I think my ATG is dying a slow death. The spring on the wheel that the used tape strip wraps around has to be squashed down when loading a new tape, and sometimes when I'm putting down a line of adhesive, the tape gets slacky and falls off the rollers... I think I bought mine at Michael's but looking online, they are not available to pick up, have shipped, buy in store, and are not sold in any store or are out of stock at any Michael's anywhere near me. I also don't see anything but refills on Amazon, Joann's, ACOT, or scrapbook.com but I haven't looked super hard. I'd kind of like to get the same size I already (the pink one) have since I just bought a year's supply of tape for it... Any ideas? UPDATE: I received my tape dispenser from Club Scrap. It came with a roll of 1/2-inch tape, and an adapter to make the tool work with 1/4-inch tape. I am currently just using the 1/2 inch tape that came with it, because the adapter requires using a screwdriver to switch out a part and I don't want to switch back and forth. Once the 1/2 inch tape is used up, I'll put the new parts on. The red ATG is just like the pink ATG except of course it's not pink, the part you push on to open the cover is in a slightly different spot, and everything is less round. The tape goes on almost the same, except the used tape reel doesn't have that cover you have to snap on, and the tape rolls counterclockwise. What is interesting is that it came with an adapter and a new smaller roller that can be installed to use smaller tape but the roller that was pre-installed (for wider tape), is the same size as the one that is on my old pink ATG... I always wondered why the roller was so wide, and why the tape wasn't in the middle. I guess they didn't adapt that part when they designed the 'scrapbooker' model of tape gun. I thought I'd update this thread in case anyone else's ATG dies, and you can't find the pink version. Happy taping stuff to stuff

If you don’t care that it’s not pink, the ATG 714 is essentially the same thing, only it’s red. I’ve been using it since before pink was an option. You can find these on Amazon. Brand new are pricey, but “like new” from Amazon Warehouse” is good. a.co/d/1bJUPn9

Also, there’s a 1/2” version as well (it’s yellow). I have this also but prefer to use skinnier tape so use the red one most often.

My original ATG is the red one, and my back up ATG is the pink one. They are completely identical other than colour - don't let anyone tell you otherwise! I am at the price of a new one on Amazon. Craziness! I must take better care of mine. The red one is held together by an elastic band as i've dropped it hard so many times the "lid" hinge is broken.

ClubScrap.com also sells the red ATG; I haven't looked lately at the price, but I don't remember it being astronomical.
Realized I had CS up in another tab. About $55 for the red one there.

I bought my red ATG from an online framing supply store. Maybe someplace like that would have better prices than Amazon?

All I know is that price has skyrocketed! Mine is 12 years old but I know I didn’t spend nearly that much. I think $25-30 and even that was a lot to me!

Thanks for the ideas, Peas. I went to the awful, scrapbook section is half of one side of an aisle Joann's near my house because online it said they had one in stock and someone either bought it in the 10 minutes it took me to drive there, or they never had one in the first place.
I will check out some of the leads on this thread, because I don't know how I'd scrap without an ATG.

You can always spray paint if you want a different color. Mine was red and I painted it lilac.

These atg prices are craziness! I have red one and bought a pink one at Michaels with a coupon many years go. I am going to have to make sure I treat them both like prized treasures.

Just a few thoughts. The wheel where the used tape winds onto had built up sticky gunk, so I cleaned mine off, and it does much better.
Are you stacking an empty ATG tape wheel on yop of your tape wheel? I have to do this, or else my tape does what you describe-gets loose and falls off, then I inevitably rip the roll trying to get it back on!
I didn't realize the price of ATGs had gotten so high!!

While I was debating on if there was anything else I wanted to put in my cart they asked if I wanted a 10% off coupon for giving them my email address, which helped a little with the cost

I wonder if they are no longer making the pink ones that were designed for crafters. A long while back at Joann’s, I found a pink one on clearance for 7 bucks. I almost didn’t get it because I thought I didn’t need to hoard another craft thing but then I told myself I would be spending that on the refills alone and the gun came with two as well. Now I’m really glad I went for it. Glad you found one.

I used a spray paint specifically for plastic and taped off the areas I didn’t want painted. Took a couple of coats, if I’m remembering correctly. It’s been quite a few years.

Scotch 3M ATG 700 gun (color is yellow) is $50.37 on Amazon. The gun holds 1/2" and 3/4" rolls. I have the pink one and have had it for years. I'm surprised, too, at the price. They also have the Scotch ATG 752 in, what looks like, dark blue. It, too, holds 1/2" and 3/4" wide tape. This model is $39.75.
Oops, late to the game. I just saw that you got one. Enjoy!

Glad you found one and also WHOA on the prices. I use a red one, but I used to have a pink one - now I am going to look for it to see if I have a ready back up.

My original red is still going strong after more than a decade of heavy use. I couldn't resist picking up every used one I ran across at our used craft store. Now I have 2 pinks and a yellow one. My cost was $4 each. Guess I lucked out big time!
