Hi peas, I was having a look through items at the markets today and came across a brand new dated roller stamp for 1987 - 1998 which will cover most of my childhood pics and looks similar to the one I use for my current layouts. What has been your scrapbooking lottery win?

What has been your scrapbooking lottery win? Thats a great find! I guess my only scrappy lottery win was a few years ago. I went to an estate sale and bought 20 packages of heavy transparencies (with 30 in each package) - all for like $3. I've used the crap out of them reorganizing my stamps and making inserts. Im not sure the brand, but they are heavy like the transparencies that Ali Edwards uses in her kits.

That is a great find! I don’t need anything but my sister has decided to let her scrapbook stuff go and offered it to me. I am going to be VERY choosy as to what I decide to keep. anaterra I think that’s a great idea to wait and give her opportunity to change her mind as her life starts to calm down a bit.

I ran into Michaels on a whim a few years ago and they had just put all their project life 12x12 albums on a big clearance rack at the front of the store for 5 bucks each. I bought 10 and wish I'd bought more. They were all gone the next day.

I feel that way, when I find now discontinued favorite brands on a re-sale (ebay) website.

Mine was when my BFF bought a house out of state and helped her dad clear out all of her late mom’s craft stuff in the same year. I brought literal carloads of really nice stuff home. This was a couple years ago and I still haven’t worked my way through all of it to integrate it into my own sizable stash and organize it.

I walked into a Michael’s several years ago and right by the door was a huge display aid pocket pages $1 per pack (I think—could have been $1.50?). I bought so many packs LOL. IIRC they were MM brand—not exactly sure because o took them out of the packaging and have them stored in binders. I do know they were not the PL brand, but they were the same layouts.
They had 12x12 protectors, too, but I was already well-stocked on those. Costco used to carry a 100-pack or maybe 50-pack, and I was there early one morning as they were marking those down to $2.00 per box. I bought a bunch of those and still have over half of them left.
And then there was the time a friend and I were in Michael’s while they were marking down Cricut Cake machines. We each bought one for $25 and a boatload of supplies to go with them—mats for $1 a pack, blades for 50 cents, cake cartridges for $2. And all of it sitting unused in my scrap room in spite of the best intentions I had of being the mom/teacher with the most awesome cupcake treats LOL.

I have been lucky a couple of times finding albums for $5 on clearance. Quite a few years ago now.
But recently I was in a charity shop and found a TH stamp platform for $5. The full size one. I was so excited, because they retailed here in Australia for about $60 - $70 (from memory)

Many years ago dollar tree sold knockoffs of the cropper hopper paper holders with a handle on top. Each one holds two plus 12x12 paper pads. I bought a few boxes.
They still hold my paper today and are an essential part of my organizational process. I’m amazed how well they’ve held up.

I found 40+ studio calico stamps on eBay for less than $100 last year and all the stamps were from their earlier kits which were hard to find. It was a damn good deal for very good quality stamps with nice designs.

I bought a bag of Reese Eggies while in the US a few weeks ago and savoured/hoarded them but ate the last one Friday. I was so sad they were gone since I can't find them locally. Found them on Amazon yesterday and have a bag being delivered today. Yes, they are for scrapbooking Don't they count?? I don't think I've ever scored an amazing find like you ladies above - I am so envious of kmage and her albums, and twinsmomfla99 and their albums/refills! Those are necessities that I hate spending the $$ on (want the pretty things instead) and it would feel so amazing to stock up!

I totally forgot about that, lol. I use it as my traveling cricut, you can get a deep blade housing for it (or a regulary housing, but I could not find one of those to buy) and a regular or deep blade, and it functions just like a normal Expression. I used those cake cartridges all the time for scrapbooking.

And I too used the cake cartridges for regular scrapping.

I posted mine last month. Quickutz used to have capital, lowercase, numbers, and random other function dies all in one set. They were originally $130. I found two different ones at my local second hand store for $4 each. That place is really hit or miss. I do love finding dies and punches there.
The other one was years ago I got 22 WRMK albums for $2.50 each. They were going for $29.99- $39.99.
Oh, I also go an XXL Navigator for $25 at Hobby Lobby. It was mislabeled for $49.99 (should have been 149.99) and when I asked the person at the front, she said that it was supposed to be another 50% off for craft storage. I did not argue with her, but she clearly had no idea what she was doing.

Today, I found a cloth AC D-ring album, still in the packaging (so with page protectors) for $3, in the photo album section (not the crafts area) of my favorite thrift store. It's black with stripes so doesn't match any of the other ones I own, but I don't care.
They also had quite a few Cricut cartridges for $3, but didn't see any that I didn't already own, or needed.

I have been lucky several times..
Once I found an entire lot of scrapbooking items for $20. A big plastic tote of stamps (Like storage, big totes).. I couldn't hardly lift it, a CIS bag, lots of misc do-dads, lots of junk to toss..
Friends who have stopped scrapping has given me lots of items. I have one that told me she was going to give me her stash.. (it's huge, she never ever bought one of anything)... haven't seen it yet, but she is usually good on promises.. (I'm not counting on it though)
I had a friend in the business who published how to books and she was always gifted products from various companies, she would give me her leftovers, which was a ton. She did a lot of classes too. (ummm I wonder what happened to her)

Before Tuesday Morning closed, I used to hit the SB lottery there occasionally, usually with lines of papers that I love, such as Graphics 45. It’s been a very, very long time since I scored such a rare find. I guess the closest thing for me would be the enormous discounts I’ve gotten on some favorite Heartfelt Creations papers during their going out of business warehouse sales. I don’t know if that counts, but I am delighted for those here who got something they needed or wanted that may have been a long shot of ever finding.

on a few occasions, i've stumbled upon someone's SB stash at the same flea market. the last time, this guy bought a bunch of stuff from a storage unit auction. i don't know how long he had sold by the time i found his booth but i came back at 4 straight weeks to go through the stuff until was only leftovers.

I found the Quickutz 12 inch scallops die, I have been looking for that one for awhile. Woohoo! I am happy I got it for a good price. The only sad part is looking at the prices the QK I paid so much for back in the day are being sold for, it's great if you are a buyer though. I am keeping my QK so I guess I shouldn't worry about resale price anyway.

But you still use your QK so if you average out what you paid versus how often you use it then you are the true winner, instead of being someone like me who gets a case of the “hafta wannas”, buys the machine, never uses it and then sells it for super cheap to clear out some space for the next hafta wanna. You’re the true winner!

But you still use your QK so if you average out what you paid versus how often you use it then you are the true winner Thanks. Because they were pricy at the time I was pretty selective in what I bought, mainly basic shapes that I could get a lot of use out of and a few alphabets that I really liked. So I think that's why I still use them.

My grandson says they are the best of the Reese's peanut butter cups. I just bought a bag and told him they were for Easter. He held it up with a funny smirk and asked "what would happen if I ate them now?" I said probably nothing, so he ate a couple .
