That seems like a ridiculous and not lowkey way to assault someone. I mean, if someone were to stick me with a needle, I would feel it and probably cry out. Injection Spiking Article"How easy is needle spiking? Prof Adam Winstock from the Global Drugs Survey says it would be difficult to inject someone with drugs in a night out situation."

I think what angers me is that the public discourse, even from women, always centers around what women should do to avoid dangerous situations and mitigate risk. We don’t even bother to talk about what men should do. I was just reading about a campus rape where the school Suggested women not be out after dark. The correct response would’ve been to say men can’t be out after dark alone until the rapist is caught. That way, the campus police can just stop and question any man, since being out after dark is just asking for it. Feel offended that men would all be judged and limited for the actions of one person? Why don’t you feel offended when women are limited and restricted? That would be great if the tables got flipped. Let the guys know what it feels like!

Man, I had some great times at frat parties and hanging out at the house when I was at San Jose State! The guys all looked out for me and made sure I was safe. ❤️. Would I want my DD going to frat parties with guys she didn’t know? Heck no! Make friends with them and they’ll be like your big brother. So if you knew that a frat had a bad rap, you would still go to a party at that frat house? I think you can be discerning about where you choose to go. I didn't say don't go to any frat parties. If a frat has been reported for drugging girls, I wouldn't go to the party. I wouldn't blame the girls if something happened. I would blame the frat. But I don't knowingly put myself into situations where I might be in danger. You are 100% correct. Avoid the bad rep houses, just like you should avoid bad rep guys.

It’s certainly not a myth. It’s been a “thing” in UK for several years now unfortunately. In 2022 there were over 1300 incidents of it reported to the police in a 6 month period. That doesn’t include those who felt too embarrassed/ashamed to report it.

One thing I’ve learned about rape culture in the US is that what sounds like victim blaming is sometimes an unconscious attempt to offer women some sense of control and protection. If she wore a short skirt, she wasn’t asking for it but she was inviting that kind of attention and I would never do that so I’m safer. And I don’t put myself in dangerous situations so I’m smarter, I won’t be a victim. But it adds to the general discourse that blames anyone and anything except the rapist. I have never been raped. It’s not because I make better choices or am smarter or more moral. It’s because a rapist hasn’t raped me. Period.
When my daughter was learning to drive, she asked what to do if she got in an accident and felt unsafe getting out to talk to the other driver and my very progressive husband was like don’t be silly. Because he can’t imagine being in danger in that situation and he knows it’s not all men 🙄. Men get to set the discussion on women’s safety and that’s why colleges give out tips to girls to travel together and watch your drink. They need to give out tips to men: don’t spike drinks don’t rape girls. And then the men who rape need to face consequences, not like Brock turner who had two witnesses to his crime and still the judge and his dad were like hey ten minutes of fun shouldn’t impact his whole life. Fine if it impacts hers, if he got her pregnant now in the wrong state she’d be forced to have that impact her her whole life. Becuase we don’t value women or their potential the way we value men. And it’s gross. And we need to do better. And stop saying women should limit their activities and their access to the public sphere and start saying men need to do better
