Hi everyone! It's a grey, windy and gloomy day here today ... I didn't sleep at all last night so a nap is definitely in my future ... sigh! I was emailed a bunch more forms from the school board that I have to fill out for my retirement ... it never ends! I still don't know anything about subbing ... I hope to hear soon! This is what I posted on Facebook today ... I can manage to put my fitted sheet on my bed with no problem because I use deep pocket sheets but the duvet covers are a PITA! Argh! I usually try to recruit a dd or friend to help! Do you struggle to change the bedding on your bed? Dinner tonight might be something pasta because I didn't make it last night ... How are you feeling today taylortroop? What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

I try to get Jeremy to put the sheets on. Lol! At the very least I make him help.
I've got tickets tonight to my hometown's symphony. It is a pops concert. They are doing the music of Fleetwood Mac. My friend Wendy and I will go out for Mexican food before the show.
Other than that I'm going to sit and read for a little bit.

We have a European style bed, so two single mattresses in a queen sized base. Makes it much easier as the sheets are smaller. DH also helps, as we tend to wash sheets first thing in the morning on a weekend day, and remake the beds just before we retire for the evening.
I am just home from First Reconciliation with my church kids. All went smoothly, we had three priest hearing confessions, not only the kids but most of the parents as well. The children also made the candles we are going to use on First Communion day - we set up and they work on them while the confessions are taking place.
DH has very kindly made dinner while I have been out. We are having pork fillet, which he put a rub on and will cook on the grill. Not sure what the sides will be, and I don’t really care, so long as I get fed.

Happy Saturday!
I'm feeling quite lazy this morning and have been playing Dreamlight Valley and finishing up some laundry. I may run errands and I may not. Just seeing how the morning goes.
Tonight, the youth group at church is having their big trivia party as a fundraiser. Our team is the Candy Crushers so I hope we do well. They're having a catered cajun-themed dinner so that should be fun.
Have a great day everyone!

I’m still feeling awful today but I’m sure it won’t last too long. The biggest issue is the headache. Thankfully I don’t have anything pressing on my schedule for the next few days. DH tested this morning and his was negative. So far I have not infected him.
Supper will be sausages for DH. For me, not sure what I will feel like eating yet.

Just started a 3.5 lb pot roast in my Ninja pot. I have no idea who I think I’m feeding all this meat to. I guess most will end up in the freezer.
Will also make mashed potatoes and some kind of veggies.
Hope everyone who’s been feeling crummy is doing better today.

I actually slept in this morning...if you consider 815 sleeping in!!!! Of course I was called in for a Trauma "stat" at 1130 pm....got the all clear around 1230 -1245...Sadly the patient isn't expected to survive...it was a suspected sucicide attempt. So I was actually up decompressing till around 3am The sun is shining here for the first time in weeks....however the wind is cold!!!
I have done a load of darks, some vacuuming , and changed out some holiday pillow covers that needed to be put away. I am currently making chocolate chip cookies for DH, as all the Christmas goodies are finally gone.
Dh does help with the fitted sheet, however he claims ignorance when it comes to squared corners on the top sheet, so I do those!!
taylor troop, hope you are resting and feeling somewhat better.
Have a Good afternoon😎😎😎
Oops!!! forgot dinner will be a grilled steak, baked potato and something green.

The headache for me was truly the worst. I just stayed hydrated, drank a little bit, extra caffeine, and loaded up on the Tylenol. Hope you feel better tomorrow

I have no idea what's for dinner tonight, possibly the salmon we started thawing yesterday but we didn't start thawing early enough so it was still frozen when we wanted to cook. We ended up having spaghetti. We'll probably do the salmon inside puff pastry with carrots, leeks, and dill. DS makes a fabulous lemon sauce that goes over it and it's one of our favorite things!
Tomorrow evening dinner will be chili at our church's chili fundraiser they have every year. We love it! All the various groups make a chili (or two) and people pay $5 for a spoon then go around and taste all the different chilis. Everyone "votes" (with $$) for their favorite chili (spoiler alert: the youth group almost always wins that one). However, there are also secret chili judges who go around and taste, then actually vote for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place chilis (for the "real" award - a wooden spoon painted gold, LOL). The judges also give out prizes for things like best presentation, best vegetarian chili, etc. People go way out with their presentations, plus "bribing" judges with other goodies to hand out at their tables. It's all in good fun and it's always held on the "empty" weekend between the playoffs and the Super Bowl. I am bringing cornbread (& probably beer) for the choir chili table - for our presentation we typically have a punny musical theme and sing a hymn tune with changed (hint: chili-related) wording. Looking forward to that. We've won the golden spoon multiple times and have some good chili-makers in our group. DS usually made chili back when he was in youth group. Both DDs participated in it for fun when they were in YG, but were not interested in making chili.
I am finally starting to feel better from my sinus infection and seem to have some energy again (yay!), so I'll go to Costco, catch up on laundry, and do some scrapbooking and card-making.

That chili event sounds like so much fun scrappinwithoutpeas! I love chili! I make really good chili but I have had to cut down on the amount of spice I put in it ... I can't eat spicy food the way I did when I was younger ... it's kind of a bummer! My chili has both kidney beans and black beans ... it must have beans! Tribe, do you prefer your chili with or without beans?

@leanne, beans, definitely beans!!! Honestly my favorite chili is Nalleys out of a can! 😂
I’ve been out of the loop this week. I had vertigo earlier in the week. Then we had a snowstorm. Then the temperature plummeted to almost -40. My dh and both sons were/are out of town. Luckily nothing happened where I would have needed help. I’ve been sewing, reading, and watching old movies.
Dinner tonight is roast with potatoes and carrots in the crockpot. I.might venture out in a bit to get a Starbucks. Currently it’s -23. I think I will wait until it warms up to -20!!! 😂😂

@leanne, beans, definitely beans!!! Honestly my favorite chili is Nalleys out of a can! 😂 There is a Nalley's turkey chili that I can't get here in Canada that I love! When I used to go to the lake every summer and we went to Walmart in Washington I would buy a flat of cans of that chili. Yum! We don't have anything like it here

I never liked chile and dh doesn't eat it, so I don't have an answer. We have a California split king, so putting on the sheets is easy peasy. It's just two XL twin mattresses.
The Birdhouse Lady , do you do the Epley Maneuver? My dh was taught it and it really helps when he has vertigo. You can Youtube it. taylortroop , I really would see if you can get Paxlovid. I hope that you feel much better quickly. christine58 is right on about the caffine. It helps the headache. I'm gonna complain. Dh and I went out for a nice coffee this am. As we were sitting, enjoying our chat, my healing completely reversed. I'm now home laying back in my recliner and very upset and frustrated. karenlou , can I please PM you w/a question? It's Saturday and I'm flummoxed. I'm so sorry about your patient. You're a human being and losing a patient or seeing your patients suffer must be so difficult. ((((HUGS))). Have a great time at the symphony tonight, jeremysgirl . Enjoy today, my tribe.

I might be talked into going to church (and I am Jewish) if there are events like a chili cook-off. scrappinwithoutpeasyes, I love chili and I’ll eat it pretty much any old way, although these days I usually make chili rice. scrapmaven, nooooo! I’m so sorry.

lucyg , it shouldn't be called Judaism. It should be called Foodaism. Let's face it, every single holiday revolves around food, even Yom Kippur. You fast all day and then have a feast. I think I've mentioned this before, but my mom had an exercise group w/some ladies from the temple. They'd switch houses each Monday. After the exercise they'd have pound cake or coffee cake and coffee, because you can't have ladies over and not serve them something.

My dr won’t prescribe the Covid medication unless you’re a senior and I’m not that age yet. In terms of drinking caffeine, I don’t drink coffee but have been chugging my Pepsi Zero. I just woke up from a nice nap so I’ll get something to eat and hunker down in the recliner again. DH is in the garage avoiding me.
DH loves chili but I don’t eat it. I do make it for him in the crockpot and it has loads of beans!

so I met my goal.. walked the dog at sunrise (8 am) and was up at the ski lodge to catch a bus at 8:50 to the big mountain. the skiing in that first 90 min was fab!!! so I took a few runs and the light was getting flat, the crowds were building and the snow developed more piles so I went in. I did ski a long run nonstop.. which I hadn't done for a long long time.
last night was scrambled eggs and sausage. tonight is salad and a salmon cake I bought at the grocery store yesterday. there is no parking at my condo complex.. everyone is in for the weekend so I will take the bus tonight and I'm going to a mountain film festival in town. last night I said something to a family that was parking in handicapped space to unload their car.. turns out it is the owners of the condo above me. I still think they were wrong to do that.. you should double park before taking that slot. even for "a few minutes".. he is a doctor.. maybe a bit entitled. dh wasn't happy I said anything.. but cmon.. everyone should know that law. oh well..as I walked around the complex this morning I saw another car that was parked.. not even in a legal space.

ntsf, I'm an anal retentive parking placard holder. I would have asked them to move, explaining that I needed the space. If they were gonna be a couple minutes and I wasn't in a hurry or blocking traffic I would wait. However, those spaces truly are for those of us who need them. When I'm feeling better and my walking is stable I park in regular spaces. However, when I need a blue space I need it. We have a Starbucks w/2 disabled spots that are next to an EV spot. EV cars will park in the disabled spot adjacent to the EV spot if it's taken. That just fries my bacon. It's so damn selfish and wrong. I'm not upset w/you. Doctor or not, no one was disabled and they can walk!!!!!

My dh has the handicapped placard.. so I am parked in a regular space. if he had been here and needed parking I would have said.. please move now. but I made my point. and then as I walked away.. they were commenting on how I must be an owner and do I take care of my dog properly .. or something.. (only owners can have dogs and yes, I am very consistent in picking up after my dog)..
placard holders shouldn't have to deal with anyone not qualified taking their spots. just as they shouldn't have to justify their placard to the public.

scrapmaven, dang it!! I hate that your healing has to start over again. Ugh!!!😑 Yes, I did the Epley maneuver to myself. I believe that’s what helped me get over it quickly this time. The first time I had vertigo it lasted 10 days. That really stunk.

The Birdhouse Lady, dh's physical therapist taught him the Epley and he swears by it. I'm sorry that you have to deal w/this. Vertigo is a nightmare.
