I know it depends on page size and how much stuff you stick to a page... but how many pages do you think you would need to make, to notice a dent in the scrappy stash? I'm asking because while I've been scrapping like crazy, it seems like my stuff is multiplying, not decreasing. I was trying to tweak a few things in my corner, and now I have piles everywhere that don't fit in my available space. I can fit all my knitting stuff in one tote, but my scrapping stuff seems to need an entire zipcode

LOL...I'll let you know when I hit it. Honestly, I'm tracking how much in vs. out and I am trying very hard to use more than I buy. I tend to buy in multiples. I think what is striking me is just how much I can stretch my supplies. A piece of paper can go quite far--and then I have my big scraps that I am housing. I can make quite a few pages without feeling like I am making a dent.

I did nearly 650 pages last year (almost all 8.5x11, the rest 8x8) plus cards...no noticable dent really in anything except white cardstock and adhesive.

For me personally, I don't think there is a simple answer for your question.
Disclaimer: I am always actively looking at scrapbook products in every store (online or in a building) that carries them. I would never ever not add to my scrapbook product supply. Even with the pandemic and money was really tight, I had gift cards to make a purchase. In addition to staple products and popular lines (more than one release).....scrapbook product releases are seasonal....meaning buy it when I see it or I risk missing out on it. Therefore, always actively looking and if finances permit >>buying.
My answer to your question would be: I am about ten-ish years behind (meaning I have ten-ish years worth of photographs to scrapbook). I am okay with being behind and go with the theory of >> it will get done, when it gets done. If I use my currant stash sparingly, then I could probably complete ten years worth of scrapbooks.
I am a theme based and chronological (by year - January to December) scrapbooker. I have 40+ themes. I use 13 x 13 envelopes to hold my product. Some themes have a lot of products(two or three envelopes), some have a little. Mostly because of that themes product availability. I have a lot of "going out" products >> night out--day out--entertainment products (bbq, concert, dinner with friends, hanging out, festivals, cocktails, dancing, bar, soiree, lunch out, dessert out, etc...). I would likely never run out. I have very little class reunion related products, but can make do with stuff from my "going out" envelope. I have a lot of ocean--seaside, birthday, cat, Christmas, etc... products, because there are multiple collections every season.
For me personally, adding to my product stash and using my product stash.....ebb and flows based on my productivity (or lack thereof).

I don't have a massive stash, especially not compared to some of the rooms shared here or in other corners of the internet, so I can usually see a difference after events like sketchtember, so around 30 layouts. It's not a large dent, but it's enough that I can see some of my storage has slightly more breathing room in it. Realistically though I'm sure I could make a hundred pages and not feel like I was running out of options in either paper or embellishments.

Maybe 500 or 1,000 pages? Problem is that it seems like I’m also always adding just with the monthly subs and how I’ve majorly cut down how much I buy. At the same time I have been scrapping for 25 years now and pretty much have 5-6 albums going at all times (5 kids, family yearly album, school album, vacation album, DD) so I guess my supply matches my need? Also I tend to stock up on oriented things as I have alll boys and as we know the trend is more flowers and pink than their interests.

I probably did over 150 scrapbook pages and over 200 cards in 2023 and I don't notice a dent at all!
I use tons of pattern paper on my layouts but I still seem to have an unending supply....LOL!

I’m definitely on a spending freeze this year! I have seen a slight dent in some of my coloured cardstock but nothing noticeable in pp. too much has come through the door in 20+ years. Maybe if I did 500 pages?

Honestly? Hundreds if not thousands of pages. My stash is huge (much to the annoyance of my husband!) and I think I could page a page a week for years and never see a dent in my stash.

You guys have too much stuff! I am sitting on that bench with you though. . I go through tape faster than I'd like, but I have 30 or 32 Kallax cubes of paper and more than 400 premade pages of layouts. It's all good.

The only thing I “need” to keep purchasing is adhesive. I have enough paper to open my own store. I’ve been collecting for over 20 years, and have had periods of years where I was too busy to make very many pages. But I’m so glad I bought my favorites in bulk, as many of them are no longer available and I can still match pages I’ve already done or have just the paper I want.

This is the thing. I can take a piece of 12x12 paper and use it on so many layouts. I made a kit with like 6 pieces of paper last month and used 4 entirely and made 5 projects. I’m just not good at using it up.
So my answer is that my stash will live on a long long life beyond me. 🤣 or maybe I will befriend someone who loves to use paper and layer and they will help me through it.

As long as I can get new adhesive I could scrapbook the rest of my life and still have stuff left over. Thousands of pages. It is ridiculous but I love my stuff.

Like most above I could scrap for quite awhile (a thousand pages?) before I would notice a dent except for adhesive. I do try to be much more choosy about buying new papers but always find something that I want to try, like the Distress Inks and stencils.

Well, if I stopped adding to my stash, I might eventually see a dent, but I’ve been buying faster than I’ve been using.
It hasn’t helped that I have taken advantage of the Heartfelt Creations Warehouse/Going Out of Business sales. They’ll be gone very, very soon. Nothing throws restraint out the window as quickly as knowing that one of my favorite companies is about to close their doors forever.

So I looked at my February purchases (1st-16th) and my February layouts (27 all 8.5x11, some single and some double)
I added 32 sheets of cardstock, 8 pattern paper sheets, a project pad (14 PP and 8 cardstock plus stickers), a 6x12 sticker sheet, and a die cut embellishment pack...oh and a pack of photo squares TO my stash.
I've used about 37 pattern paper sheets, 26 cardstock, 11 enamel dots, 3 brads, 1 sticker sheet plus 14 stickers and I've pulled out my stamps and stamped exactly TWO. I did use a bunch of scraps but I also added more scraps so...not sure if there was progress there.
I have a net gain of 14 cardstock and 9 PP (and I've gained more stickers and die cuts than I've used as well).
I'm going to avoid buying anything for the rest of the month in hopes that I can use at least enough to bring me to even for the month and hopefully manage to dip into stash.
That was a rather enlightening look back (at least for me) - and it certainly helps explain why my stash continues to expand even as I make a lot of pages.

I don’t think I’ll ever see a dent. No matter how much I use it seems to regenerate. That absolutely cannot be because I bought more paper. Right?

Well, if I could get DH to go one one of the vacations we've been talking about, 1 would take care of 2 shelves of one of my Sterilite drawers, and the other would wipe out the packing box that the materials came in (yes, I know, I bought the paper before the trip -- but I could not resist!). One trip is a 2 week road trip that starts in Memphis and finishes at home (we'd fly to Memphis and get a rental car), the other is a train trip to New England for our anniversary. I'm hoping one of them happens this year. I desperately want to go on a trip that's longer than one day with him. The last time we went somewhere for more than a day or one night overnight trip was in 2017 when we went to Chicago. I'd probably bet that New England happens first, though, since 2 weeks requires much more planning. Even our Chicago trip was only 4 days/3 nights.

Not sure where home is for you, but long haul train trips are THE BEST!!! Highly highly highly recommend!!! (To be fair, I'm also a big road trip person, so either one sounds amazing to me!)

gb2015 The train trip we're looking at is about 4 hours on Acela, or just under 5 on non-Acela; the road trip would start with about a 2 1/2 hour flight. And DH isn't a fan of flying. One day we'll get there.

absolutely endless. Could scrap until the end of my life and beyond without purchasing a thing. Thousands! I am sure this is me too other than adhesive and white/black cardstock! If I am wanting to see progress on usage, I try to focus on a particular set of supplies, like a kit or a collection and try to use those up. I am curious how people think about using reusable items like stamps. How do you "measure" good usage.

It's easily a 40+ hour train ride (we're in the DC area)... I love him, but I don't know if I could be on a train that long. We've also talked about perhaps flying to Atlanta, which would be a slightly shorter flight than Memphis.
