Does anyone else notice that it's harder to find examples of stamps and dies in use unless the item just came out? I feel like the pace of releases these days is so fast that there are very few examples shared in the months after the release - people have already moved on to the next thing.
I have the Simon Hurley candles stencil, which is admittedly hard to search for because it doesn't have a very unique name. But it's crazy to me because this set sold really well - it was constantly going out of stock - but I can't see much that people have made with it.
I've found some random candle cards on Pinterest. Instagram feels pretty difficult to search for specific things these days. I did a search on YT and found a couple of videos that might lead me to others, or maybe not.
Where do you look for inspo for specific products? Or are you fine with looking at more generic inspiration?

I just look at Pinterest or Google search. If I find a good design of some other card, I adapt it.

You are so correct. The new releases come out so fast and furious that there aren't that many samples or videos for products any longer. I do sometimes find it really frustrating when I lack inspo for a specific item. I use Pinterest, Instagram, and Youtube, but sometimes I can't find much. Especially if it's an older product.

… The new releases come out so fast and furious that there aren't that many samples or videos for products any longer. It’s true. There seems to be a constant stream of new products. Once a few samples and/or a video is made, then the big names go on to the next new stamps/dies or other product and do a few samples and video, in a never ending round of new products being promoted, and older ones quickly forgotten. The big name crafters are so busy creating videos that showcase new products all the time, they probably don’t have the time to go back and do additional samples of products they’ve already used.

I agree 100%. This also happens a lot on HSN. I'll buy crafting items on their crafting days; and then, by the time they come in the next week, the videos are gone. The items have sold out, so they remove the videos. It's hard to find them on YouTube also. I can't even find ideas on the manufacturers' websites. As the above Peas said, things move too quickly.

Frustrating. I found as soon as I buy a stencil, stamp or die set I take photos of the examples either from a video or stills. Otherwise, poof, gone.

I save videos on YouTube by creator and also by technique. That way if I forget who made that pop-up card I liked I can look in my folder labeled pop-ups. Sometimes the same video may be saved in two or three places.

I really need to organize my screenshots into folders, because I have a ton of them in my iPhotos app, going back years. There are some companies that remove the inspiration ideas from their blogs once the product is retired and that really annoys me because I think if I buy a product from someone I should be able to go back to the date in their blog from the release and see what what done with it. I can't remember who it was, though.

I totally agree. It seems like there is a new release every week! I know the companies need to sell fresh ideas, but I have a lot of products that I've already bought and want to use.
Anyway to answer your question, I use the snip tool in Windows (window key + shift + s) to take screen shots of ideas I like, then have them organized in a folder by theme. Or I do a Search for the stamp name and company, then click on Images so I only see card thumbnails.

I think one exception to always moving on to new products, minimal examples/videos is the Karen Burniston site. She releases new items less often, but she keeps the tutorials and samples available online, and over time, each pop up design ends up with a lot of additional examples. Her tutorials are very good and her design team offer additional fun and creative ways to use them. Pop up cards aren’t everyone’s thing, but she has unusual ones that she designs herself (she is a civil engineer). I’m sure they take a lot longer to design, which is probably why her new releases happen less often than some companies.
Another company that is sometimes an exception is Queen & Company. Their Facebook page encourages customers to post their projects, and while not all of them are unusual or creative, there are some that really are. They end up with a ton of examples, courtesy of their customers, and some are very cute and creative, even if they aren’t the big name/well known crafters.
I get frustrated by the companies that sell out so fast of whatever the latest and greatest is, and those of us who aren’t checking every day often don’t even have the option to buy. I recently got an email from Queen & Co. that an item I wanted had been restocked. (A light up mechanism for cards.) It took awhile for me to manage to get the original kit, and a few days after I bought the kit, I got an email that the light mechanism refills were in stock, but the email came through after I had checked my email. It was a day when I couldn’t check my email multiple times. By the next morning, when I checked my email, it was already out of stock again. I’m still waiting for it, but at least this company does give customers like me a chance to eventually get the new releases. I may have to wait awhile, but I’ll be able to get it at some point.
I get the feeling that some companies don’t want to ever have to offer products on sale, so they just discontinue new products relatively fast and move on to offering something new that will be in high demand then disappear. When companies do that on a regular basis, I stop shopping there.

Ugh, I hate when this happens! The only company I've had good luck finding examples of old stamps is Stampin' Up. The other manufacturers get rid of their older examples and it's so frustrating.

I also look at scrapbook dot com product pages to see if people have uploaded projects there. Often it's just the official samples and maybe a DT member video or two. Most of the products with a lot of customer examples are scrapbooky stuff. I guess cardmakers aren't so much in the habit of sharing there. It's never occurred to me to share photos there.
I didn't know that some companies actually pull down examples on their own webistes for retired products. That really stinks!

What about their FB pages or fan groups?

I will go to an IG page, in this case maybe Spellbinders, Ranger or Simon Hurley, and then find and select "Tagged" and you will get a feed of posts from random people showing their makes and tagging the companies and designers. Not really any way to search it, but I find that there are examples made with some older product, especially if you scroll down a little ways closer to when the product came out. This is a little more helpful that just the account feed where they are showcasing the newest releases. I do this on a desktop. Still have not found "tagged" option on the phone app.

I think that might be the trick I need to find stuff on IG. Searching for tags wasn't working for me at all. Of course people often tag the designer when they post but I couldn't think of how to see that after the fact I'll try it out on my devices and see. I think on the app there's a way to see it - iirc there are buttons for grid feed, reels, and then maybe one for "tagged in" posts on the person's profile, above their grid, but I'll have to take a closer look and see if they've changed that again... ETA: it's in the same spot on the desktop and iPad app versions! The app just has an @ type of symbol but it's the far right option just above the grid of photos. I've already found some cool ideas scrolling through SH's tagged posts

I have noticed the same thing. I watch YouTube at night and the tone of videos has also changed over the years. They used to be instructional and casual shares. Now they feel more like infomercials. All the product mention is over the top. I used to listen to recommendations but now I don’t trust they aren’t just pushing product.
Since I watch YouTube I just search for/by name if I can remember the set I’m looking for. I’m getting ready to make some cards with Honey Bee’s Cone Flower and luckily there are others, not just DT that have loaded videos.

Honey Bee also has a private group, if you're on the Facebook: www.facebook.com/groups/542458196136764I joined to see a live demo for a set that I wanted to use and take a look now and then at people's shares. I'm realizing with the set that I'm looking for that the generic name "candles" is only part of the problem. I don't know think the set has as many interesting variations as I imagined when I bought it, so very few people have shared their cards because they're all kind of the same.

I like Gina’s products but some if the people in her FB group Bummer on the name of your set, that does not help narrow it down!!

Another company that is sometimes an exception... Lawn Fawn is pretty good about this too. They have videos on their YT channel going back a long ways and keep most of their old sets in stock / supported. Same with Marianne Designs, though they don't have much in the way of official samples/tutorials. FOMO (fear of missing out) is a powerful motivator but eventually it jades and ruins your customer base by destroying all their trust in your company.
