Good morning. This morning I have a video conference. Then I need to tidy up a bit, because my mom friends are coming to visit this afternoon. We haven't seen eachother in a few months and I'm so excited. Though I value my alone time, I am also social and my friends mean the world to me. Can't wait. Dinner will either be pork loin and crash hot potatoes w/broccoli something or takeout for dh. What's on your menu? What are you up to today?
Wishing everyone a happy, fulfilling day!

Have fun with your mom friends scrapmaven ! I need to clean up my craft room so I can start pre-making layouts for my April crop. It is going to be beautiful today with the rain coming tomorrow. Dinner might be Spaghetti and Meatballs. This isn't DH at all but I thought the meme was funny.

You enjoy visiting with your friends today scrapmaven. You deserve a little girl time. Jeremy found a truck. He's going back today to complete the sale. They needed insurance stuff worked out and all that jazz. It's an older truck, but it was a a good price. I'm so glad because I was really afraid he was going to commit us to something that was way out of our financial league. It is a GMC Sierra 2500. So a nice, big truck to pull the camper. And it has running boards!!!! Yay! Shorties can get in easily. I'm not sure what is for dinner. I've got enough chicken left over to make one of us a quesadilla. I might have to venture into the basement and take a look inside our freezer to see if there's anything edible down there. Yikes!

After our summer day yesterday, winter has returned. We will have a couple days of cold and then it is supposed to warm up again. We had an awful thunderstorm last night. Walker was frazzled and didn’t know what to do. The storm passed after an hour and he settled down again.
I got my haircut this morning, vacuumed and did a load of laundry. DH is having coffee with a buddy so I’m chilling in the lazy boy.
Supper is lasagna and garlic bread.

I was fast asleep but Jeremy made sure to tell me Ellie was also spooked by it. So I was the only one sleeping. LOL!

That's a very true meme cadoodlebug . Plus, if he loses something it's my fault. "Honey, I don't wear your slippers". jeremysgirl , congrats to Jeremy on his new truck. My hubby doesn't have a huge truck, but sometimes I need a running start to get in. Yesterday at the doc the nurse was taking my blood pressure and she asked me to put my feet flat on the ground. Uh, I can't. I want to be 5'5" and then the world would be perfect. LOL. That's why I had a son who's 6'1".
On another note, jeremysgirl, how did your cats react to the weather? My cats go apecat, especially my Russian Blue. You had a productive morning taylortroop . Are you reading a particular book?

I’m planning to make New Mexican rice and beans tonight, assuming I get home early enough from the 14yo’s badminton game to do some cooking. Nothing else of any interest to say, but I thought for once I’d try posting *before* everyone else goes to bed.

Another slow day here.
I woke to a message from older DS to DH and I, asking one of us to call as soon as we were awake (sent around 2:45am our time). DH saw it before me - because he wakes up at the crack of dawn - called, then left me a message to say our DDiL is in hospital. I messaged DS once I was up to find out more - she has suspected viral hepatitis, and has been admitted to a ward (when DS messaged, they were still in ER). It seems at this stage like they are going to manage her symptoms until the virus goes away. DS didn't have much more info than that. Please send good thoughts and prayers into the ether for her.
So I've done laundry, walked to the grocery store, doing the recycling on the way there, and have dinner planned. DH is coming back from Sweden tonight, but won't be home until after 9, so I am still on my own. There were chicken thighs in the freezer, so they will become Thai red chicken curry. I'll add some vegetables and make some rice as well.

Happy Wednesday! I've been up since 6 am. Did you know that the sun isn't up then? I sure didn't because I never wake up that early! Made it downtown for jury duty and was fortunate to be in the group dismissed at 10:30. Was bummed to find out they changed the exemption age from 70 to 75 though. Was so looking forward to that in 3 years. Good news is that for the first time they offered parking validation for a specific garage. That saved me $20. They have also switched to pre-paid debit cards instead of mailing checks for jury duty pay. Now to decide what to spend my windfall of $6 on! The weather dropped 10 degrees while I was in the courthouse. I'm now in my sweats and don't plan to leave the house again. There will be a nap or long rest this afternoon, followed by some sewing. Dinner might be a pizza that is in the freezer. This feels like pizza weather. Hope everyone has a good day! especially my Russian Blue. We had a Russian Blue when I was in high school/college and he was amazing - acted more like a dog than a cat. As a kitten he had enormous ears and later grew into them. He was 20 lbs. New Mexican rice and beans tonight, What is New Mexican rice? Curious how this differs from Louisiana rice & beans? Please send good thoughts and prayers into the ether for her. Will be keeping your DDIL and your family in my prayers. Hope she is back home soon.

Our thunder was so loud. One crack of thunder woke me up from a sleep and made me jump our of my skin. One dog got scared too and whined a bit then settled down. No affect from the thunder from any of the animals unless it is really loud thunder and that is more of barking at it then anything. No plans for dinner tonight yet. I did not sleep well so not feeling like cooking. May just do take out tonight. sueg - sending prayers

I have been out to do a couple of amazon returns at the UPS store...while in the area I went into TJ's to get milk and an avocado, and a couple of oranges for DH. I was supposed to work today, however decided I really didn't want to...so I didn't!!
Dinner is sausages with sautéed peppers and onions...along with a salad.

sueg: wishing your DDIL an easy and quick recovery. **GypsyGirl**: my MIL was from New Mexico, from a family that had been there since long before the gringos arrived. So this is her Mexican/Southwestern-style rice, which I distinguish from restaurant-style Mexican rice by calling it New Mexican rice. Plus refried beans. All of it drowning in melted cheese. Every so often I need to wallow in it. Don't need no stinkin’ meat, just rice and beans.

I might be taking a nap in a little while because I'm feeling tired now after waking up at 2am. I did 2 loads of laundry and dusted. Everything else can wait for another day.
For dinner we are having a salad with grilled chicken thighs.

Happy Wednesday!
I'm just finishing up some optimizations at work before the end of the month. I'm liking have one extra day to get stuff done.
Dinner tonight will likely be salmon and couscous unless I can talk someone into going out to dinner. I haven't really left the house for a few days other than errands so I'm feeling the need to socialize a bit.
Hope everyone has a good day!

Nothing else of any interest to say, but I thought for once I’d try posting *before* everyone else goes to bed. This made me LOL! I love to chat, but usually by the time I'm doing dinner like 6pmEST I'm done with the Internet. On the flip side, none of you guys are awake to talk to me at 5am! What's up with that? I messaged DS once I was up to find out more - she has suspected viral hepatitis, and has been admitted to a ward (when DS messaged, they were still in ER). It seems at this stage like they are going to manage her symptoms until the virus goes away. DS didn't have much more info than that. Please send good thoughts and prayers into the ether for her. I am sorry to hear this. Let us know when you know more. I've been up since 6 am. Did you know that the sun isn't up then? No, by golly. I'm up at 5 am every single day, and damn if that sun isn't out at all when I wake up. It can be even worse in the winter. I'm so far north, sometimes it doesn't get light out until 8:30 am. But...I'm also so far north that in the summer, the sun is coming up around 5:30-5:45 so I don't have to wait too long for it.

Is your dgs in a badminton team at school? oops, I forgot to respond to this! Yes, he’s on the HS badminton team. He started playing a year ago after he completed his black belt and then quit tae kwon do. Finally had time for another sport. He wants to play football, but his dad won’t let him. In other news, he’ll be turning 15 in a couple of weeks. Anyone remember when I started posting in this thread and he was only 5? Wasn’t even in kindergarten yet.

Hi So I have a broken shoulder. I don’t need a sling if I don’t want one. Two more weeks of intense pain. Medicate it for now and in 2 weeks start physiotherapy. Today isn’t going so well but hopefully later it eases up. HBO on Crave and YouTube have been saving me!

I am having "a day"! I'm so restless and nothing seems to interest me ... I did grab a few groceries and picked up my new sunglasses ... they are exactly the same as my old ones (Ray Ban's) but these ones are actually my size ... imagine that! Here I am wearing them in my new Jeep! I'm on my own for dinner tonight (so far) ... I might make something with pasta! Positive thoughts going out to your DDIL sueg!

Dinner tonight, as it has been all week, is wedding soup. I didn't defrost any rolls today, so we'll have bread or crackers with it.
Dropped DH off at work this morning (his first day back in person since he was sick last week), and we'll stop at the store for some non-dairy creamer for him for his coffee when I go pick him up. He is gung-ho this time about eating healthier, so we'll probably alternate weekly dinners with chicken and salads one week, something different the next, then back to salads, rinse and repeat.
I've also seen a baked oatmeal recipe that sounds good, and he really likes oatmeal. I'm more particular about mine.
I also scheduled a few appointments today (lab work on 4/1 for the nephrologist follow up the week after; 4/24 annual echo; and then 4/26 visit with the cardiologist's NP. Actual cardiologist didn't have an opening til 9/4, and I don't think there will be anything concerning on the echo.
I just want a nap right now, though. Hopefully I'll sleep well tonight.

good thoughts for delta dawn and for sueg's ddil...
well, dh got up with me and drove to ski shop with me and I picked up my skis... then drove me to the lift.. a fun change from the bus. there weren't too many people there. light light snow at the top.. sort of flat light. it felt about 6 or 7 F out.. but with high humidity, felt cold!!! I did my 4 runs, then stopped for a hot tea and a snack.. the skiing was great.. but hard to see anything..flat light. and people started arriving.. so went down, bus back to the other hill.. skied 3 runs with dh on his ski bike.. then went home, lunch, shopping and reading..
dinner is going to be bison burgers.. dh will cook. he thought we were having salmon cakes.. but I thought he was making burgers, so didn't get salmon cakes. oh well.. life is tough supposed to snow every day for the next week.. but not cold.

I just ate lunch. I had a salad from Subway. It was...meh! I haven't been in there for a long time, when did they put up a metal hood over the meat so you can't see it. I don't know why that bugged me, but it did. Dinner tonight is either grilled steaks (if the wind stops) or polish sausage and sauerkraut. I only have 2 more times to call in for jury duty. I am shocked I haven't been called in. **GypsyGirl** I just looked at my paperwork, jurors here get paid 50 bucks a day except for the first day! I am done with work early today. DH and DS1 have been at a wreckage layout for the past two days so there isn't much for me to do. I think I will go up to my craft room and see what kind of trouble I can get into! lucyg I remember when your grandson was just a little guy. You used to take his photo in front of the school sign on the first day of school!! sueg Sorry to hear about your daughter in law. Doesn't it get the blood pumping when you get a vague message from one of the kids. I immediately think who's sick or hurt. scrapmaven I hope you are having fun with your girlfriends!!
