President Biden's State of the Union

The Rep who yelled LIES was Rep Derrick Van Orden (R-WI). He is the one who yelled at the interns who were laying on the floor to take pictures of the dome of the rotunda in the Capitol on their last day. BTW: he didn't just yelled at the interns, he used several obscenities...

I mentioned VP, because she is supposedly now on TFG 's short list and her kids would be a bonus. Maybe this was her audition..

The performance was so bad that some Republicans watched the high-profile speech with a grimace. A GOP strategist told The Daily Beast that Britt’s delivery quickly became a gossip item Thursday night among operatives connected to Donald Trump—something that could have potential implications for her consideration as a vice presidential pick for the former president.

Brendan Buck, a former senior adviser to Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) and Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI), also acknowledged that Britt’s “delivery was unfortunate.”

“She was clearly overcoached,” Buck said on MSNBC.

Britt went for a dramatic performance with her State of the Union rebuttal. But her delivery turned out to be so dramatic that it ended up being distracting at best and disingenuous at worst.

The GOP strategist actually likened Britt’s speech to Rubio’s water moment—saying Britt’s performance was actually worse and that she “lowered her stature.”

A Britt spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Embarrassing.

Britt was obnoxious. She looks ridiculous in her perfect little kitchen wearing her diamond cross. She looked like an old time housewife waiting for her husband to arrive home. I couldn't stand her tone either. Like a very bad actress. Couldn't they find anyone more professional to give that speech?

It is funny, I have mentioned on here that I used to moderate a national online baby board and that we had some Domionist/Christian Nationalist members.  They of course felt very strongly that a woman's place was raising children, taking care of the husband and home, all of that, but a few of them did have (or had women in their communities who had) pretty serious public jobs.  When I'd politely ask about the . . . contrast, I would receive answers along the lines of "some women are called by God to leadership roles to do His work here on earth", and I think about that every time I see something like this. 

I've seen theories that it was in part because she wants to be VP for the Orange One and/or because Alabama is under heat from their IVF ruling.

I thought Biden’s SOTU speech was excellent insofar as he addressed all the major issues and challenges we’re facing, but this part of his speech was the one I found most affecting.

I was a teenager when Bloody Sunday happened. We saw a delayed broadcast of it on our black-and-white TV (there were no live feeds back then). It was beyond horrific. It was savagery I’d never witnessed before in my then-young life. My parents said to me and my siblings that we’ll never forget that day and what it meant. They were right—we never did.

Singing during the civil rights protests was not just a way to unify; it was used by black protestors to steady themselves and give them courage because they knew those billy clubs and whips would come down brutally hard on them and some would die.

Black people paid a very high price to obtain rights and I’m pleased that Biden honored Ms Fikes. But more importantly, he reminded the country that commemorating isn’t the solution; the solution is restoring the voting rights protections the Supreme Court had undone.
