During this past weekend's Pinkfresh Create & Connect, a couple of instructors reverted to taping down panels for ink-blending in order to blend two identical ones, moving the stencil back and forth. I personally used my Altenew sticky mat and moved the panels on and off. But I sure was wishing for a sticky mat or grip mat large enough for TWO A2 panels.
As if they were reading my mind, Altenew announced their new 12x9 Ultra Sticky Mat! It will officially drop on Monday, but is currently available in their app only. Free shipping with no code today and tomorrow.
Yes, mine is already on the way....

where are you going to store this? So big and I fear that if it isn't in my misti it's going to collect a lot of dust. Tell me why I'm wrong!

I have a Poppin desktop organizer link that lives in my craftinet with all my ink blending tools in it. That back section has my current current 7.5 inch square Altenew mat (stored between its carrier sheets in its cello sleeve), plus masking paper, the waffle flower stencil extender, stuff like that. I'm pretty the big one will fit in there in the same state.

My ink-blending organizer can be seen on the right side of my desk here It is 12.5" wides, so that large mat should fit fine.

It arrived yesterday. Fits in my organizer as long as I remove the cardstock insert from the sleeve. Takes up my entire glass mat, but I think I’m ok with that. If I ever have a dedicated craft space, as opposed to my current home office/craft room combo, I can get a bigger glass mat.

I almost got this, but decided to wait a little bit. I need to organize my craftroom and see where I can keep it. I was watching a video where the person used a TE quad stencil and I thought this would be perfect for that.

I was thinking the same thing about the TE quad stencils, but I wondered if it would really work. When you put the stencil on top of the paper there is a very small border of stencil that sticks out past the paper. I wonder if that would be enough to hold the stencil in place. (Hope that made sense!) Since that would be the only reason I'd buy this, I'm going to hold off for now.

It's so handy, it even fit 12x12 paper in the back so I can put any new collection I get in there. I love that Altenew came out with a huge mat, I will definitely put that on my wish list. I'd like to be able to have multiple card stock pieces on it to make more than one of a card front, the paper can stay stuck while I move the stencils back and forth.

Mine is not super sticky so I tack a couple edges of the stencils down with washi and it has worked great for me.

On a vaguely related note, during their retreat today, Altenew announced the upcoming Stampwheel 2.0: the base will be 9x9 (increased from the current 7.5 square) and, more importantly, I think, one side of the base frame will be removable to allow for longer paper to be used in the base (with one end hanging outside).

A good example of why as crafters we shouldn’t be so quick to jump on new tools because they always come out with a new and improved edition. My dad always said never buy the first model year of a new car, wait until the following year because by then they’ve worked out the bugs and added features they missed the first time around.

I haven’t used a stamp wheel yet. As a card maker only, how will a 9” size benefit people like me?

Yeah, those butterflies barely fit in my GISTI.
A limitation that’s been noted of the original stampwheel is that you can’t put an open flat A2 card in it to stamp the inside. A standard-size MISTI/knock off can only if it’s side fold. My Stamparatus can handle either because it has two open sides. The larger stampwheel will take side fold easily and top fold with the one side removed. Not to mention larger card sizes, like 5x7, when they’re opened flat.

That's a good improvement for the Stamp Wheel. I do like the size of the original one, it's been working really well for me, so I won't buy the larger one. I have the MISTI, as well, so if I stamp the inside of a card I just use that. I don't make many top folding cards, I find they just don't stand up well on a shelf - they slide open. I really dislike them because of that, so for that reason alone I don't need a larger MISTI or stamp wheel. The PF stamps are a pain, though, but so far I've managed to find workarounds.
Edited to add: Considering that the size of the tall PF stamps is unique to them, as well as a pain to stamp with in a stamping tool, you'd think it would be a priority for PF to come up with a tool that works with them.

I have the original Stampwheel too, and really like it. If I want to stamp the inside of a card, I just fold it open and then tape the inside so it lays flat.
However, I haven't figured out how to use it for rubber stamps with the foam on the back. They are too thick unless you take the sticky mat out.

I really like the way my Stamp Wheel works and I'm in total agreement with this comment, down to folding my cards. However, I'm finding myself with more and more rubber stamps from Taylored Expressions and have to go back to my Tim Holtz stamp tool.

Take the sticky mat out and adhere your paper to the platform with temporary tape runner. I was doing that instead of magnets on my Stamparatus using their non-fuzzy mat before I got a sticky mat for it and it's what I mostly did during Stamp Joy.

All that said, I also will not getting the new stampwheel. I have the Stamparatus, with the same 7.5" square platform, but two open sides so it can take larger papers; a MISTI knock-off, which can take half sheets/open cards; and the original stampwheel.
I admit I haven't tried the adhesive trick on the stampwheel yet. And my GISTI has a Waffle Flower grip mat in it, which I find much harder to take out and put back in than the Altenew sticky mats I have in the other two, so I avoid using rubber stamps in it.

Yeah, I try not to jump on (expensive) things that might still have a lot of room for improvement. I don't think making the StampWheel even bigger and more awkward to store will sell me on one. I already have platforms that work for what I need. I'm still on the fence about all the sticky mats too. I'll wait and see... I took so long to get a Waffle Flower stencil mat that it arrived right as everyone was jumping on the sticky mats. I have extra ScanNCut mats that I got cheap that I cut up to use in my platforms.

Well, they can't do ANYTHING with any part of it that resembles hinges, or SourFlower will come after them with her lawyers. Unless they work with her to develop one, which will be seriously overpriced. I made myself one that's the perfect size - had my son 3-d print the base and added some inexpensive hinges and acrylic sheet for a lid. Back in the day, I made one from a picture frame, but I wasn't motivated enough to find a suitable frame this time.

I mostly use the Stampwheel mostly for layering projects. I have both TH stamp platforms and usually use the smaller one.
The current Stampwheel is $99. So I’m wondering how much higher the if the price will be for new larger one. I’m guessing $199. Thar would be way over my price limit. I got the current one on Black Friday at about 30% off.

Speaking of the Stampwheel it’s on sale right now for $79. I just saw that tonight and not sure how long the sale is.

Good idea for the longer stamps. Fortunately I have the original TH platform and those stamps can be placed on it diagonally.
I’m surprised the smelly flower woman hasn’t marketed a platform that would fit slimline stamps. Maybe she’s waiting for 10 or so patents and to get the lawsuit paperwork ready.

There's really nothing much to building them; back in the day there were quite a few instruction videos posted by people outside the US, where the patent isn't valid. There was even an Australian woman who built one out of lego-type bricks, using their hinges
