I have the 12x12 Iris plastic storage cases that fit into the spaces in a wheeled cart. I would like to remove the lids so I can reach into the cases when I pull them out without having to open the lids. I can't for the life of me figure out how to detach the hinged lid that snaps onto the bottom. I had taken them off in the past, but I can't get them off.
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong

If I recall, if you gently push the lid “more open”, the lid will unclip from the hinge.

I had no idea that the lids are removable. Is this true with all Iris cases? (Making sure before I break mine!)

If I recall, if you gently push the lid “more open”, the lid will unclip from the hinge. Thanks! Your suggestion worked. I put the case on the edge of the table and forced the lid down (not so gently). I thought I was going to break it, but it finally gave and snapped off. The cases had been in storage for the past year as part of my move, so they might have been tighter than normal.

I found out the lids will snap off by accident. I was sorting some paper into 2 piles using the bin and the lid when the Iris case was open. I went to lift the case to move it and the weight of paper on the lid hyper-flexed the lid and the lid came off. At first I thought the plastic hinge broke off, but then I saw where the hinge “hooks” must have flexed enough to disconnect, but not break.
