Which manufacturer makes the best embellishments?
I thought about this when I was online shopping yesterday. I absolutely love 49 & Market embellishments- I'm addicted to the film strips but I also love their laser cuts (no white borders!), their layering pieces, frames, and chipboard words. I buy them even when I don't buy the paper line because they are so versatile.
I almost never buy Echo Park die cuts because they basically use the same shapes every single package, they are very rectangular, and they are so word heavy. I like die cuts because they break up the rectangular shape of the paper, and Echo Park die cuts just add more rectangles.
I miss back in the day when there seemed to be a lot more different kinds of embellishments. I don't understand some of them from the past (bottle caps?) but I did like the variety available.

I like 49 and Market filmstrips and die cuts, and Pinkfresh chipboard flair (no rust issues like the old kind of flair, and not as bulky.) I like Simple Stories journaling bits, and their brads (even though they aren't really brads because they don't have prongs.) I like twine...
I don't like Echo Park embellishments because they repeat the same stupid old phrases on the cut-aparts, sticker sheet, both die cut packs, and the stamps, and it's usually the same words they used on last year's line.
I like washi, and that I can get it in themes and colors that scrapbook companies don't make, I buy a lot of it on Etsy...

I usually buy embellishments to go with the papers I buy. Sometimes I’ll get phrases or titles. I know what you mean though, artbabe. There don’t seem to be many trends right now. I remember bottle caps as well as mini clothespins, colored staples, raffia, flair, etc. I’m sure some manufacturer will come up with something because $$.

I like variety in materials/texture, so appreciate the AE + SC products (pleather, vellum, rubber, felt, acetate). Would really love more thinner, dark chocolate wood veneer options (only purchased from felicity jane so far).

I think Hip Kit has great embellishments. I like the variety of sizes.

I agree with the 49 and market. Love their embellishments. Love the frames, ephemera packs and laser cuts. I buy them from pretty much every collection.

Another thought provoker artbabe. I agree with the laser cuts fr 49 & Market; they're in a class by themselves. Also, I have purchased a coupla packs of CV floral embellishments and do like those. Mostly I guess I don't buy too many of the matching emb. from lines. A few companies package their emb. in several different categories and it all adds up to so many $$$. From years ago I remember buying a few pkgs. of vellum emb. that were so pretty (leaves, florals, vintage). I think the company was DMD; don't know what happened to that co.

Overall, I really love 49 & Market embellishments. They have a good variety of textures (chipboard, acetate, laser cuts) and I like that I can pick and choose between a number of different packs to get what I will use most. I too purchase these even when I don't always buy the paper.
I like the floral packs that some companies have been doing as well. Both AC and Cocoa Vanilla seem to have these. American Crafts has also come a long way with embellishments. Vicki Boutin collections get a great selection of embellishments.
When I was in my earlier days of scrapbooking I don't know if I just didn't buy the embellishments, or if there were less available (at my LSS or generally) and I try to pick up embellishments that are versatile enough to use with my old stash. I find that it can be really hard to use some of my older papers when I don't have embellishments to go with them.

Cocoa Vanilla has great embellishment packs. And back to say that I also like Vicky Boutin's diecuts and puffy stickers, Paige Evans' and Maggie Holmes' vellum pieces, and Doodlepops for a variety in thickness and texture.

I love Simple Stories brads, 49th & Markets film strips and rub-ons, PinkFresh's frames and my own flair. I have a button machine, so I make my own custom pieces as needed to match collections.

I think 49 and Market by far have the best options. So many cute pieces, but they are pretty specific with their aesthetic. Their colors and options within those colors are just so versatile. I bought some of the new Wherever line and for just the paper and one pack of embellishments it was $30. I bought it at my LSS because I love to support her, but sheesh, for paper? I think Simple Stories with their different page kits and embellishment cluster packs also have great options. I will buy an embellishment pack if I plan on doing multiple layouts with a line. If I am just getting paper for one specific layout, I'll try to see if there is a cut apart sheet or a journaling card paper to make embellishments.
Good question. We all scrap so differently that I do like to hear what other people think or do that I haven't tried.

I don't like Echo Park embellishments because they repeat the same stupid old phrases on the cut-aparts, sticker sheet, both die cut packs, and the stamps, and it's usually the same words they used on last year's line. Exactly! I almost never buy Echo Park and Carta Bella die cuts because they are all the same. The sticker sheet is exactly the same as the chipboard. I don't know why they do that- if I buy one I don't buy the other. If they were different I might buy both. I like Doodlebug die cut packs. They are $10, which is crazy expensive but there are so many pieces in the package. I love that- so many options and so many layouts. I like 49 & Market ephemera packs for the same reason- a huge amount of product in the package. A lot of other companies have slightly cheaper embellishment packs but have a fraction of the number of pieces. I kind of like that Simple Stories and American Crafts are starting to package their floral ephemera, word ephemera, and other die cuts separately. I'm so over all of the words and sometimes I don't like the icons but I want matching embellishments. It is nice to just buy a floral pack. Doodlebug also packages their word ephemera separately so I can avoid it.

PinkFresh makes great embellishments. I also love Elle’s Studio, especially their puffy stars!

I have so many embellishments! Currently, I’m keen on Vicki Boutin as they are different from my others. I bought every color of 49 & Market film strips.
