Id be waiting for

For Disneyland’s 50th anniversary we got in line at 4AM. We were one of those people sleeping on the ground in DCA.

15 hours or so? When the White House Easter Egg Hunt opened to the public, we waited in line overnight for tickets. The second year, they came along and gave out numbers the first night but you still had to stay in line. It snowed that year and dh woke up to a blanket of snow over him. I can’t remember if we did a third year or not, but I imagine that it was the same. Other than staying out all night, it was a pretty good crowd and was well patrolled.

1980 something. Concert tickets. 6-7-8 hours? Can't remember the exact time frames, but it was >> get in line in the wee hours and spend half or whole the day in line. Those were the good old days....line neighbors, a boom box, everyone singing along to whatever song was playing on the radio, walking to 7-11 for >> big gulps, snacks and the bathroom. Lottery tickets....3-4 hours, a couple-few times over the years.

I don’t remember the concert.

Over 2 hrs to get on a ride at Universal on NYE. I would never do that again.
I will not wait longer than 30 min for a table at a restaurant and even that is pushing it.
I will not wait on line for hours to buy something or get tickets.
I don't know how anyone can sleep on a sidewalk--I could never relax enough to sleep with strangers around, out in public, unless I drugged myself and even then it's doubtful. I can barely sleep at home! Tent camping also requires Ambien but at least there I'm not in line surrounded by other people.

My daughter and I probably waited in line three hours total to see a Yayoi Kusama art exhibit in DC. We probably waited 90 minutes to get our timed pass and then when we came back we probably had to wait another 90 minutes. It was nice that it was split up.

2 1/2 hours at Disneyland for my then 5 year old Frozen obsessed daughter to meet Anna and Elsa. I stood in line while DD and DH rode rides in Fantasyland. It was worth every freaking second when I watched her meet them. ❤️ She was right in the thick of all things princess and was a full on believer.

basket1lady...OMG! Your DH woke up to SNOW falling ! ? ! Was he at least in a lawn chair, or was he (the crowd) on the ground? Did everyone have heavy coats, blankets, etc? I can't even imagine sleeping through SNOW! P.S. I'm always amazed that homeless people survive sleeping outside in the winter, too.

I’ve never come across anything that was worth waiting hours in line for, or even sleeping overnight. Just not my jam.

I’m Gen X! Waiting overnight for concert tickets was almost as much fun as going to the concert! Those were the days when you could actually get front row tickets (I had row 3 for Duran Duran and row 9 for Micheal Jackson).

Years ago we went to Disneyland during Winter break. BAD idea. We rode 5 rides and we were there from open til almost close.
Now I wouldn't stand in any long lines. Life's to short to ride the line ride. I don't even get in line if there are more than 3 people at the checkout.

If we are talking waiting to buy something? I waited two hours I think? For the Nintendo Classic that had 30 retro games on it….I was 13th in line and they got 9 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
If we are talking theme park lines - Disney - we’ve waited up to 45 minutes I think was the longest….

I don't know if this counts, but we've slept on the sidewalk for the Rose Parade before. My parents did that for the Rose Parade when my mom was pregnant with me in 1948. So I guess I can kind of say I have been to the Rose Parade.
