Dd is an educator at Sea World Orlando. She's working in the Antarctica exhibit today - if you've never been there, it's really awesome. It replaced the old Penguin Encounter about a year ago - it's a huge open air penguin habitat, and there is no glass between visitors and the penguins (except for the glass front of the aquarium). When you walk in, you can hear (and smell!) the penguins, and it's about 30 degrees, and the lighting is set for the season (it's Winter right now, so not a lot of light). Anyway, this is a picture Sea World posted on FB this morning from the exhibit ![](http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j95/Caroltingley/seaworldfourthofjuly_zpsbe9f1280.jpg)

So cute! My daughter is seven and obsessed with penguins. She has big plans to either work at sea world in their exhibit or and or Baltimore zoo that has a large African penguin breeding colony.
Thanks for sharing the Penguins Fourth of July!

What a great exhibit! My only complaint about the one in San Diego is there is often too much condensation on the glass to see the penguins, this one must be awesome to visit, provided you are not sensitive to smells!

There was a show on one of the Discovery or Nat Geo channels not too long ago about that whole big redo. It was really interesting. If I recall correctly, they had a penguin or two that kept managing to get out of bounds on the new exhibit and all sorts of interesting issues cropped up.
Cool photo, thanks for sharing!

If I recall correctly, they had a penguin or two that kept managing to get out of bounds on the new exhibit and all sorts of interesting issues cropped up. Dd tells me that every once in a while, a penguin will pop up out of the enclosure into the "human" area - they have an SOP to follow when that happens, lol. She hasn't had that happen to her yet, but some of her friends have. Evidently, these penguins are very social and interested in people. When they close the exhibit for the night, there are nets that they put in place to keep them from making a break for it when no one's looking, lol. She loves her job - she spends about 45% of her days in the penguin exhibit/Antarctica, 45% of her days in the sea turtle/manatee exhibit, and the other 10% rotating between the other animal attractions in the park. She's only been working there for a few months, and has gotten to see and do some really awesome things (including watching the birth of a sea lion!).

Wow! Sounds like a very fun and interesting job you DD has. I can't see the flag on my tablet but will look when I am on the computer. I will have to have DS take a picture for me. He is working there also this summer. He's headed back home in a month.
