New highrises in LA and SF are built to withstand a 9.0 earthquake and up to 100-mph winds. Hummm..... I really didn't know the heights.. September 2021, the average height of skyscrapers in New York City was approximately 738 feet (225 meters), according to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. However, this number can vary depending on the specific time period and criteria used to define a "skyscraper."Mar 8, 2023 *** The term skyscraper originally applied to buildings of 10 to 20 stories, but by the late 20th century the term was used to describe high-rise buildings of unusual height, generally greater than 40 or 50 stories.Jan 8, 2024

There is also a new amusement park breaking ground this year near Vinta, OK. Ever heard of Vinita? Probably not, unless you live in the vicinity. Supposedly a 2 billion dollar park to be the size of Magic Kingdom. There are no major airports anywhere close to this place. Current temp there this morning is 38º. There is supposed to be a large indoor water park, but those are just gross to me! I don't see anyway a place like that could make a go of it. From lack of airport to lack of employees. It's baffling.

I'm in OK a lot as my mom lives there. Seems kinda weird to have such a tall building built there. I feel like it will be kinda weird looking. Even a target from a terrorist point of view. Nothing to block it or anything. iowgirl have you seen the big park in Tulsa.. The Gathering Place.. that place is awesome! Not an amusement park, but a regular park on steroids. lol

LOL That was a fun favorite place to visit when I was a kid. Took my kids and it didn't seem quite as fabulous as I remembered it, but it was still very cool! I think I had assembled it together with other caves I have visited into something more fantastic in my imagination. Would still recommend a visit to it though!

As an Okie, I think it would be a huge waste of money. We have too many empty buildings in downtown OKC already. Even the 52 story Devon tower in downtown OKC is no longer filled with tenants, especially since Devon Energy had massive lay-offs.

This doesn’t make sense to me. Do people travel to see the tallest building in the country? I know I visit particularly tall buildings when I’m already in a city, but I’ve never even thought to travel to visit one. Especially if there’s not a lot else that makes me want to visit. There’s not a shortage of land in the state to expand, if that’s even needed which is doesn’t seem to be.
