I’m having some work done to my house and am buying new furniture for my living room which is where my scrapbooks are displayed. I had Kallax type cubes but gave them to my daughter (they weren’t big enough). I’m now trying to find bookcases or another storage solution and the only thing I can find that will hold 12 x 12 scrapbooks are Kallax.
What do you all use? I’m not opposed to Kallax but wanted to see if there are other options.

I'm no help. I use Kallax. I love those shelves- I own 6 2x4 ones. I'm going to buy some bigger ones for my downstairs scrap room.
I've never found anything else that was the right size.

I feel like only the Kallax design are going to be able to handle to weight of the scrapbooks without sagging. Your other option is custom built-ins. They aren't always that much more expensive than buying good shelving units.

They aren't always that much more expensive than buying good shelving units. And they can be adapted to the size and shape of the space you want to put them in. If you have a kitchen cabinet place near you, I would suggest giving them a call to see what they could offer.

There's a better homes and gardens shelving at Walmart. I have a 2x4 and store my scrapbooks on it. I have to buy another though.

I use the Better Homes and Gardens cube units. I prefer solid black(BHG) instead of black-brown(expedit/kallax).
I have 2x3 cube units that lay horizontal, side by side....a long row of 2 (high) x 6 (wide). With another row of two behind it. The first row >> I have my scrapbooks on the bottom row. The upper row holds miscellaneous stuff. The second row (behind the first row) doesn't have anything in the cubes. My storage bins sit on the top of all the cubes, they hold 13 x 13 plastic envelopes filled with paper, stickers, embellishments sit on the top.
It's: 2x3 2x3 = 2x6 2x3 2x3 = 2x6 All of it is in a longer sliding door closet.

Thanks for your input. I was already thinking I’d end up with Kallax. I have purchased the BHG ones from Walmart as well.
I have time to make a decision since the floors won’t be done until January 22. I’m shopping for a couch as well.

I have three of the 2x4 Expedits (not sure you can buy them anymore) and one 2x4 Kallax in the brown/black color. I have them set up vertically along a wall with about six inches of space between them.
I've seen them set up horizontally, and think they would be great as a window seat or a TV stand in a living room. You'll have to show us what you do with them!

I use ladder shelves. I just make sure to measure the distance between the shelves. I've used them for about 15 years. Still sturdy.

I have a 4 cube system from Target. I chose this because I can use the flat top to hold my die cut machines, extra alcohol markers and DSLR camera bag. Target 4 Cube Organizer Brightroom

I use an IKEA bookshelf I bought years ago. It’s sturdy and the shelves are adjustable. They don’t make this same one any more but there are other similar ones.

I have had two PB Studio Bookshlef Ladders (in now-discontinued black finish) in my craft room for ~15 years & highly recommend them for storing supplies. While I don't use them to house scrapbooks, IMHO the lower shelves would work well for that purpose. Hope you find the ideal solution for your space.

Sorry you couldn’t find one. If I bought another shelf I’d go with the Kallax. I use one for my supplies including my paper.

DH and I were laughing about this post today, as we counted 13 Kallax units in our house. We have them in the downstairs LR, main floor LR, bedrooms and of course the scrap room.
I like them as they are customizable, with drawers, doors, shelf or shelves, legs and so many different colors and sizes.
I also switch out the hardware on the doors and drawers. It’s a little thing but makes them yours.

I ordered a 5 x 5 Kallax with 5 doors. I think I’ll be happy with all of the storage it will provide. I have a 4 x 4 and a 2 x 4 in my bedroom for scrapbooking storage and do love them.

We have a 4 by 4 and a 4 by 2 Kallax that we store our board games on. I'm glad we did not get the 5 by 5! It would be massive, and there's only a few places in our house it would fit. Kallas is very sturdy and my scrapbooks would fit on it if we decide to repurpose and put the games on something else.
My scrapbooks are actually on these four cubes I bought on clearance at Target once upon a time. I was trying to use them to make a desk, but it didn't end up working out. I can fit 5 AC D-ring scrapbooks per cube (4 cubes tall, I attached them together myself.) I am going to run out of room this year though, and since I bought them on clearance in 2006, the chances of getting more are not very good... maybe something meant to store records? Records are 12 by 12.

I remember seeing years ago that Paige Evans used a glass cabinet from IKEA to store her scrapbooks that was a really pretty option. The name of the cabinet is FABRIKOR. It looks like the cabinet has changed since then to be a "double unit" (she had one that was half the size - chopped in half vertically).

I use a Kallax - I have a 4x4 unit with a 1x4 unit secured & stacked on top of it and it gives me 20 cubes to use. Best thing I ever bought for my craft room.
