Is Kevin Costner nervous? Shy? Indifferent? Drunk? Over it, full of himself. Call it what you will. Congrats to the winners, but I'm a little sad that Ted Lasso & cast got no love. I'd also like to have seen some hardware for Lessons in Chemistry and All the Light We Cannot See. So glad Oppenheimer beat Killers of the Flower Moon. Hated that bloated mess. Hope it prevails at the Oscars. Two observations, the host was beyond awful and what did he do to his teeth? Da'Vine needs to fire her stylist. We saw a bit too much of her golden globes. It's a shame because her performance was probably wonderful to beat out so many great actresses, but all people will remember is her unfortunate dress. If she robbed a bank, nobody could describe her face.

I was worried we’d see some nipples on d’vine. Surprised ryan gosling did not win for Barbie Love Ali Wong, but have not seen Beef Us too. I don't think who ever made her dress did a very good job fitting it to her. It was a lovely dress but had some serious issues in the fit.

I don't know the guy that was on the beginning doing the monologue but he was terrible. Awkward and uncomfortable. We turned it off after a few moments. He was awful. He didn't get any better either.

The host was horrible. His jokes about Barbie and Taylor Swift at the beginning were so off putting considering the year both had.
Taylors movie not winning shouldn't be shocking. While it was huge for what it was, Barbie did over $600M domestically and almost $1.5B worldwide. Taylors movie made around $250M worldwide. The category was Box Office achievement. Oppenheimer only did half of the Barbie numbers.
I was disappointed that Ted Lasso didn't get any love. But, the Emmy's are still coming on January 15th so hopefully they'll get it there.
I hadn't even heard of The Bear or Beef, but I might take a look.
Glad that Billie Eilish won. Love that song.

I love The Bear (it is about a chef who comes back to Chicago to run his dead brother's family restaurant). I would NOT call it a comedy at all tho!
I havent seen Poor Things, but I'm blue that Barbie didn't win many of these awards, I think it is an important movie.

It's a little sketchy that they were just allowed to declare their show a comedy, but I guess anything that helps the the show continue is good. Glad Barbie got something, but as always women don't get taken seriously. It's easy to write off a pink, cartoony movie without thinking too hard about the message. I thought it was brilliant.

I also don't think it is a comedy. I started Beef. Just couldn't get into it.

I think there needs to be a category for dramedy. Barry and The Bear are both in comedy. Neither was a comedy.

I’m so out of who’s who in movies that I have no idea who half these folks are. Out of everything, the only thing I have seen is the Barbie movie, Ted Lasso (but not the last season) and some of The Crown I have about 100% quit watching any TV, and there is never anything worth paying to see at the movies. A friend talked me into the Barbie movie and I enjoyed it. Mostly went for the popcorn and a Dr. Pepper. Jo Koy was the MC - I haven't heard a good thing about it. I heard that he accepted the job 10 weeks ago, because no one else would do it. Says a lot about the state of things, doesn't it. I have watched some of his standup, and once you see a little of it, it's the same joke spun a little different. He used to date Chelsea Handler.

I watched and agree that Jo Koy was awful. His Barbie joke about big boobs just really took away from the whole movie. What an embarrassment.

I was also confused about The Bear - love that show, but no way it’s a comedy, even a black comedy. I had to google it and read a bunch of articles that all basically said the creators entered it as a comedy as a tactic because they knew they had a better chance of winning that category. I guess it worked 🤷🏻♀️ I also thought Succession *was* a black comedy. I only watched half of the first half season and just couldn’t watch anymore, but I didn’t think it was supposed to be a serious drama.

We watched just until Jared Leto and Angela Bassett came out and we thought everything seemed very amateurish! I missed the opening 20 minutes or so of the live show. However, since I live on the west coast, they replayed the entire show again at 8PM. I watched the rebroadcast just to catch the opening, and yes Jo Koy was terrible. I have watched some of his stuff on YouTube, and it is not bad. But he was not good at the Golden Globe. And, he kept playing with his teeth. I don't know if he got temporary veneers on them, or had other work done recently, but it was distracting.

I guess it worked 🤷🏻♀️ - I mean, I guess if you want an award that bad, does it really mean as much if you have to enter it into a totally wrong category? Whatever... LOLI also thought Succession *was* a black comedy. I only watched half of the first half season and just couldn’t watch anymore, but I didn’t think it was supposed to be a serious drama. - I watched Succession. I had to google after every show to make sure I understood what the hell I just watched; I felt so dumb. It was fast paced and I felt I knew what was happening, but just wanted to make sure bc it wasn't really clear. I also had to do the same thing for the Diplomat with Kerri Russell! :facepalm

I don't know the guy that was on the beginning doing the monologue but he was terrible. Awkward and uncomfortable. We turned it off after a few moments. It's precisely this reason that we didn't watch (well, that and football). i had a feeling it might be very awkward and cringy. jokoy was the 5th person asked to host. he had less than 2 weeks to prepare and this was his first major hosting gig. i told my friend this was probably not going to turn out well and from what i've read, it did not. it was cringy just reading about it.

I never considered The Bear or Succession comedy although I would say that Succession leaned more toward that with Kieran Culkin's lines than The Bear.
I enjoyed Beef and was glad to see if take home some rewards. I would have liked for Only Murders in the Building and Ted Lasso to have come away with some as well.

Is anyone planning to watch anything that won or even was just nominated? I have Max for the next couple of months thanks to Black Friday so am watching The Last of Us and it keeps you on the edge of your seat and may try Succession. I need to go back through the list and see if anything else looks good. I tried to watch The Bear and couldn't get into it - same with Beef - this was several months ago and I may try again at some point or maybe not - I have heard good things about the Bear.

Is anyone planning to watch anything that won or even was just nominated? I will see The Boy and The Heron. I am a big Ghibli fan. And I am going to watch Barbie. I want to check out Beef and Bear, but I can't watch Bear because I don't have Hulu.
