I am a Tiktok addict. Love it but I follow doctors and airline travel. I am kind of getting sick of it. Need some makeup people. I get a ton of Hermes and I need that to stop. That is just not me.

I suggest manipulating your FYP feed. Just start searching on topics you are interested in following and watch/engage with the videos. Like, comment and you'll be sure to start seeing more. There are so so many makeup content creators, there are many over 40/50/60 aged women doing great makeup. Same goes for topics you are no longer interested in following. Just scroll past with no engagement. After a few times you'll start seeing less and less. Actually, this works for ads and live videos too. Just choose "I'm not interested in this topic/live creator" and it'll reset. For a while I was seeing lots of roller rink videos of some town where a bunch of 60 y/o dads like to skate and I got bored with that quick so I stopped engaging and I haven't seen another since. |

I randomly get some older folks roller skating.. it puzzles me why I started getting them. lol... I am getting a lot of live junk journaling ones now because I stop and look.. but I never understood watching someone else do this... and if I wanted to copy their content, it's never beginning to end.. it's always somewhere in the middle. THEN usually that person is not at their desk and what is the point. LOL. Apparently I have issues. The only political ones I like are currently making fun of that Katie chick in Alabama.. I could watch those all day long. Then there is some dude who interviews Trump people and asks them questions and they are too stupid to realize their answers always backfire on them. |

Watched ALL of the Who TF did I Marry! I did watch it on 1.5 speed though. I watched on 2 speed! LOL For some reason, it wont let me speed up on my ipad where I watch most of my TTs), but will on my phone... I guess I will have to watch on my phone! |

I recently registered for Threads for the same reason. Me too! But after much resistance. I was like "I do NOT need another social media to keep me distracted. But then I would want to finish reading what was teased before me. I finally broke down and signed up. But I seldom read and never post. Same for X/Twitter. I have it, never post. I use it more as a "did that happen" confirmation. For example the recent Facebook/Instagram outage. I tried to log in a couple times and then popped on Twitter to find that it was a widespread outage. That saved me from worrying about my account being compromised and trying to reset everything. So I appreciate it for that. None of my friends or family use Twitter. I probably should grab the same name on TikTok too even though I still have some concerns about it. I keep my account private and try to not have anything that would indicate who I am. I did have a TT account. I deleted it because I would get sucked in and couldn't stop watching. Ugh! I had to make myself only look at it at night. It is my TV replacement. I do tend to hop on TT before most anything these days because my algorithm is set to cooking, books, cute baby animals and the like. I don't have to deal with political nonsense at all. Tiktok is my happy medium. I'm totally private, don't post anything but follow a ton of great content creators and have learned so frikin much. Me too! I have my algorithm set now to funny things, cows, farming, cooking gardening and decorating. If something comes up I do not like, a quick flick and it is gone. So, TT users - even if you are “private” can people find you via your email address or is that an option to turn off? If I join TT I want to be totally anonymous. I don’t want people I know in real life to fine me, or for me to be suggested to them, if you know what I mean. Can others still see your profile? I know they look at your phone number or other social media that has the same number attached and suggest friends. I do not believe others can see your email or anything recognizable unless you use a profile picture or name that is easily recognizable as you. You might be recommended to someone that knows you - but they won't "Know you" if your profile doesn't reflect anything personal about you. It will ask you often if you want to merge your friends to follow - I just say no. But I LOVE TikTok. I have managed to limit the time I am on it. I treat it more as watching TV in the evening. I have learned SO many cool things - the most recent was covering a pie, slitting the top and rolling it back to easily cover the edges. So dang simple, but I had never though of it. I find great recipes, how-to advice. Fun decorating videos. And the humor! But again, if it something political or humor that I do not care for - a quick scroll. Do that often enough and that matching content doesn't show up for you. You can also watch TikTok on your computer without needing an account. I don't know if any of the algorithm kicks in to feed you the types of content you want to see - but that is an option. Here is one of my favorite TT videos on how to cover the pie edge. No. I also don’t have Snapchat. I do have a Twitter/X account, but I’ve never posted, and have only gone there a handful of times, usually if a Google question leads to answers there.

I have accounts on pretty much all the major social media platforms. ie: Facebook, Snapchat, X (Twitter), Instagram and TikTok. I never use Snapchat, X or Instagram. I check Facebook a couple of times a day. But I'm a TikTok addict. I don't post but I love scrolling through. I love the variety although for a 55year old Australian, I get far too much American politics on my FYP.  |

I have an account but I'm a lurker. I don't go on TT much and never post. I'm on Instagram and FB and run accounts for a non-profit. I rarely post personal content or comments there, either.
Fun fact, I have an X account that I don't even look at unless I reach a dead end with customer service. I take to Twitter and get results almost immediately. One tweet and problem solved.
I realize that there are criticisms about data privacy on TT, but I use Google, Alexa, and an iPhone so the world already has my data. If they were all that adept at using it to tailor content, I wouldn't be getting so many ads for Vanderpump Rules.
