I went back a year and didn’t see an air fryer rec thread so thought I’d ask. My husband bought a four-in-one air fryer a few years ago and it really was only useful as a small oven. I am looking to get an air fryer that is just an air fryer. You can either recommend yours, or you can tell me yours is gathering dust and not to bother. Full disclosure, my main motivation is that I have multiple kids obsessed with chicken wings, so feel free to tell me that chicken wings made in an air fryer are gross.

How does the bacon come out? I am not a cook and one of the few things I ever do is stick bacon in the oven. It takes a while and makes a mess.

OK. I turn it a few times but it seems fine. I don't eat it so can't comment fully. It's just occurred to me that maybe UK bacon differs from US? Frozen burgers were done last night and turned 3 or 4 times. The meat eaters have never made any complaints. I don't add/spritz anything with oil and it all seems to cook just fine.

There have been a few threads over the years with recommendations. I have two Cuisinart air fryer ovens, one at home and one at our cabin. We liked the first one so much that we got a second one for the lake because it cooks things so much faster than a conventional large oven. I like the Cuisinart because it has a wide, flat basket which is great for stuff like chicken wings, mozzarella sticks, fish sticks or filets, chicken nuggets, basically any of the Costco frozen convenience foods we buy. It will perfectly cook a whole frozen pizza from freezer to table in about 8 minutes. We used to have a basket style air fryer but it wasn’t too convenient for cooking anything in quantity. The flat basket style is so much better at cooking things through without so much flipping, shaking, etc. I usually flip things like fish filets or chicken nuggets once halfway through cooking so both sides are equally crispy.

400 degrees for 15 minutes. Put the bacon on parchment which you can then just pull up and throw away (I drain the grease into a jar, but that's optional) As for the air fryer we love it for fries, chicken tenders and I'm making rotisserie chicken in it tonight for dinner.

I got one a couple of months ago and now I just leave it on my counter because we use it so often. The best thing I bought for it are the parchment paper basket liners I got on Amazon. And another thing, the air fryer setting on the mini oven (like my Breville) are NOT the same. I got my cheapie air fryer from Costco for $39 on rebate.

So far I've only used it for junk food -- chicken wings, chicken nuggets, french fries, etc.... It works great. I bought parchment paper liners and a stainless-steel basket from Temu. (Temu is cheaper than Amazon for basically the same exact things.) ETA: I also air-fried cornish game hens. Turned out crispy.

Thanks -- I went back a year, as I said, and I guess I needed to go back two more weeks .

That is exactly the "air fryer" we have and it DOES NOT WORK .

Chicken wings come out good in the air fryer. Im not a lover of them, but I do have the double basket one in my basement that I keep threatening to unbox!

I have an Instant Pot Vortex - basket style. Looks like they have a newer style that looks like a toaster oven with trays. I love the basket one. I use it most days, if not every day.

I have a Cosori basket style and it works great. I have tried two larger basket style air fryers and neither one were as powerful as the Cosori. I've also tried my full size convection oven with a baking rack and cannot get results close to the crispiness of the Cosori. Chicken nuggets were okay but the fries were very disappointing compared to the air fryer.
However, wings are my least favorite thing to make because of the clean up lol.

I have the Instant Pot Vortex air fryer. I resisted for a long time because I'm not a fan of single purpose items and I love my Breville Smart Oven w/ air fry but... it's not the same as a dedicated air fryer. I love the darn thing and use it multiple times a week. It is far more flexible than I ever expected. It actually does a great job with chicken thighs, salmon fillets, etc. You want to be careful not to overcook but as long as you get the time right, the results will be very good and never dry (I assume the small, contained nature of the air fryer is why). Highly recommend these liners to make cleanup a breeze.

I hope you end up liking the air fryer. I also have a Cosori basket style and I use it almost every day. We cook a variety of foods from chicken (we’ve been on a chicken and steak skewer kick recently, making them several times a week) to carrots and other root vegetables, roasted peppers and onions, etc. One of our favorite ways to use it is for reheating leftovers like pizza or even Chinese or Thai food (using a liner). It keeps the food crisp but doesn’t overcook it because it only takes a couple of minutes.
