The internet is not helping. I thought this new system went into effect this year but some sites say it’s not actually in. Does anyone know if I need an ETIAS application to travel to Spain from the US next month?

We are flying into Barcelona, and will then go briefly to Madrid and then down to Malaga. After that we are taking a ferry from Terifa across to Tangiers just for a day trip. Where will you be? |

Where will you be? oh fun! I was in Malaga last year - I really loved it. Next month I’ll be in San Sebastián. But in August I’ll be back near Malaga - about 30 minutes from there on the coast. We are thinking of day trip to Morocco so I would love to hear a trip report when you are back |

We’re booked for Spain later this year too and were planning a day trip to Morocco until a family wedding in Tuscany was planned.

I'm so jealous! That was our favorite of all the cities we visited in Spain. My plan is to move to San Sebastián for 3 months to perfect my Spanish. I loved the city. The night life and eateries were so good! If you are looking to perfect your Spanish, San Sebastian is probably not the best place. While most people speak Spanish, the most common language you hear from locals is Basque, which is VERY different from standard Spanish. |
