I have a lot of capillaries on my face and I have always been self conscious about it. I talked to my dermatologist and she said that there are laser treatments for it. She doesn’t do it but another dr that was in her office does. He travels around and does it about an hour away. He looked at me and said that I have a lot so it will probably take three treatments.
I’m just curious if anyone else has had this done and if they were happy with the results. Was it painful? Recovery time?

I have had my cheeks lasered a couple times. You will definitely feel a sting. And you swell up after for a few days. Unfortunately for me, mine came back on my cheeks. The stuff that was high on my cheeks under my eyes has never come back. I had mine done at a Med Spa.

He didn’t mention swelling but said you ice it which is probably why to help prevent swelling. So I assume from this I will have swelling. He said he numbs you first but good to know about pain. I have found drs lately tell you the bad stuff after it’s too late lol.

Yes, I have. I found it very uncomfortable, but bearable. It was also pricy and I was noticing recently that I have a lot of broken capillaries again on my chin and around my nose. So it worked, but the change wasn’t lasting. I believe that I had 4 treatments.

Is it only for the capillaries or also for the redness? I don’t have any broken capillaries but lots of redness.

I had it done about 2 years ago at my dermatologist. Mine was pretty bad, so I did require 2 treatments and so far it hasn't returned. It is uncomfortable, but not painful. Almost feels like a rubber band snapping against your face. I have zero regrets.

I haven't done it for my redness or broken capillaries. I just cover it all up with my MAC paintpot. Works great for me.

I have to redness and broken capillaries. I’m hoping it works for both. I don’t wear makeup as I haven’t been able to find one I like in years.

I’m about to have IPL for mine. Apparently I also have ocular rosacea and I’m having that treated and my ophthalmologist said she’d go ahead and do my cheeks while she’s there.
Who knew you could have rosacea in/around your eyes and it can contribute to severe dryness? Not me!

I also have wondered about this. I have broken capillaries and redness on my nose and starting to have broken capillaries on my cheeks as well. But my nose bothers me the most. I cover it with makeup but I also have a hard time getting that to stay on my nose, which is annoying. How much does the laser cost?

I’m looking at $850 per treatment. I’m really hoping it works as it’s bugged me for 20+ years and it’s been getting worse lately.

I have been doing laser treatments for rosacea for about four/five years. It was recommended by my dermatologist but she sent me to a different dermatologist for treatment. We had a consult and the second dermatologist was very clear that the laser treatments are not permanent. The first year I had four treatments. My doc also doesn’t usually do treatments in the summer because if you have any tan —well I can’t remember what happens, lol.
So I got two treatments early in the year and two additional treatments in the fall/winter. The treatments take time to work (4-6 weeks) and they can only do so much each treatment, so I look pictures for myself to see the progress. The doc also takes progression pics that we look at each visit. I started noticing a significant change after three sessions. I’m sure that varies.
After the first four sessions, I have been getting two a year, around six months apart. I only get my cheeks treated but lately I have also been getting an additional treatment that targets brown spots as well. Unrelated to the rosacea but I’m in my 50’s, so age spots!
It isn’t covered by insurance and I am treated by an MD. I live in the Midwest and pay $400 each treatment for my cheeks only. It’s not pleasant but it is bearable for me. At first, the downtime was more but since I go regularly and have been responding to treatments, it is less now. Maybe two days of minor swelling.
I am really sensitive about my rosacea and have been really happy with my results. But it’s not fast, cheap or permanent.

I got mine done about 7 years ago. My skin felt soft as a baby's bottom when I got it done. It was pricey, but did a really great job. Some of the redness has returned, but nowhere near what it was.

He said I had a lot and that might have been part of the high cost plus living in Southern California. I really hope it helps. If it helps with the capillaries and some of the redness I will be happy. Not thrilled I might need to repeat in the future but time will tell if I will keep doing it and if I can afford to do so.
