My Joann store has had the same designer lines for about a year now. Has anyone heard of there will be new collections offered, or which ones?

There are reports that Joann is in massive debt and looking at filing for bankruptcy. My local one is looking very empty with not very much new stuff. And I will not order online anymore either. The orders have been cancelled without notice, or just not sent, and the ones that do get here come in six diff boxes from all over the place and take forever.

The monthly Hero Arts/Joann collaboration Make Yourself at Home card kits ended, at least for now, according to HA customer service, last month. Some of the prior Joann kits are now available on HA's website, slightly rebranded.
My local Joann with the best selection of stamps/inks/dies looks a little empty in that area, but they showed me a diagram showing that the section isn't supposed to shrink, it's just being a little rejiggered.
In my experience, Joann has always shipped in that weird way. I think the MY@H kits were drop-shipped from HA, actually.

Last weekend I was at a strip mall and one of the stores was a huge Joann. The scrapbook/card section had a lot of products and the had an aisle with just Cricut products. Nothing I wanted and I don’t have a Cricut.
I’m not surprised they’re filing Chapter 11. They’re a fabric store and few people sew clothing any more due to lack of time and it can be expensive. People do knit and quilt but it’s more of a hobby and not a necessity like it was back in the day. Die hard crafters mostly order online. They don’t seem able to find their nitch.

I do order online for some craft stuff though and get that they are trying to compete. My store is usually pretty well stocked and busy though.

The Joann in my city, has had some of the same scrapbook products for decades. Thy rarely get any new scrapbook products.
When they have a 50% or 60% off coupon, they put almost everything on sale, so that the coupon can't be used.
In the last couple-few years or so, they have taken out some of the overhead lightbulbs, so the lighting is minimal and dreary.

One of the Joann near me has lighting issues. They say it’s because the bulbs keep failing, to which I reply that the fixtures need new ballasts. They say they know, but the landlord won’t fix them. Actually it seemed pretty bright in there last time I was in; maybe they resolved the issue.

I've been reading online that they will most likely be filing Chapter 12 next week, but in reality, its not going to actually effect day to day in the store (unless your store is closed, which could happen if its the lowest money maker in the company). While I am hopeful that Joanns can save itself, I dont think it will. I predict this is going to be a slow death, much like Bed Bath & Beyond. But maybe Im wrong. The reality is that there is massive mismanagement at the top and until that gets fixed, nothing will really change.

It is so sad when stores that have been around for years go out of business. (or die a slow death)

I watched Paige Evans’ most recent live stream and she mentioned that one of her two new collections (Adventuress, but not the Halloween one Tricks & Treats) will be available at Joann.

Oh thats good! Did she say when it would be available? Last I heard, Shimelle was being coy about whether or not she had new collection going to Joanns or not.

She said it would be a year since her last collection, which was Sugarplum Kisses that was May/June - so I think this May/June. She's releasing presale info for some class she's doing at the end of this week (I think??) and it includes a sneak peek of one of them. Don't recall which of the two collections she was talking about.

The reality is that there is massive mismanagement at the top and until that gets fixed, nothing will really change. They were the victims of one of those predatory private equity firms that loaded them up with a ridiculous amount of debt and ran them into the ground, like so many other businesses that were just hanging on in a changing market. I predict that the fabric business will be spun off or saved somehow, simply because there’s very few other places to get fabric in most of the country, but who knows.
