Hey there. I'm a voracious reader of this forum for some time now, but haven't posted anything. So this makes me a One Post Wonder I guess.
I don't feel that President Biden has significant mental decline. I mean, the man is old, but he has a good grasp on reality.
I started a new position a couple of years ago at my job. Was promoted and was learning new tasks, a lot more responsibility. And I thought I was getting dementia or early onset Alzheimer's. I still have lapses in memory. Just now I couldn't remember the word "responsibility". Now, my job is definitely not as important as being President, and being a President has loads more responsibilities. I can give the man a break! He's doing an excellent job in my opinion. Plus he has great staff behind him if he lags. I can forgive him not remembering things, even important events such as his son passing away. I couldn't even remember the year when the towers fell. I did eventually, but for awhile I thought that tragic event happened in 2011! I remember when my mom passed away, but not my dad. She passed more recently.
I had read somewhere that when you are learning new things, or trying to do too many things around the same time, our brain becomes overloaded and shuffles things to the back to make room for the new things. I don't know if that is true or not, but it sort of makes sense. Every time I had to learn something new, I felt stupid because names/dates/etc. escaped me. After I become comfortable with the new tasks, I start remembering things again. This time around though...this new position is really tough for me. But I'm getting there.
I wish President Biden could take time off and relax. But it's too important for him to leave now. Him leaving now would ensure a trump presidency and that simply cannot happen.
Anyway, that's my 2 cents. Happy to be here and finally join in!
