I don't understand how anyone wants to live in the fear, doom and gloom picture that the Republicans paint. They make everything scary. Contrast that with Biden who is presenting a bright future and points out what is good.

And the comedy is starting already www.instagram.com/reel/C4PoQ3SOv_N/?igsh=N25jMGFtbHgxZnZuI mean, did no one even think the optics thru? Let’s put her in a kitchen, wearing a green shirt, make it hysterically dramatic? It will be relatable. I swear this just proves how far out of touch the far right is. Let’s call attention to the fact that we want women back in the kitchen & make sure we reference the popular TV show about removing all of a woman’s rights, yeah, that’s the right tone. ( sarcasm )

As a women who made it to be a senator I’d never stoop to giving a speech in my kitchen. It’s so cliche and as for her whining about the border, then vote on the god damned bill instead of sitting on it for a year. I did like the part where Biden responded to the say her name, correctly, on the spot, unscripted. I don’t think that had the impact the GOP wanted. It just made me want to shout vote on the border bill then you idiot. lol ETA: Oh my I didn’t put 2+2 together right away ( and obviously neither did the GOP ) She gave her speech in her KITCHEN on the eve of international women’s day?!?? Really? She couldn’t see the disrespect in that? To herself? For those old enough to remember, it was very June Cleaver-esque. 👀

Just saw the response. The irony is that she is worried that her kids won’t have the same rights that she does. Her daughters don’t. And if trump is elected they won’t have a democratic country either.

I may be wrong but I think the reason she was in the kitchen was to talk about “kitchen table issues”.
Kitchen Table Issues are supposedly issues talked about around the kitchen table. Mostly, I guess, by Republicans in the mid-west.
They are mysterious issues that are important to these folks but are not social issues which are San Francisco Values and not as important.
Several years ago when I first heard “San Francisco Values” I did a little digging and found that many who voted for Republicans did so because they believed the Democrats gave too much attention to social issues and not enough attention to kitchen table issues.

Last time we visited FIL was trying to get us to stock up on antibiotics from some mail order place because they would necessary to have when the government collapses (aka the democrats are in charge.) I'm pretty sure he's got a gold bar buried in the backyard too... I don't get it.

Oh my... “She really thinks she’s killing it. But it’s comical. Like SNL quality.” Business Insider’s Bryan Metzger reported a GOP Hill staffer told him, likening the rebuttal to “giving high school freshman speech.” And from Rolling Stone: “Into the late hours of the night, Rolling Stone was inundated, sometimes completely unprompted, with messages from longtime GOP operatives, right-leaning pollsters, conservative Capitol Hill staff, MAGA lawyers, and even some senior members of Trump’s own 2024 campaign absolutely torching Britt’s absurdly over-dramatic rebuttal.” “What the hell am I watching right now?” a Trump adviser reportedly asked someone at Rolling Stone, according to the report. www.nj.com/politics/2024/03/republicans-mock-official-gop-response-to-bidens-sotu-as-comical-and-snl-quality.html

SHE can continue to fuck all the way off!

Seems like poetic justice. I don't think this will help Trump sell Truth Social though. www.nytimes.com/2024/03/08/us/politics/trump-instagram-biden-state-of-union.htmlTrump’s State of the Union Response: Social Media Glitches and Mocking Filters Outages on Donald Trump’s platform, Truth Social, interrupted the barrage of derogatory posts that served as his retort to President Biden’s remarks. Former President Donald J. Trump promised Americans a “play-by-play” of President Biden’s State of the Union address on Thursday night.
That, Mr. Trump declared before the event began, would happen on “Truth Social, the real voice of America,” praising the social media platform in which he has a financial stake that would be his bully pulpit for the night.
Like Mr. Trump, conservative commentators — after months of attempting to portray Mr. Biden as enfeebled and diminished — complained that Mr. Biden was overly animated.
The Biden campaign had a simple response to Mr. Trump’s response operation.
“Sad,” said Ammar Moussa, a spokesman for the Biden campaign, alongside an screenshot of Truth Social not loading.
But shortly after, that voice sputtered.
Truth Social began experiencing outages toward the beginning of Mr. Biden’s remarks, with more than 3,000 reported outages on the site by 9:30 p.m., according to Down Detector, a website that tracks user reports of web disruptions. The outages paused the barrage of derogatory posts that made up Mr. Trump’s response to Mr. Biden’s remarks, which included an unusual video that deployed Snapchat filters to mocking effect.

Republicans seem to have an obsession with ice cream.
I respect Nancy Pelosi and I think she did a tremendous job as speaker. However, in her 36 year career, she had moments that were less than perfect.
Katie Britt is supposed to be a rising star in the Republican Party. And for someone who claimed to want to talk about "kitchen table issues", the optics of her in a kitchen, an expensive one at that, are not a good look.

Guess they can afford it.. She was chief of staff for her Senate predecessor, Richard Shelby, from 2016 to 2018. Wesley Britt signed a 3 year, $1,039,000 contract with the San Diego Chargers, including a $114,000 signing bonus, $114,000 guaranteed, and an average salary of $346,333. *** Katie Boyd Britt is proud to champion hardworking families as a United States Senator for the great state of Alabama. Most recently, Katie worked to grow good-paying jobs and opportunity for all Alabamians while standing up for small and rural businesses – a passion first instilled by her parents, both small business owners in her native Wiregrass. She strongly believes that no child’s zip code should determine their opportunity in life. A practicing attorney by trade, Katie is a graduate of the University of Alabama and the University of Alabama School of Law. She previously served as the chief of staff to Alabama’s then-senior U.S. Senator (Shelby) and has served on numerous boards and committees. A Christian, wife, and mother, faith and family are at the heart of Katie’s life. She is committed to fighting tirelessly to preserve the American Dream for our children and our children’s children. Katie now resides in Montgomery with her husband, Wesley, and their two children. www.britt.senate.gov/about/

ALWAYS a reason why it’s worse for the right. Always. Not better or worse. Not good for either politician. To be fair though, I think Nancy Pelosi was improvising in the early days of covid. Katie Britt is supposed to be a rising star. Someone in her office or in the Republican Party should have learned from past mistakes, like Nancy Pelosi's, and had the foresight to recognize that her kitchen would not be a good backdrop.

I think the Republican criticism of Katie Britt is even harsher. Some of the comments are representative of what the Republican Party has become. Trump and Steven Miller had nothing but praise for her, though. Maybe she'll be Trump's VP pick? www.meidastouch.com/news/even-maga-hated-katie-britts-speechCompetence over pretty next time please
Katie Britt should have been tucking her kids into bed.
If Katie Britt is "America's mom", I'm running away from home

What I’ve never understood about this rant is that the ice cream maker is a woman from Columbus, Ohio who had an idea and turned it into a successful business, presumably employing many Americans in the process. The so-called American Dream. But it seems like a good number of people have a serious problem with others *actually* buying American self-made products. We do better, as a country, when those who can afford it, “Buy American.” Instead, people rag on them, declare them out of touch, because they didn’t buy the same corporate efficiency prioritized, so wealthy people can be more wealthy, crap everyone else does.

It was so incongruous when you heard her words and saw her expressions.
